3) What is the difference of Wilton Carpet and Axminster carpet
Wilton carpet, like Axminster carpet, is woven. However the difference between the two methods is the way in which the carpet is woven. Whereas the Axminster yarn is woven into each weft and then cut to the required pile height and then reinserted when that colour is needed again –the Wilton carpet yarn is a continuous strand woven all the way through.
- Q:My parents bought our house two years ago. It was remodeled by the previous owners, and they cut a lot of corners just to sell the house faster. We were unaware of this when we bought it, and we soon found a bunch of mistakes. We have berber carpet in beige. I absolutely hate this carpet and so do my parents. We have three dogs and they track in mud sometimes. It is hard to clean. Plus, my dogs seem to think they can dig through our floors, so they unravelled the berber carpet outside my bedroom door. What is the best carpet for us? Something that cleans well, but is tough enough to last years? What colors do you recommend also? Thank you.
- When it comes to carpeting no one can tell you what is best. All I can do is recommend things. Your life style w/ 3 dogs I suggest more hard surface's w/ maybe area rugs. Hard surfaces such as laminate, vinyl, or ceramic tiles. But you asked about carpet. With dogs berbers of any kind are not good, this includes low nap commercial carpeting.I suggest you go look at multi tone carpets that dont show dirt are readily as a solid color. To help keep it looking good you ll need to have it professionally cleaned at least once a year. When shopping look for stain resistant carpet that the stain blocker is treated into the yarn when its made , not after the carpet is made..Look at major manufacturers , such as Shaw and Mohawk. - Q:So we recently just moved into a new house, and my room is hardwood flooring. I have this HUGE empty space in the middle of my room and want to get a rug.Well since everything else in my room is pink, where can I find a pink rug?Possibly around the size of 5ft x 4ft.Oh and for under 40 dollars.I just need the store names pleasssssse (:
- Also look around when dorm furniture and sales start, you'll see a lot of pink.
- Q:Can a carpet store take carpet out of some one home and sell it to some one els and put it in there home? No this is not a joke!
- In the US--Usually, the carpet they remove when they replace it with the new carpet is discarded. If the owner of the home didn't care to keep it, the carpet store could take it with them. They could resell it and install it somewhere else if they found a buyer. But if they are selling it as new, and it is not, they could be sued for fraud. Some states may have specific health and safety laws prohibiting them from reselling the carpet, but I don't know of any.
- Q:I was hoovering today and I took a closer look at the carpet when I realised my carpet is full of little white cm long bugs. I searched on google and they are saying it is carpet bettle larve. But looki g at the pictures of these beetle larve they look nothing like them. To give you a picture they are pure white cilinder shapes that have a sort of tuft on each end. They are a cm long and I'd expect a mm in diameter. Please help
- Carpet beetles and clothes moths attack fibre of animal origin, avoiding the synthetic fabrics. Even synthetics may be attacked if they are soiled by food or animal excrement. The blending of animal fibres and synthetic fibres is now commonplace and make such textiles susceptible to carpet beetle and moth damage. Both carpet beetles and moths prefer secluded areas such as behind curtains and furniture where they are seldom disturbed. In each instance, it is the larva that will cause damage to carpet and other fabrics. Prevention Some carpets are treated during manufacture and should give protection against infestation until the chemicals are removed, either by cleaning or have lost their effect due to normal chemical breakdown. Prevention and correction of carpet pest infestations require special skills and extensive knowledge of the problem and careful workmanship. Protection of carpets and fabrics with high animal fibre content is an ongoing challenge which is now not always possible with the range of safer, less persistent formulations in use in the marketplace today.
- Q:I am concerned that using the commonly available tapes will damage the underlying carpet. Specifically, if I used carpet tape to attach my rugs to my carpet, if I decide to remove the rugs and tape will my under carpet not be damaged? I appreciate any ideas. Thanks!
- Yes, you need to have the carpet to carpet non-skid. It should be pretty cheap. You could use duct tape, and it could very well keep the rug in place. that's basically what carpet to carpet padding is. It's very sticky on both sides. If you ever have problems removing the tape residue, try just a tiny, tiny bit of AFTA which is a solvent.
- Q:are there any home made recipes i can use for removing stains out of the carpet?thanks.
- when you're trying to remove a spot, you need to subtract, not add. vaccuum the carpet when it's dry. then use a damp white towel. If this isn't doing much, you can go to non-ammonia windex or rubbing alchohol. avoid any other detergents or over-the counter spot removers, as they can set spots in or cause bleaching(and yes, oxi- labeled cleaners can do that too). some spots are permanent, but if you avoid harsh chemicals, a pro will at least have a fighting chance. Using the harsh chemicals can eliminate that chance.
- Q:For my bedroom. I'm a 14 year old girl, and I'm remodeling my bedroom. I'm painting 3 walls light blue, and one wall a darker shade. My furniture is all white. (Desk, bed, night stand, dressers (dressers have a blue trim...)
- My pick would be the second choice for several reasons. Because the walls and the trim on the dressers will be blue, I'd be concerned with how the various shades of blues found in the rugs, your walls, and furniture will play together. If they clash, it won't be a good look. I am personally not a fan of zebra stripe so that pretty much ruled it out for me. Also the fact that the zebra striped rug also has blue trim again makes me worry about too many shades of blue in one room. The second choice is the most neutral of all. It also adds a chocolatey color which looks beautiful with blue. Adding this rug will add a new color to the scheme which will complement the blues in the room.
- Q:how do I find out how much its worth?
- You could take it to an antique store or oriental rug shop and get it appraised. You could do an E-Bay search for oriental rugs. You could search online for prices. You could take a picture and send it to the Antique Road Show.
- Q:Is there a way to effectively clean my carpet without buying any special equipment? I live in an apartment building and the carpet here is very dense. Is there a way to get rid of spots and things stuck to the floor? I wouldn't want to spend more than twenty dollars on this. Can anyone help?
- Okay, I had this exact dilemma a few years ago. Buy a big jug of windex window cleaner, even off brand is fine. Take a regular sponge mop and spray the floor with windex and scrub like crazy with the mop. Then when its completely dry vacuum. Simple as that!
