Instruction of pump type
For example            LW44P Left-11JA
LW—Large scale vertical single-stage single-suction volute centrifugal   pump.
44— inlet diameter 44 inch.
P—the pump foundation plate is changed
Left—the rotation of impeller is clockwise looking from the motor to the pump.No indication when the rotation of impeller is counter clockwise.
22—the number obtained from the pump specific speed divided by 10.
I—Difference of impeller in construction, indicating Ⅰ, Ⅱ…… .
A—Outer diameter of impeller has bee changed. Indicating A, B, C…….

Structure
*The pump is vertically installed with the inlet vertical downward and the outlet horizontal extending.
*The pump and the motor are connected directly and mounted on one concrete foundation.
* The seal usually uses packing seal.
*The pump adopts rolling bearings.
*The impeller has construction of balancing rib.
* The axial force is carried by the motor.

The direction of rotation
The rotation of pump rotor is counter clockwise looking from the motor to the pump. Indicating “left” in pump type if you require the rotation of pump rotor is clockwise .Both rotation mode have same performance data.

Q: When I turn on my pump for the pool water-fountain it will run for 30 seconds or 4 minutes or anywhere in between then it just shuts off. I push the remote on button on again and it runs for a few seconds. Sometimes it will run for a while longer but mostly short durations. Thanks in advance for your help.
For it to cycle it fairly is maximum possibly a overheat thermostat change someplace on the motor. A fuse would not reset itself. Are you particular the pump is circulating water. If water isn't flowing and motor is on motor can particularly overheat. have you ever tried priming the pump; the pump can no longer artwork if there is air in the pump or pump intake line (pour water down the pump to do away with air)
Q: what is NPSH for the water pump. Can you anyone explain in details? How can it calculate?
Net Positive Suction Head Equation
Q: Hi, I own a 2004 chev. venture and the water pump is getting noisy (most likely the bearings) I priced a refurbished one online at $18 and am wandering if this is a task I could handle myself, or if I'd most likely screw it up
Te ASE will HUNT YOU DOWN, they are not an organization to trifle with! Seriously, it all depends on your degree of mechanical ability, and the info source you will use to do the job. If you go out and purchase a repair manual for your vehicle, then I would say yes, you can do that job yourself.
Q: I have a 1999 Chrysler LHS. Recently, the water pump started leaking and it ruined the timing belt. I brought it to a mechanic that I've never used before, so I have no idea how reliable they are. They now told me that my brake lines blew. Can the leaking water pump also cause brake lines to rot?
i doubt that the antifreeze would make the brake lines leak ! those are steel brake lines and if they can stand up against road salt then antifreeze won,t hurt them ! if a brake line started to leak then it was rotted !
Q: An engineer is given the job of designing the water system for a tall building. He decides to locate the pumps at ground level and feed the entire building from there. If the top floor of the building is 236 m above ground level, what must the pressure be at pump level?
23.6 E5 Pa
Q: We bought a second hand Rover 75, three months later head gasket blew. This was replaced but blew again due to original wet liners. A reconditioned engine was then put in but head gasket blew again due to original water pump. I am not trying to ascertain blame i would just like to know which is accurate as car seller is saying fault of mechanic as should have changed wet liners and water pump and mechanic is saying it is not common practice to change this parts when you replace a head gasket or engine. Thanks for any clarification, especially if you are a mechanic yourself.
It seems excessive to have to remove the engine to replace a head gasket. But I typically work on American cars, and I've seen the inside of an Altima, it is quite cramped. If I were you, I'd search google for replace head gasket procedure nissan altima and see what it comes back with.
Q: I have an 1985 cadillac fleetwood hearse and the water pump is shot to hell. where do get a good cheep one.
Autozone, O'Reilly's, Napa, or Pep Boys. Most water pumps are anywhere from 30 - 150 bucks for any car.
Q: For a Dodge Ram 1500 pick-up. Not taking it to a mechanic.Already got the new pump. Got part of the engine off.Dont exactly have the right tools to make the job go fast but would like some tips on how to make it go faster..
Honestly having the Chilton or Hayes repair manual will help greatly in understanding how it should all come apart. They run about $25.00 at you auto parts store. Having the proper tools will make the job go as smooth and quickly as possible. Most basic kits and be picked up at auto part stores for around 65.00 bucks. This is the best advice I can give a beginner who has just jumped right in there. Watch what you are taking apart and make sure that it is something that HAS to come off. There is no reason taking something out of the car if it's not going to help the project. When you picked up the water pump did you make sure to get too new radiator hoses? I will often replace the upper and lower hose when I do water pumps. Most likely they have been on there as long as the pump and it's time to change them. Not to mention now would be a great time to replace the thermostat on the engine as well to allow proper water flow through the engine. Also make sure you have the distilled water handy with the anti-freeze. Using distilled water keeps the radiator from becoming clogged with minerals that are normally found in your city water. It helps extend the life of your cooling system. I hope this helps. If you have any more questions feel free to E-mail me.

Q: I have oil all over my water pump. I investigated when I saw a few drops of oil in the garage that showed up every few days. I then saw a drop of clean radiator fluid. Does oil come near or through the water pump? I have a 96 nissan maxima if that helps.
The first place a car will leak oil is usually the valve covers. Regular maintenance requires valve adjustments, and to do this, the valve covers come off a few times in 10 years. If you have a four syllable motor, the front of the valve cover is right above the water pump, so a valve cover leak would dribble down the water pump. Your water pump could be leaking (if you've never replaced it in the 10 years since your car was made). I'd bet you have both problems. I'm too soon old, and too late smart, so I've let water pumps go because it's only leaking a little. When the shaft begins to get wobbly, it will let loose with a caBANG! and damage something when it flings off the fan. Moral to the story: Replace the water pump, and get a new gasket for the valve covers.
