- Q: I bought this cool wool runner rug at a consignment shop. It is possibly a blended wool with some brown cotton type thread woven in it that extends thoughout and the remains of the thread is the knotted fringes at the end.
- It looks indian to me.
- Q: I'm taking on a rescue horse that my friend rescued. He has rainscald and I was wondering when turning him out should I put a rug on him? Because there so many diffrent answers also can you put louse powder on them? Also he ginger and I need a name really want it to be unqui :) thanks
- I would not put a rug on him. Only put him out if the weather it nice and dry. Putting on a rug will only help the bacteria out. You should not need to use the louse powder on him either. As for a name how about Ozzy or redd, romper, ernie, pokey, charlie, or just to throw people off you could name him blue. LOL
- Q: I am looking for a nice quality prayer rug. Where can I buy one online in USA? There are a lot of cheap poor quality rugs I am seeing, but I want something nice.
- There's okorder /. They ship from USA, too, so that's really convenient
- Q: I acquired enough used carpeting (good quality) to redo my whole house, but have no padding. The padding I currently have is 30 years old,as is my current carpet. Also wondering, what is carpet crease?
- A carpet crease is caused by folding carpet and leaving it folded for a period of time. This may be corrected by stretching over a wood surface, such as plywood, nailing the edges. Shampooing will then help, as it dries. Stretching during installation also helps. As to installing without padding, it can be done, but it will not be a totally satisfactory installation. The tack strip along the wall is approximately 1/4 in thickness and when the carpet is attached to the strip, it acts as though the carpet is suspended across the floor. This is not totally accurate because one is standing on the carpet, preventing suspension. The result is that as it is walked upon, the carpet tends to sag at the tack strip and will become loose. Bear in mind, on installation, that if used carpet has to be cut and seamed onto cuts from another piece, or if one side of the carpet is seamed to another side, there may be a color difference. Think of a side at any wall, which gets no traffic or wear, then seaming that side to any other that may have a traffic pattern or is worn. This can be worked out to the best possible layout by an experienced installer but it does need to be considered. I doubt that 30 yr. old pad is worth using. I know of what material most of that padding was made. In most cases padding today is better quality. You will find that installation labor is higher on used carpet. Don't use cheapest labor. It will show up.
- Q: i recently had a basement flood which covered the floor in 4 inches of water. After using two pond vacuum's, and a carpet shampoo and water extractor, the carpet and the pad are still wet. I would love to get the same carpet as i had. They do not have it on the Abbey carpet site anymore...HERE IS THE CARPET THAT WE HAD.
- If its not on the Abbey site there are only 2 reasons for this.. The carpet is no longer made and discontinued or who ever you bought the carpet from has private labeled the carpet so no one shopping for an Abbey carpet ( or any thing else in their store) won t be able to cross shop and price compare. Big box stores are know to do this and some mom and pop stores. I never did. Now a suggestion.. Pull up the carpet and the pad. The pad is probably ruined. The carpet is more often than now salvageable if you can get it to dry. Or get a professional carpet cleaner in to vac out the carpet. they may be able to pull out enough water and along w/ fans and a dehumidifier, you may be able to save it. Most home owners policy's cover flood damage, its worth a call. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar. GL
- Q: What are the benefits of carpeting? What about people who hate carpets? What kind of carpet is suitable for what kind of room?
- 1. Thermal insulation and heat conduction can block the coolness from the ground in winter and maintain the comfort of indoor temperature. In summer, it can prevent hot air from pouring into the room and keep the room cool. 2. The carpet has the function of balancing the indoor temperature. In winter, the carpet can block the cool feeling from the ground and increase the warmth and comfort of the room; When the air conditioner is turned on in summer, the insulation and barrier function of the carpet will make it difficult for the low temperature in the room to flow out through the ground. 3. Easy to replace, just remove the old carpet and lay the newly purchased carpet. It's really convenient and fast, but the replacement of wooden floor is not so easy. 4. Shock absorption comfort stepping on the soft and elastic carpet will feel relaxed and comfortable, reduce fatigue, and avoid the tremor caused by frequent collision between hard ground and sole. 5. Clean and dustproof because the carpet surface of the carpet is a dense pile structure, the dust falling from the air is absorbed by the carpet pile, which prevents the dust from escaping, relatively reduces the dust content in the air and keeps the indoor air clean.
- Q: Need to find the best carpeting that will not show quot;traffic patternsquot;. What material is best for this? Money is not a big concern.
- I love my carpet have had it about 4 years.. its made of recycled plastic milk cartons, according to my carpet dealer they are all making this type of carpet now, but mine was from Mohawk. There are certain letters on it I think its PET, ask your carpet dealer. It will not stain at all.. I really don't see any traffic marks and part of the carpet is in an area between 2 doorways that gets a lot of traffic. It looks like a normal wool/ polyester carpet it feels just as soft but has great durability, I highly recommend it! The other type I would recommend is berber.. its not as soft.. and if you have pets it wouldn't work like my carpet(cats like to scratch on it and it will stain) but it won't show a traffic pattern its very strong and used in more office settings than homes.
- Q: After the water inside the car, it is necessary to uncover the carpet inside the room after wiping cadres and painted with oil?
- After entering the water, the car carpet does not need to be painted with oil after drying. If the oil is coated, the carpet will be more dirty.
- Q: As you can see from the lower half of the picture its slightly yellow. There are afew yellows spots(3-4 1'x1') through out the rug. How would I go about cleaning/reversing the effects?THANKS!
- That depends on what the stains are from. If they are from food, some oxygen type cleaners can lighten them, If they are from bleeding of the dyes in the rug colors (which can happen with some inexpensive wool oriental type carpets), there is not much you can do. If it is pet stains, a good professional cleaning company can often remove them. I have owned a lot of oriental carpets and I highly recommend finding a professional cleaner who specializes in cleaning them. It usually costs about $100 to have an 8 x 11 carpet cleaned, but they can make them look (and smell) like new. I don t think you should try to clean the rug with any water based cleaners or shampooing. Some one I know had a rug very much like yours and when they tried to damp shampoo it all of the red color bled into the white areas and ruined it.
- Q: Ok so i want to get new carpet in my basement and on the Home Depot website it says that youcan get any size carpet for only $139, but idk if this includes taking the old carpet out. If not, then how would i do that, and/or how much will it cost???
- They give you an estimate if you go in and tell them the size of the room. Removing is usually included in carpet stores but Home Depot might charge for that but you can ask.
