- Q:I am looking for a specific recipe. I bought the Better Homes and Gardens Christmas Cookie Magazine last year (2010). But I have recently lost it. Anyone know what the one recipe was? It was either a pumpkin cake or pumpkin bars that called for cream cheese icing in the end. I haven't found any other recipe that lived up to this one. Can anyone help me? I need it for Thanksgiving!
- Better Homes Gardens Autumn Pumpkin Bars Makes: 36 servings 2 cups all-purpose flour 1 1/2 cups sugar 2 teaspoons baking powder 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon 1 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves 4 eggs, lightly beaten 1 15 ounce can pumpkin 1 cup vegetable oil 2 1/2 cups Cream Cheese Frosting or canned cream cheese frosting Ground cinnamon Chopped, toasted pecans or walnuts (optional) Directions 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. In a large bowl stir together flour, sugar, baking powder, 2 teaspoons cinnamon, baking soda, salt, and cloves. Stir in eggs, pumpkin, and oil until combined. Pour batter into an ungreased 15x10x1-inch baking pan, spreading evenly. 2. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool in pan on a wire rack. 3. Spread uncut bars with Cream Cheese Frosting. Sprinkle with additional cinnamon and, if desired, nuts. Cut into bars. Tightly cover bars in pan and chill overnight. 4. Tote bars in pan in an insulated cooler with ice packs. From the Test Kitchen Cream Cheese Frosting Ingredients 2 3 ounce packages cream cheese, softened 1/3 cup butter, softened 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla 4 1/2 - 5 cups powdered sugar Directions In a large bowl combine cream cheese, butter, and vanilla. Beat with an electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy. Gradually beat in powdered sugar to make a frosting of spreading consistency.

- Q:what kind of poisons would be found in remodeling homes in the 1950s that would cause neurologic problems?
- Lead is the only toxin that I can think of. It will be found in the paint as well as in the solder joints of the plumbing. Lead damages a particular kind of brain cell which then produces free radicals due to the damage making its mitochondria less efficient and more polluting. These free radicals then kill off nearby motorneurons which result in the kind of disease Michael J. Fox has. Dementia, on the other hand, is caused more by aluminum, which is helped across the blood/brain barrier by fluoride which is itself a potent neurotoxin. Depression and Anxiety are more often caused by hormonal problems. Specifically when certain toxins usurp iodine from the thyroid and force it to make substitute hormones that don't have the same effect, then this can result in mania, depression, and anxiety, but the precise results vary depending on what element is substituted for the iodine as well as the genetic makeup of the individual. While toxins can accumulate slowly over a lifetime, not showing any noticeable symptoms until the body's tolerance is exceeded, more often than not symptoms are not noticed simply because the onset is so gradual due to the slow buildup. The LD50 of a substance is where 50% of the subjects died from exposure to the substance. The first subject may have died from much less. Some people are more susceptible to toxins than others for a variety of reasons. The only assuredly safe dose is zero. Nevertheless, people continue to cook their food in aluminum cookware using fluoridated water and increasing the amount of aluminum in their brain every day. Some people will show symptoms sooner than others.

- Q:i don't have anything planted in my garden right now but am planning to plant vegetable in the springshould i till my garden and expose the dirt to the winter frost or leave it like it is until i till in the spring
- Yes, if the ground isn't too hard till it now. Frost will break down any clods of dirt and also kill any weeds you turn over. You will then be well away for planting when spring comes.
