Q: i was wondering if you can vacuum shag carpet because i am redoing my room and i always wanted shag carpet but am a neat freak so i wanted to find out if i can vacuum it. --------------------lt;3 Cassie Thanks
Yes, vacuum your room at least once a week. A carpet rake will keep it groomed, many homemaker's use them to keep the carpet looking neat and orderly.
Q: I have a carpeted hallway and it gets very dirty from people, prams etc. Can anyone tell me the best cleaner to use?
If you want something that's more for a specific spot on the rug and that''s quick and easy - try the 409 carpet cleaner (you can get it at the grocery store or walmart) - it's foam that you spray on the rug and then vacuum it up. A good thing about this stuff - I use it on my dry clean only blazers between trips to the dry cleaner - it's great for getting stains around the cuff and any make-up stains on the lapels! Foam it on, rub it in and then use the upholstery attachment on your vacuum to suck it off of the fabric!
Q: 1) How often does the average person scrub their carpets?2) How often does the average person scrub their sofa/furniture?
i steam clean my carpet every 2 weeks or so but that is because i have white carpet and 3 kids, ugh. it is not so good to do it that often cuz it takes away any scotchguard you have on it. i think most people do it every 3-4 months. and vacuum as many days a week as you have people living in your house ie- i have 5 people, so i vacuum monday-friday! ick! for the furniture i would say once or twice a year unless you smoke and then more often.
Q: I used 7lbs of D.E. to battle bed bugs as a post treatment because other tenants have . I've been vacuuming and vacuuming my room to figure out the best way to clean. I'm worried that the powder would turn into mud but testing out the powder in the bowl, I figured that if I change the water depending how many rooms i go through (I have three rooms) i should be okay to avoid clogging or anything. The powder is powder sugar fine and don't build up or stay patted when you do. It's soft and moist to the touch.Do you think with that I can have my carpet cleaned that way? My sister is getting annoyed by all of the powder I've used. lol
With proper care and maintenance, the Rug Doctor Pro is designed to last a lifetime. The outside covering of the machine is made of a durable thick plastic that can withstand hits and bumps without cracking. The Rug Doctor Pro machines are similar in construction to the Rug Doctor rental machines which stay in circulation for over ten years before retirement and are rented, transported and used several times a week.
Q: My cat scratches the rugs in my house to the extent that rug nap is scattered all over every morning. We have both vertical and horizontal scratching posts in which he displays no interest. I tried a product called quot;No Scratchquot; which doesn't work either. What else can I do?
get rid of the rugs
Q: Which do you think hurts more: rug burns or tatami burns?(I don't know what made me think of this, but I know I haven't seen it asked before)
Rugs are better at completely obliterating your skin, but tatami mats can give you slivers. I'd have to go with rug, though.
Q: What's the daily care of all rugs? x
Rugs are normally synthetic so don't need the same daily care as leather tack. They are also not expected to last as long. If taken care of well leather tack can out last your horse, so it's well worth caring for them properly. You want to keep the rugs clean and dry for the health and comfort of your horse, but how this is done varies form owner to owner. In my case: My horse wears a sheet (or fleece cooler when it gets colder) next to her skin and I wash it regularly in the washing machine so she has a clean layer. Over the top she wears her turnout rug. When I groom her I first brush over the rug with a dandy (if it's dry) and spot clean if necessary. Then I remove it and put it over a fence or stable door and bang it against it. I can remove the sheet and shake it more forcibly (the turnout is too heavy for that). If the sheet or cooler is wet at all I hang them to dry and replace it with my spare (I have two of each). If the turnout is soaked through I'll replace it with a stable rug and pay a fee to use a heater to dry the turnout quickly (if I didn't the rug would probably still be wet that night when my horse is turned out out again). It's usually fine though and I use the turn out as a stable rug too, it fits better then the stable rug, and modern rugs can be breathable and waterproof. In spring both the turnout and stable rugs are either washed by hand or sent away for cleaning (my washing machine isn't big enough to take them) and the turnout is reproofed. It's also important to remove and replace the rugs at least once a day even if you don't ride. The horse must be groomed as sweat and grease can built up under the rug and the horse will also enjoy a good scratch with the brushes as they can't do that for themselves when they are rugged.
Q: I am putting in 2 subs in my car with a plate so the subs look like the back of the trunk. Problem is that my carpet has quickly deteorated due to my previous box and I want to replace it. I am going to cut out a plywood sheet to fix the bottom of the car then install the carpet on that. The plywood is going to have a hinge to swing it up so I can get to the spare tired + add extra support. I need to do this by saturday before the subs are installed. What thickness plywood should I use (Thinner is better for me and I am going to drill holes in it for weight reduction) and how do I install the auto carpet so it's smooth and looks nice. Thanks!!!
Use 3/4 inch partical board not plywood you will have to remove seats and all panels. Watch out for those plastic hook pieces which hold the panels in place in the back
Q: I have a carpet shampooer, and I'm doing my spring cleaning, and my carpets are off white, and as you can imagine they get quite dingy, especially in winter when people are walking in snow. I have quite a lot of traffic dirt and random spots. I've not been impressed in the past with the shampoo that came with my machine. Could I use oxiclean in my machine to brighten my carpets?
this isnt a good idea.. Oxiclean is an optical brightener and most home machines dont have the suction to remove all the soap or cleaner once applied and that is why carpets get dingy so quick due to the soap residue and probably like most people recommended is good more is better right? all that added soap dint get pulled out by the machine so it is left to dry in a sticky mess.. using oxiclean and your carpet color Im afraid if sunlight hits it it will turn it kind of an off green color. What I do for my carpets I run vinegar and water. mainly and then spot spray with the cleaner.. depending on the carpets age and material what you are seeing as dirt and dingy may be wear patterns and those will never be removed.
Q: How to clean the paint on the carpet?
Wash with the paint thinner, or if it is water, then boil it with hot water
