Q: how to prevent rugs from bunching up in the center?
You okorder but have not used it yet although it does look more promising than the rubber-looking black mesh pads! (We have those now and our rugs slide across the linoleum surface still).
Q: that keeps shedding. it's a wool rug and I love it, but I just bought it and it shed shed sheds all over the place. What to do to stop the shedding.....or will it just continue forever?
Hi, This is a natural process of wool rugs shedding loose fibers from the weaving process. It will not hurt your rug just may be a little annoying but the great qualities of wool will make up for that. You may have to vacuum more often 2 or 3 times a week for a year or less until the shedding stops. If the rug is a longer pile like a flokati rug you can rake it with a garden rake (preferable wood or plastic) or uses a wide tooth brush or pet brush to brush it. Hope this helps and hang in there with the shedding!
Q: I recently rented a condo and the carpets were filthy. Used my Bissell in February and March to clean it. It looks better, but I still see dirt stains. Is it safe to shampoo it once a month until its clean?
You might want to consider having the carpets professionally cleaned this one time and then you can use your bissell to touch up. You could clean the carpet yourself once a month with no damage to the carpet. However, the one problem with the home cleaning units is that they do not extract enough of the water and this causes the stains to reoccur. They are good for surface cleaning, but you need to have a deep thorough cleaning to remove the stains that you still have.
Q: the differences of pure cotton carpets and acrylic fiber carpets
The anti static performance of pure cotton is much better than that of acrylic synthetic fiber material, if carpet has serious electrostatic, it's uncomfortable to step on it. In addition, too much electrostatic is also easy to absorb grey swing Lei seal brown Fu chicken sweep alone preserved dust, which is very dirty. Of course, acrylic fiber carpet is cheaper. The fluffiness and elastic are better than pure cotton, it's soft to step on it.
Q: I bought a new rug for my living room. My cats love it and they want to lay on it and scratch it up. How can I let them know its off limits!?!?!?
according to the size of the rug, place cookie sheets with water in them around the edges. cats hate water and will turn away from the rug. they wont forget and you will have your rug back.
Q: We bought our house 2 months ago. We didn't mind the carpet. It is very nice carpet. However, the house was built in 1955 and has origional hardwood floors under the carpet. Here is the problem... it looks like there are hardwoods, a new sub floor and the carpet. My concern is that removing the sub floor will ruin the floors under. What has your expirance been?
After having just removed the carpeting in my house, I can tell you this: if they put a subfloor on top of hardwood, there was something wrong with the hardwood. It is not necessary in order to lay carpet. Padding and tack boards are all that are needed--which really don't ruin the hardwood. (You may want to fill a few nail holes from the tack strips.) Lots of houses have hardwood that is only finished around the edges--if you pull up the subfloor and find unfinished board flooring, that's one reason they laid the subfloor. Another reason might be that there was bad damage to the hardwood which made it uneven. A finished hardwood floor rarely needs subfloor for carpeting unless it is damaged or otherwise totally unusable as hardwood flooring. Since your house was built in 1955, it could have very badly damaged floors. There is only one way to check that--pull up the carpet in a corner, and the subfloor under that--and check. If the floors are not damaged, then the only damage will be from nail holes--which can be filled, sanded and revarnished.
Q: I don't have the cash to rent a rug doctor. I have a large white rug in my living room and I guess from walking around the house with no socks on, there is a 2'x6' area that is darker than the rest, along with a few stains from spilled drinks.I have a bottle of some carpet cleaning foam with a cheap scrubber on the end but it's just too small to cover that large of an area.So I'm thinking a bucket and a rag might be the best option. I have since bought a small bathroom size mat over the area my feet go on but I'd like to clean it still. So maybe a bucket of warm water with a dab of dishwashing liquid detergent? Or some baking soda?I also don't want to get so many suds in there to where I have to keep scrubbing with a rag and water only 5-10 times to get all the cleanser out.Any ideas?
some valid solutions right here so a techniques. Counter perfect or floor tile and grout, in a kitchen or tub are a never ending cleansing concern,,,no count the colour of the two. Grout removal isn't purely tedious, yet you would be able to break tile besides. together as I completely GET IT as to matching or coordinating grout colour with tile, even the darkest is a place for residue/ airborne dirt and airborne dirt and dust/ grease/ mildew/ to be a controversy. Sealers artwork Modestly, and choose RE-Sealing besides. I in many cases use,,,very carefully,,,each and all of the stated procedures, besides as PREP in a muriatic acid answer. Grout, besides as mortar is a medium that pulls and holds the STUFF of our on an known basis use of the floor. i could additionally upload a handbook for in spite of the priority, which you do no longer define, by way of using any cleansing brokers with a twine brush,,,and correct prep. Q: I have a large sisal rug that has been spilled on cat-vomited on, and who knows what else. Trying to spot-clean the stains hasn't been productive. What should I do?
Hey,i happen to have a sisal rug myself!! Firstly, it depends on the kind of sisal rug you have. There are two types: synthetic fiber, which may contain nylon or wool-blend materials; and natural fiber, made of plant products such as sea grass, paper, or coconut fibers. To safely clean synthetic-fiber sisals, follow the manufacturer's directions, which may recommend hot-water extraction or a dry-cleaning method. Manufacturers of natural-fiber sisals suggest only a dry-cleaning method. Do not steam-clean or wet-shampoo; liquids or excessive dampness may cause these rugs to shrink or pucker. For spot-cleaning a stain, lightly mist the area with the manufacturer's recommended cleaning solution (do not pour or heavily apply any cleanser directly onto the rug). Then blot the damp area with a white towel and continue blotting until the stain is removed. A fabric protectant may be applied to both types of sisal rugs during the manufacturing process or by the consumer. But regular wear and tear and cleaning can decrease its effectiveness; it may need to be reapplied.=] thx,
Q: What kind of carpet is good for the bathroom and kitchen door
Antiskid acrylic fiber carpet!
Q: Can I dye the carpet of my car...it looks as if someone spilt bleach or nail polish remover on the carpet...My carpet color is gray and the spot is white... :(...Its driving me crazy....What can I do? Please be specific...What dye should I use? Will it match the color?Whats the best thing to do?any advice? Please don't say get new carpet...I'd rather not.
you can go to a car place and they should have a service that dyes your carpets/seats. but they should have they dye for you to buy, just take you car there and ask them so they can get a positive match for your carpet.
