Wilton carpet, like Axminster carpet, is woven. However the difference between the two methods is the way in which the carpet is woven. Whereas the Axminster yarn is woven into each weft and then cut to the required pile height and then reinserted when that colour is needed again –the Wilton carpet yarn is a continuous strand woven all the way through.

Q: I need carpet and pad installed in my home. I will remove old carpet. What is the estimated installation cost. Appx 1100 sf. thanks
Carpet prices vary widely as does quality. But you can get a mid grade carpet and pad to cover any warranties for around 3$ a s/f installed. Of course you can get a better carpet ( and cheaper ) but you generally get what you pay for.. Don t down grade pad since this is the back bone of any carpet..If any thing this is one place to up grade to what you can afford. GL
Q: How to deal with the odor of new carpet
Ventilation. Plant law is also possible, you can also adopt commonly used method. You can also use activated carbon, put carpet and activated carbon in an airtight space for few days. At the same time, it can disperse the taste, hang the carpet on the balcony
Q: what material carpet is better if the house is humid?
wool carpet is not suitable for wet house, because it is easy to mildew and become smelly. you can try plastic carpet, but it is not beautiful
Q: We bought our house 2 months ago. We didn't mind the carpet. It is very nice carpet. However, the house was built in 1955 and has origional hardwood floors under the carpet. Here is the problem... it looks like there are hardwoods, a new sub floor and the carpet. My concern is that removing the sub floor will ruin the floors under. What has your expirance been?
After having just removed the carpeting in my house, I can tell you this: if they put a subfloor on top of hardwood, there was something wrong with the hardwood. It is not necessary in order to lay carpet. Padding and tack boards are all that are needed--which really don't ruin the hardwood. (You may want to fill a few nail holes from the tack strips.) Lots of houses have hardwood that is only finished around the edges--if you pull up the subfloor and find unfinished board flooring, that's one reason they laid the subfloor. Another reason might be that there was bad damage to the hardwood which made it uneven. A finished hardwood floor rarely needs subfloor for carpeting unless it is damaged or otherwise totally unusable as hardwood flooring. Since your house was built in 1955, it could have very badly damaged floors. There is only one way to check that--pull up the carpet in a corner, and the subfloor under that--and check. If the floors are not damaged, then the only damage will be from nail holes--which can be filled, sanded and revarnished.
Q: How long is the life of the carpet?
Chemical fiber carpets are generally cheaper, but the best is the silk carpet: it depend on what kind of Pure natural carpet you want to buy. it is harmless to human bodies, in general, it is no problem to use over ten years.. The worst is the chemical fiber, not containing chemical raw materials, generally use six months or a year.
Q: My apt is approx. 900 sq ft. Minus the 2 bathrooms, and dining and kitchen rooms is about 860 sq ft maybe. I want my old carpet to be replaced with the soft carpet. The one that is not too furry. Not Berbar carpets and not commercial. My current one is 10 years old and is commercial. I hate it cuz it roughens my feet over the years and i have to wear slippers.
860 square feet is 95.5 yards. The style of carpet you want is a sculptured plush, which can retail anywhere from 17.99 a yard upwards to 35.00 a yard. If you were to figure 19.99 a yard, for instance times 95 yards you would have around 1910.00 for only the carpet! You must also take into consideration the following costs: Removal of old carpet and pad- both the labor and the hauling away. New pad. Installation labor costs. Any cost for furniture or appliance moving or disconnecting. Moldings or cove base or quarter round. If your landlord was looking at commercial carpet it is due to the fact that it will stand up to the normal abuse most tennants subject flooring to. I work in a flooring store and I also own a rental. I know the usual life of carpet in a rental and the cost of the materials and labor for my area. In your area, it is likely that your costs would be much higher than here, since I live in a small town. Hope that helps! p.s. without actually looking at the installation area in person, to quote you a realistic price would be impossible!
Q: Kids took natural fiber rug outside while cleaning hardwood floors. Boom - Super thunderstorm. Next day rug is soaked, its not looking good at all. is there anything I can do to recover it? After a day or two in the sun trying to dry it out one spot near edge is beginning to grow mold. Can I save it?
See if you can clean on both sides, get rid if the mold and hang it over a clothes line. You might need several clothes poles to support the weight, then pray for some dry weather until it is dry.
Q: Hello, I need to buy a big, squared burgundy rug (or in any dark red for that matter).I want to cover a room thats 16.6 x16.6 ft It would be fine if doesnt to cover the whole room, Im just looking for possibilities. Nothing fancy, its only to cover horrible flooring.Do you know any online stores that would sell them for a low price?BTW, Im willing to buy a used one and my budget is $400. Thank you!
If you buy a rug that big on line, the shipping is going to be a couple of hundred $$. I've had good luck at auction houses where I've gotten hand made persian carpets for less than nondescript stuff at discount stores. You just have to be able to get it home.
Q: I had a bad stain on my carpet that nothing would remove. So I tried peroxide on it, and it took it out. So I was wondering if peroxide, baking soda, and things of that nature can be used in carpet cleaning machines?
You are lucky the peroxide worked and didn't ruin your carpeting, because peroxide usually bleaches anything it touches. I wouldn't put in in a carpet cleaning machine. I would not use baking soda in a machine either; it will gum it up. I would use manufacturer recommended cleaning solutions.
Q: How soft is the carpet after washing?
After several dry foam carpet after washing, some foam debris and fiber bottom could not wash, then, must adopt the pumping method will bottom dirt, sand, water, and can make the rolling brush, absorb away dirt, restore the original soft and clean.
