- Q: I got heaps of these really small black flies that are breeding in my home. They look just like a black ant (same size, black, thin, long) but then when you look up close they have 2 wings on them. A friend gave us a printer and noticed the whole thing was infested with them. Now the printer has gone, they wont go. They tend to be hanging around our window glass and sills in our bathrooms, bedrooms, kitchen. I cant spray anymore as its giving me allergies. What are they? and how can I rid them?
- Your description sounds like termites. The flying soldiers. or those ants with wings. Anytime i find a bug in my house i spray it with alcohol. Well check out these picture. It might help you determine witch one it is. flrec.ifas.ufl.edu/entomo/ants/Ant%20vs%20Termite.htm

- Q: I have a small home garden my backyard about 20' by 4'. I have the standard home garden vegetables planted, tomatoes, peppers, basil, celery, etc. I was thinking about planting some red clover in between all the plants to create a nice bed that will choke out weeds so I don't have to weed all the time, put some nitrogen back in soil, and hold in moisture during those long hot dry spells here in New Jersey. The plants are all at least a foot tall now. Would you recommend this? Or would the clover and the vegetables start competing and therefor take away from my harvest? I figured they are all big enough now that the clover will stay well below them. But I don't know if underground there will be a battle going on with the root systems. I already plan on planting the clover in the fall when everything is done growing and then till it in in the spring. Thanks!
- The trick with a cover crop is that you are tilling it into the soil before it flowers to return the nitrogen it pulls from the air into the soil. Planting it between garden plants might not be the best. If you do it, you'll at least want to mow it regularly to keep it from flowering, setting seed, and coming up EVERYWHERE in your garden. Usually cover crops are sown, grown, and tilled under either in the off season (fall/winter/early spring) or for a season in a field that is being rested (growing no crops that you're going to harvest).

- Q: any advice?what do i need?i've never done this before.....
- Start okorder This is a method of making planting beds that are four foot square, and planting them with a variety of vegies (or flowers if you do not want vegie garden) to get the most produce out of the smallest space. My beds have a mixture of peat, aged manure, compost and top soil. I water the plants by filling 5 gallon buckets with the water, and using a large cup or empty pop bottle to pour the water at the base of each plant.
- Q: In the book it describes different ways you can use stuff that you would throw away, ex. such as lint from a dryer, you would save it and put it in a orange bag so the birds can go to it and make their nests. Another example from the book, it tells you that you can take a kiddie pool and make your own little pond by digging a hole and placing the pool in the hole, then you simply get water plantlife and create an exotic mini-pond. Another tip it gives is by planting tomatoes in 5-gallon buckets and hanging them upside down for clean big and red tomatoes. Also there is one where it says you can plant potatoes in a 5-gallon bucket and when they are ready for picking you can just dump out the bucket for easier harvesting. If anyone has any idea of the name of the book please respond. The title has something to do with saving you loads of money throughout the year.
- This okorder . You can search for the book by catagory. I would start with home and garden. You might also want to try search phrases like money saving tips, home recycling tips, and others. I'll bet it won't take you long to find it. Good luck with your search.
