3) What is the difference of Wilton Carpet and Axminster carpet
Wilton carpet, like Axminster carpet, is woven. However the difference between the two methods is the way in which the carpet is woven. Whereas the Axminster yarn is woven into each weft and then cut to the required pile height and then reinserted when that colour is needed again –the Wilton carpet yarn is a continuous strand woven all the way through.
- Q: We have a fairly large area rug in our living room but over time it has become wrinkled. I don't want to buy a new one yet, so how can we get it to lay flat against the carpet and not bunch up with stubborn wrinkles anymore?
- Do NOT wet the rug if you do not know what the fiber content is. Silk and wool for example may shrink. Use carpet tape to secure it flatly to the floor. It will take a couple of people, remove any furniture inhibiting its placement. Lay out the rug where you want it and have 4 people shuffle the rug out to the corners and stand there using their body weight as anchors. Tape the edges about 12 inches in at a diagonal. Have another person literally use double sided carpet tape found at the home improvement center tape 3-5 inches in from the edge of the rug by folding the edges in, applying the tape and having all four people shuffle that end to the tape line. Yes, you will have the corners anchored with tape diagonally and then again 3-5 inches from the sides above that. This helps edges to keep from curling or becoming trip hazards. Once the carpet is stretched and anchored with the tape, you will not encounter stubborn wrinkles UNLESS you move furniture by sliding it and not picking it up completely off the rug to move it.
- Q: I am remodeling a room and I'm not sure if I should put in the baseboard or the carpet first. Also, if the baseboard is first how much of a clearance does the carpet need to get tucked under?
- Base board first, it is easier to paint and fill the finish nail holes, a good carpet installer can get it under the baseboard easily enough. about 1/2 inch We build custom homes and always do the baseboard first then paint/caulk /puddy then carpet. But baseboard always go on after tile installation in areas with tile.

- I've got a rug right now that the same thing has happened to. I had it in our yard storage building over two summers, and went to get it out to bring it back into use and the backing has crumbled. If I am thinking of the same thing, what you mean by backing is that rubbery, or gluey stuff they treat the back of the rug with to keep the pile from shifting.. I haven't done this yet, and it's going to be a bit of a chore, but I'm going to a fabric store to look for some kind of fairly heavy fabric, kind of like they actually use on those better quality rugs. It's attached only round the edges of the rug, but it would sure cover up the yukky look of the dried, crumbled sealant on the back. You'd need a heavy duty upholstery type needle to do it with, and then just turn the edges of the fabric under, and hand-stitch it to the back of the rug.

- 1. Put some ice cubes in a bowl. 2. Place the ice cubes along the dented areas of carpeting or in the spot where a piece of furniture was set. Place cubes about 2 inches apart. (See Tips below. ALWAYS test first, and be especially cautious if you have wood floors under your carpeting.) 3. Let the ice cubes rest on the carpet for several hours or overnight, at least until cubes are completely melted. 4. Allow the carpet to dry completely. 5. Vacuum the carpet in the areas where you set the ice cubes. 6. Carpet fibers should now be returned to their normal upright position. If they're still lying down, fluff them up with your finger tips. 7. Reapply ice cubes if needed. 8. Please read important TIPS below. Tips: 1. ALWAYS test this method first with one ice cube in an inconspicuous spot. Lift carpet corner to see that the water hasn't damaged the under flooring. 2. Be CAREFUL if you have wood floors underneath! Test first to make sure moisture does not damage the wood! 3. DO NOT use this method on hand dyed rugs, antique carpets, delicate or valuable rugs, or on fibers not compatible with water cleaning.

- Some of the new carpet foam cleaners work really great...and smell good too....I don't know how much carpet you have to clean....but they do work....just spray on the carpet...get a bunch of paper towels.....and wipe off....or let set for a few minutes...and repeat.....you have to do it by hand....so it will take a while.... ...some stains though are really hard to get out....others...from everyday dirt...the spray carpet cleaners really do help....

I am a muslim residing in SaudiArabia.. prayer rugs vary in price from about 10riyals up to hundreds of riyals.. depends on the quality.. you can find vary cheap ones that get the job done that you can find at any 5 and 10 store... or if you go to the oriental market places you can find really nice iranian/persian hand made ones in hundreds of riyals... so.. average price.. a decent one I would pay about 100dollars for a good quality not so expensive one...
