- Q: For my botany class, we're supposed to find 1 sample of plant each from 10-12 different families, press them, and mount them. They are due this Thursday (3 days from now).I had already pressed all the plants needed well ahead of time using the plant press with straps and newspaper. I waited about a week to for them to dry fully, and they were all nice and flat - but someone thought they were trash and threw them away! I should have hid them in my room, but obviously it's too late for that.Now I gathered more plants to replace them, but I don't think I have enough time to press them normally. I heard that I can place foil on top of each individual plant and use a clothes iron to flatten and dry them quickly. Will this work? It doesn't need to be a work of art, it just needs to be recognizable and intact for mounting. Thanks for any advice - it's much appreciated.
- OUCH! That is painful. I would not recommend the iron and foil, since that would prematurely wilt the plant, and the foil is likely to damage the plant. Instead use the iron on the lowest heat setting and go evening while the leaf is between paper to cloth. !!!!!!!!!!! WARNING !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please make sure the plants that you are doing this do not contain toxic oils that may vaporize from the heat or taint your iron and harm you. If you think you can not iron it place it between new paper, and press them individually under some text books or heavy objects for a day or two, individually will prevent the excess moisture from more plants to keep them wet. The next day take them out and let them dry on a flat, warm and dry room, they should dry quickly that way and still remain somewhat flat. And you could stick a large note saying NOT GARBAGE

- I got mine at the local grocery store for around 20 dollars. It is not the greatest machine but it does the trick. Maybe buy a cheaper one to see if it works for you, i'm sure you can spend a lot more than $20 on one.
- Q: Im doing a Physics project, where I have been asked to create a hydraulic press. It must use pistons and syringes will not suffice. - I suggest that you go to google and search the image section for a basic hydraulic press, to get a 'view' of the simplicity and complexity of a presses,,,,,then attempt the following:: Build yourself a very strong(steel) rectangular framework... Then, using either a 'hydraulic bottle jack', or parts of a hydraulic car lift jack to be the pressing element. You need to attach the jack to one end of the rectangular framework, then as you apply hydraulic pressure(hand pumping the jack) the cylinder's rod will extend and press against the other end of the framework. This press can squeeze whatever you place between the rod and the end of the framework....modify as necessary to press something IN or OUT. This is a very basic beginning.....good luck ...If you have access to hydraulic and air cylinders, along with either high pressure oil pumps, or high pressure air supply, you can build a sophisticated unit, approaching a more realistic press.

- Q: Most people do dumb-bell presses exactly the way they do bench-press that is, gripping the bar/dumb-bells with palms facing to the front.Some choose to rotate the palms inwards while lowering the dumb-bells so that the length of the dumb-bells is parallel to the torso. But I've seen a couple people do flat/inclined dumb-bell presses with their palms facing towards their face all the time. No rotation at all.What does this work on? - ive seen this also either i ask pros for help to see if this is safe or correct but if not in their presence i try it out and if i feel like its doing more work and isnt hurting me i incorporate it in my workouts another good chest isolator is weighted push ups its a lot more work than just benching b/c its at least 50 percent your body weight plus the weight on your back even if your benching more than your body weight you'll see the difference between them when doing it also incline or handstand push ups puts 60 to 100 percent of body weight on your arms back and chest super good work out also military press jumping jacks do wonders for your chest you just have to make sure even when jumping you keep correct form here is one of my little circuits i do to tone lift build strength for a whole body but also your mirror muscles abs,chest,back,ect will get much love from this dead lift 1 rep then weight back to floor to power clean straight to military press jumping jack about 5 reps to shoulder squat 5 reps back to floor then repeat of course with heavy weight you might chop this down to fewer reps, as well as if you choose lighter weight you might do more reps
