- Q: When I click on download widget on the Better Homes Gardens website, a loud bell sounds and nothing happens. I want to import that widget to my Yahoo! widget control panel.
- The bell means that it will not allow you to transfer that Widget into Yahoo! Firewall. It is because Yahoo! is only familiar with itself and only itself downloads. Hope it helps :)
- Q: There are a lot of little projects that I would like to do in my home. It was my mother-in-law's home so I would be able to know the history going back 30 years. How should I prioritize the following projects (especially if we plan on living in the home between 5-10 years)?-9 Replacement Windows (currently very drafty single-pane, wood frames) -A friend mentioned that the home's insulation may be shot (not sure) would this be a better investment than windows?-Bathroom (sq. footage unknown but not very large, I would say 8ftx6ft space includes sink/tub/toilet small built-in cabinet)-Kitchen (again, sq. footage unknown but cabinets are 30+ years old and there are only 3 lower cabinets, 2 small drawers and very little counter space)-Landscaping
- Who are these people? How many homes have they refurbished? Look. If you don't have it sealed from the weather you'll lose it all. Start with the roof. If there is rot up there, replace it before replacing the roofing. Make sure someone knows what they are doing with flashing: You don't want leaks or set the place up to burn it down at the flues. Then, you need to make sure your drainage is good. Start with establishing a minimum slope of 1/foot for the first ten feet out from the house, all around. Be sure the gutters and downspouts are in good repair and the water is taken away from the building.. It is essential that you have 4 perforated drain pipe and 7/8 washed gravel below footing height all around. And if you hand dig, do not dig deeper than chest height without adequate shoring so you don't kill yourself. Now, assure the rest of the house is out of the weather... windows, doors, felt or other sheeting product, trim and siding. You are now ready for the interior in this order: plumbing, electrical. insulation, sheet rock, tape, texture, paint, trim, doors, cabinets, finish plumbing, finish electrical, and finish hardware...landscaping. Do any of this out of order and you are setting yourself up for rip-outs.
- Q: I'm wondering which of these two stores is better to go to for gardening tools and supplies. Someone help and tell me why!! :)

- Q: I know enough about recycling and car emissions, but how about activities around the home?
- You can use cleaning products that do not harm you or your surroundings. Changing light bulbs to more energy efficient types. Recycling as much as possible and not purchase products with lots of packaging. Grow your own produce. Cook from scratch using organic, in season produce. Use paint with no VOCs. Have live plants in your home - air purifiers. Reuse as much as possible in new ways. Purchase energy star appliances. Unplug all recharges when not in use. Purchase products that are reclaimed, made from recycled products, or second hand. Stop junk mail. Just to name a few.

- Q: How do you get clients?
- Please join a professional organization and establish credentials. If you are in US, every state has a nursery and landscape association.. Contact your local extension office and inquire about educational programs. (google your state and the words 'extension office') Most offer one day seminars on various topics. They will have a mailing list you should ask to be placed on to receive information regularly about educational opportunities. They also have classes on starting business, estimating jobs, etc. There are a lot of folks who want to be in the landscape business. There are a lot of folks in the business who don't have proper training. Distinguish yourself by being one of those who knows what they are doing.
