Q: I'm buying a house and need to replace the carpet currently in it. I can't get an estimate on it until I close so I'm looking to get a ball park number. I need to replace about 800 sqft. What price am I looking at to get wood laminate put in verus mid-grade carpet. Thanks.
A mid grade carpet (3$ a s/f) will go in at 2400$ +- .. And laminates 2.5 a s/f for the laminate 2$ a s/f for installation. This will be about 3600$. Now the carpet price can be done at that price for a regular residential carpet and standard pad ( 5 1/2 # minimum) that will hold your warranties. Now these prices won t include any rip out and removal of the existing carpet or un seen floor prep. You may be able to get rip out included if some one wants the work, because of the economy.. Or save your self money by getting a beer and or pizza pal to help you for a day and rip out the carpet yourself.. Any flooring questions you can e mail me through my avatar.. GL
Q: Carpet is worn to padding something black under the carpet its showing and landlord is cheap and doesn't want to fix anything. Exterminator told landlord a year ago it needed replaced but landlord ignored. My kids and I have to wear flip flops in the house because this carpet is nauseating. I was going to buy a carpet cleaner but im not wasting my money or time on this carpet. Been here 8 years and carpet was here before I moved in.
if you have lived there 8 yrs and the carpet was there when you moved in all the wear and tear is as a result of you living and using it, it would appear you failed to keep the carpet in good condition, which would be part of your responsibility when renting it is not likely the landlord can even replace it until you move out, or you somehow move all your furniture so it can be replaced I had a tenant we needed to replace the carpet but there is no way I would ask the carpet layer to move ALL her furniture to lay down a carpet, she had a whole lot of furniture
Q: I am in need of a carpet rake. I have friese carpeting. It is about an inch long and and very very thick. I have a lot of matting in the high traffic areas and I think a carpet rake would help. I looked online though and the ones I found all seem to have tines that are very close together. I don't think it would get down far enough to pull anything up. Has anyone had much experience with these rakes or know another trick to get the carpet to lift. My carpet is only a year old and the high traffic areas look like my mother in laws 20
The Carpet Rake enables you to spread your carpet treatment evenly and deeply into your carpet or area rug to reach the most allergens possible. The carpet treatment powder needs to get into the carpet fibers to reach the dust mite allergen, pet allergen, and any other allergens that may have settled into the carpet. Using this specially designed rake makes it easy to apply Acarosan and X-Mite powdered carpet rake treatments. The rake has a 3- part 54 handle. It is 12 wide and 2 deep, so it makes quick work of just about any carpet rake.
Q: Im gonna be selling silk carpets and o wanna whats the most appropriate thing to be in the advertisement and how it shoukd look and what info it shoukd have
I think to sell your carpet, you should show rooms with ambiance that does justice to your carpet. Like for example, traditional carpets look great in family rooms, formal dining rooms as well as living rooms. I don't know what your carpet looks like but I think I can already tell it is a great one for a living room where guests come or formal dining if the size is large. It should show how durable the carpet is and how it is any different from carpets being sold on the market. What comparative advantage do you have over other carpet sellers? Whom would it benefit and why should someone buy your carpets?
Q: rug is wool. its new. it costs 80 dollars to clean with the company.. id rather do it by hand.what besides hot water and a rug.. do i put on it to clean it by hand?
Check the backside of the wool rug for instructions, you'll find them on a sticky tag in the corner. Here you should be able to locate an 800 phone number. Call this number and ask for advice. For your own information, wool is cleaned with lukewarm water and a very gentle low PH soap. One of my customers brought me a $500.00 dollar wool area rug that smelled like burnt plastic. I cleaned it and aired it out for several weeks. It still smells. The 800 number in this case was of no use, as the manufacturer had no idea what was going on. If your rug still smells after a couple of weeks, take it back to the store and ask for a refund. Should let you know, in case you have a dog in the house, that they sometimes sense a competitive situation and mark the rug with urine. They will do this numerous times, not realizing the animal was a sheep. Keep it clean if you want to return it.
Q: My bedroom is 114 1/4 inches in length and 128 inches in width. How much do you think that much carpet would cost max.?Thank you.:)
depends on the brand normally around 200
Q: The canister filter on (specifically, directly under) my 55 gallon sprung a leak, and in total has leaked 20+ gallons of nitrate-laden water onto the carpet around the stand. The canister is undergoing repairs ATM but the carpet is still soaked. Will I have to break down the aquarium and pull up the carpet, or can I keep mold from growing another way? Also, the canister was removed and will not be back up for at least a day, so how long can I keep my fish in there without an ammonia spike?
first of all search for the water line going into your water heater and close off the water and then call a plumber and performance them pop out they're going to guard something like checking for mildew and getting it treated considering that maximum plumbers have emergency amenities on p.c. dial. they're going to be waiting to restoration your complications immediately
Q: We are going to replace our flooring in the basement, it has very expensive cushony white carpet, and over the years with kids and dogs, it no longer looks white. Our basement is just under 1000 sq ft, and don't really feel like ripping all the carpet up. Its a very warm, dry basement, no dampness or leaks. So could I just put the laminate over this instead of using an underlay? Or is that just asking for trouble later on?
No - Don't do it. I thought the same as you, where even on a flat carpet the floor was very springy so much so that the joints in the boards split when furniture was returned. Had to start again with the floor!!
Q: I have been living in a rental home for 2yrs and notice that the carpet is old. Due to the fact that i have had it clean 1 time steam clean and 2 times rental machine and stains will not come up. Asked rental company once and they said the owner does not have enough money to replace carpet. The carpet is over 10yrs old and you can tell because the edges are coming up and the man who clean the carpet one time said they don't make that kind of carpet any more. How can i get the owner to replace the carpet.
I think it's time for you to move. If you've been renting this home for 2 years and the owner hasn't replaced the carpet in 10 years it's obvious that the owner isn't escrowing money for maintenance and repairs. What's going to happen if one of the mechanical systems (plumbing, heating, etc.) fails? Save up your money until you have the enough for the first month's rent and deposit for a new place, then get out as soon as your lease allows. I would definitely keep a record of what the carpet cleaner said and take pictures because chances are this kind of landlord will try to keep your deposit.
Q: So I'm gonna be renting out a place but there is ugly orange stained carpet. What can I do to make it look better? The owner won't let me change the carpet either. :(
Put area rugs over the stains, and put furniture over them too. Couches, chairs, coffee tables, small tables, whatever. You can also try to do a professional deep clean with the carpet, depending on how much you want to spend. The deep clean may also be able to get out the stains.
