- Q: I want to start dumbbell chest press to expand my chest and muscles. I'm a begginer and doing this first time. I'm 32 year male with 140lb weight. Can anybody help me to find out what size (meant weight in lb) I have to start with? And as a begginer how many repetations per day I have to start with?
- just lift dumbells ur comfortable with ,,but it must be a bit challenging though...not like u can just fly them...best way to do is do a warm up first with 16 reps or more with a lighter weight ,,then do three sets (with a slightly heavier one) ,,i mean proper form,weight though doesnt matter when ur starting,,three sets of 12 or more reps i mean take each set to failure ,,as the last reps of the set are the most effective,,combine dumbell press with dumbell flies and bench press,,alternate between these chest execises,,twice a week,,and never two days continously...now doing these exercises increase ur range,,ur speed and then increase weights...over weeks...hmmm diet still is the most important part though no matter how much u work out...atb
- Q: What are some key features of self regulation (specifically to do with the press) that make it favorable?
- The freedom of the press is a paramount right, it cannot function under an external form of regulation. Why? Well, who would set the regulation? The government. The Press is called the Fourth Estate for a reason. If they are not able, for whatever reason, to report on the actions of the government then they are not able to fulfill their purpose. And what is the primary purpose of the Press? To serve as a check and a balance against the government. You can't have the fox guarding the hen house, it just won't work.
- Q: How long does it take to see results, usually? And what is the best way to make the chest poke out, I guess? I heard doing incline bench presses help; can someone verify it please?
- Gary, You usually will be able to see results from bench pressing in about 2 weeks. Make sure that you are lifting weight that you are comfortable with and also with a spotter for safety reasons. Incline bench press will help out your upper chest and shoulder areas. If you want to really get a killer chest, do chest fly's with dumbbells. This will strictly work mainly your chest muscles. Combining these two exercises together, you should be able to see substantial results in about 3 weeks to a month. Hopes this helps you Gary!
- Q: Cathy Johnson says she uses cold press illustration board for her pen and ink drawings in her book. I have the problem of the ink bleeding on to the paper when I stop the pen. I am using ordinary copy paper. Would illustration board help? Can you purchase it in a pad?
- ennelier Carte d' Art is a delightful 340gm (approx 140 lb) paper that is excellent for multiple media use -- it is a nice heavy, firm board at a reasonable price. It comes in pads of various sizes as well. This is my choice for pen and ink and watercolor washes.

- the best way is too do push ups. It simulates the bench press with your body weight. If you can not do a push up normally, build up to them by putting your weight on your knees and doing the same motion. Also, dips help if you have 2 bars somewhat high off of the ground. They mainly build your tri's but they help with your chest also.

- keep the protein shakes! but heres what you do. you can either switch up your rep set scheme, such as if your doing 3x10 switch up to 3x5 but use a higher weight. or you can switch it up from barbell bench press to dumbbell bench press. either of these will bust that plateau! keep on lifting! edit: to the guy above me a 5x5 ramping weight routine(aka madcow) is a little to advanced for this kid. he still has some gains to go befer he majorly plateuas and needs it.
