Q:I am in search of a Coconut cream pie recipe from the better homes and gardens all time fav pie recipes from 1978 or so
I came along the better homes and gardens websites and I typed in coconut cream pie and a few showed up so below in the source box I give you just pick one of those beside the one I put here Double-Coconut Cream Pie Rated : Not yet rated Rate and Comment Prep: 1 hour Bake: 15 minutes Cool: 1 hour Stand: 30 minutes save to recipe box already saved add to shopping list Create Cookbook Double-Coconut Cream Pie Ingredients * 3 egg whites * 1/3 cup sugar * 1/4 teaspoon salt * 1/4 cup cornstarch * 2 cups milk * 3/4 cup cream of coconut * 3 beaten egg yolks * 2 tablespoons margarine or butter * 1 cup flaked coconut * 2 teaspoons vanilla * 1 9-inch baked pastry shell * 1/2 teaspoon vanilla * 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar * 1/3 cup sugar * 2 tablespoons flaked coconut Directions 1. Let egg whites stand at room temperature for 30 minutes. 2. Meanwhile, for filling, in a medium saucepan combine the first 1/3 cup sugar, cornstarch, and salt. Stir in milk and cream of coconut. Cook and stir over medium heat until thickened and bubbly. Cook and stir for 2 minutes more. Gradually stir about 1 cup of the hot milk mixture into the beaten egg yolks, stirring constantly. Return all of the mixture to saucepan. Cook and stir until bubbly. Cook and stir for 2 minutes more. Remove from heat. Stir in margarine or butter until melted. Stir in the 1 cup coconut and 2 teaspoons vanilla. Pour hot filling into baked pastry shell. 3. For meringue, in a mixing bowl beat egg whites, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla, and cream of tartar on medium speed of an electric mixer until soft peaks form (tips curl). Gradually add 1/3 cup sugar, 1 tablespoon at a time, beating until stiff peaks form. Evenly spread meringue over hot filling; seal to pastry edge. Sprinkle with the 2 tablespoons coconut. Bake in a 350 degree F oven for 15 minutes. Cool for 1 hour on a wire rack. Cover and chill 3 to 6 hours before serving. Makes 8 servings.
Q:My city is experiencing Stage 2 water restrictions. Could you please explain the following?1. What the Aquifer level has to be for each stage to take affect.2. What each stage-limit entails.3. Do restrictions differ from state-to-state? 4. Is it a necessity to water your yard, other than it looking nice? Does it mess with foundation(or whatever)?5. How many stages are there?6. Can the aquifer run completely out of water? What would you do then? P.S: I posted this in HomeGarden, 1 person answered, not much info...didn't know where else to post. sorry...
I answered your other question (in HomeGarden), but thought that you might be interested in a recent news article as well. Althought the Bush Administration is reporting $800 million to help drought stricken farmers, this is money already earmarked for such projects and does nothing to help the individual families in these same areas. Q:cant find the customer service number for better homes and gardens magainze
Hi, okorder /
Q:I'm thinking about planting something in my gardening and my friends tell me that pH is important factor to consider when I'm trying to decide what to plant. What's so important about pH?
In the simplest terms possible, pH is important in gardening because: There are many different nutrients and micronutrients in soil that plants use for many different internal functions. Many of these nutrients which your plant needs can be in the soil, but can't be sucked up by the plant unless the ph is correct. If the pH is too high or low the nutrients can be essentially locked in the soil. However, for the most part, a neutral or 6.5 to 7 pH will do fine for the plants most people typically grow. Store bought potting soil will almost always be around that number. Some plants however prefer a slightly acidic soil, like african violets. pH really shouldn't be much of a problem for you, but if you find your plants are growing extremely slow and look tiny or frail, you might want to test the pH with a kit which can be found at most homegarden centers and adjust as neccessary. Your friends are over exaggerating, however, unless they are referring to the sometimes sensitive cannabis sativa. In that case, test the soil before planting, but you should be more interested in its drainage properties.
Q:width must be provided or the image will not display. I pasted the above and no image displayed. I went back to Webshots and learned that the image size is 425 pixels. I presume the height is greater than the width since the image displays that way, so I reason that the height will be 225 and the width will be 200... but I don't know how to alter the code to include these requirements.

Q:husband built a beautiful porch with planter boxes on the side I want to grow spices can anyone give me links with how to info and pictures of the plants
You probably mean herbs, not spices. Most spices grow in tropical or subtropical areas. Herbs can be grown in the home garden in Northern America and Europe. I've listed a link for growing herbs. Just stay away from the mints-they are too invasive for a planter box.
Q:I am no judge because I am both! Suggested Category Home Garden gt; Decorating Remodeling
shes a brick house.. come on! she is NOT a brick house, im sure.
Q:My friend is named Bryce and he likes rice. He thinks it is absolutely impossible to grow rice in their garden. So is it possible? P.S. He thinks he's wild like wild rice, but I think he resembles calm rice more. Just saying.
Given the price of rice, it wouldn't be practical to try to grow rice in a home garden and I believe it would be very difficult or impossible to grow rice patties in a home garden.
Q:I recently bought the quot;second printingquot; of Better Homes and Gardens' quot;Easy Garden Guide: No-Fail Flowers.quot; It has a number of garden plants, mainly flowers, of course, but nowhere in the guide can I find the flower pictured on the cover. It's a lovely purple flower with an odd look about it. The stamen are extremely pronounced, green, and they seem to be curling back on themselves. The petals, aside from being, well, purple, look a lot like leaves. The leaves themselves are actually more like a bunch of stems than actual leaves. The whole plant seems to be very pointy, all over the place, aside from the stamen. It's a gorgeous, weird little flower, and I'd like to know if I can grow it here in Louisiana. The first few pages on the inside don't have anything mentioning the cover flower from what I can see. Has anyone seen this little magazine? What type of flower is this?
My suggestion is to take the cover down to the local ag center and they can tell you....
Q:Would you rather live in your home, or garden?
In the Garden.
