- Q: which muscle groups should be concentrated on that assist on increasing overhead press?
- bench press is all chest, whereas overhead press is more shoulders.
- Q: i see people doing an incline and some lying flat on theri back doing a flat bench press. does it excerise different muslcles or just works the same and its just for comfort? and what the difference also on the bench press machine where the stack of weights are behind your head?
- the two positions work different areas of you chest, flat works the middle and incline works the upper parts, you got more than one 'chest muscle' and they need to be isolated in the work-out to get the best results.incline for upper, decline for lower and flat for the middle
- Q: Hi. Long story short a girl pressed assault charges on me. Her cousin told me that the POLICE are pressing charges. Can the police press charges? (I haven't even spoken to them yet. They've never contacted me.)
- Let me walk you through this. The girl files a complaint with the police. This can be as simple as calling the police and telling them you assaulted her, then answering their questions when they come out to talk to her. She really doesn't press any charges, but people say she is pressing the charges if she doesn't retract her story and says she thinks you should be punished for what you did. The police decide if they have enough evidence for an arrest (they don't always get this right). Assuming that the girl tells a credible story, and all the other evidence adds up, the police arrest you, take you to jail, and prepare an arrest/incident report for the DA. While you sit stewing in jail (even if only for a few minutes), the DA reviews the evidence that the police have gathered, and decides whether to press charges or not. The DA is the person who actually presses the charges.
- Q: Does pressed powder cover up redness on your face???How can i cover redness up??
- Well, it really depends on what powder you buy. Something such as MACs Studio Fix Powder would give excellent coverage, because it was meant to be a powder foundation. Something like NARS pressed powder, no, not so much. What i would suggest for concealing redness is a good concealer. I like the Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer and the Kevyn Aucion Sensual Skin Enhancer. Don't buy into the products with a green tint, which are meant to neautralize redness. No matter what, it just looks like you have put some kind of green make-up on your face. The only one that really works is the Make-Up Forever HD Foundation Primer in green. Just put on a bit before all your othe makeup, and all your redness is GONE! It's a miricale.
- Q: How to breathe while doing standing military press?
- I am assuming you mean a overhead barbell/dumbbell press. If so, you exhale on the hard part (pushing the weight up), and you inhale on the easy part (lowering the weight). EDIT: Not if you do the valsalva-maneuver. How you blow up a balloon. You forcefully exhale through pinched lips. It’s kind of like holding your breath while exhaling. That way you keep your abdominal area isometrically contracted for spinal support. It is not recommended for those with hypertension. You also have to be careful because if you do it too long, you can pass out -- it restricts (while increasing blood pressure) blood flow to the head (as well as other parts of the body). It can also cause an extreme drop in blood pressure at the end of a really heavy lift involving a long valsalva-maneuver (which can also cause you to pass out). So, I would recommend letting the weight down as quick as possible after a heavy lift involving a long valsalva-maneuver -- especially if you begin to feel light headed. You may be able to find out more about it if you “Google” it. Best of luck and good health!
- Q: Alright so I have been lifting for about 3 months now...but my bench press is just not getting stronger. Ive been stuck at around 135-140 for anywhere from 8-12 reps depending on how i feel. I think I have pretty good form, I just dont know what I'm doing wrong. My other lifts are increasing, including other pressing movements such as my military press. My military press, in the past few months has gone around 80 pounds for 10 reps to now about 100 pounds for 10 reps, which I guess is ok progress but definitely not amazing. I am 17 years old, 6 foot 3 and weight about 170 pounds. I eat ALOT, and after workouts i supplement with protein shakes. I have been gaining weight fairly steadily. My only problem is my bench press, for some reason i just cant get it to increase. Thanks in advance :)
- Stop doing so many reps. Start doing your 5 rep max three times every 3 or 4 days, you should be increasing your lift a good 5 pounds every time. Yeah, it doesn't sound like much, but it's better than zero progress. Last of the 15 reps should be about where your muscles fail. Remember to eat plenty of proteins post-workout. Higher reps with less weight = form, fewer reps with more weight = function.
- Q: Please, no suggestions about perms because I absolutely refuse to get another perm...Only interesed in pressed hair solutions...I have been natural for slightly over 2 years. I have been going to a salon to get my hair pressed, but I am wondering if every two weeks (twice a month) is too often. She does the new school pressing where she blow dries it straight and then straightens the hair with a ceramic flat iron--she does not actually use the hot comb. I am very satisfied with how it looks and feels, but I'd like to know if once every two weeks is too often for hair to be pressed/ flat-ironed.
- I think every two weeks is fine! I used to do that then switched to once or twice a week which was a bad idea. Unless you feel your hair is thinning/breaking/feeling dry then maybe you should try to do it less. Most of all, moisture your hair with a deep conditioner once a week.
- Q: Ok I will be 16 in March here(today is 2/16/09), I'm 5'11-6'0(somewhere between there) and weigh 161 ilbs and I can bench press 185 ilbs.
- There is really no good bench press and bad bench press. Everyone is different and can lift different amounts. If that is your heaviest you can lift, I think that is pretty good for you, but someone the same size and weight might lift 100lbs and that could be good for them.
- Q: 6th grade girl basketball coach, were going to be playing alot of teams that press alot and i need a easy press breaker for these girls cause we were put into the league late and dont have alot of time to work on it from what little i seen on acouple of teams play last year they play alot of man to man full court with an occasional double team.one advantage i got is i can have 3 or 4 descent ball handlers at the same time.but if i can countinously beat their press and force them to try to slow the game down i can put my best player in,shes hefty but a muscle inside we can shut from outside with no fear cause she boxes out so well shell get the rebound and in result give us 20 pts a game but shes so hefty she cant handle the fast pace game so please help me come up with a soluton thanks
- My team used a very easy press break. It's a bit hard to explain, but when it comes together, it works like a dream. - First, you have two players on either side of the court, waiting for the inbound. - Once inbounded, the Passer, steps into the center of the court. - They pass amongst themselves till they find an opening in the press. - Meanwhile, there are two other people standing at about midcourt, on both sides. - The person at midcourt standing opposite the side the ball is on will run to the middle of the floor looking for possible passes. - If the ball is passed to them, he/she can either bring the ball up more or turn, and pass to the opposite side. Press is broken. Sorry, it's very hard to explain. Down below, I made you a picture to illustrate what I mean. X's are your team. Dotted lines are passes being made, and Solid lines are Where the players move. Hope this helps. I deserve the best answer because I drew you a diagram.
- Q: Yesterday I got a travel mug from Starbucks that's a french press. Its my first time ever even seeing a french press so I'm a little confused I guess. I made a cup today and it turned out just OK, But I like cream and sugar in my coffee and I'm not sure the best way to make this yet. can anyone give me any tips...
- So far I use it like an actual press and not a mug. Thus, I make the coffee and pour it on another cup when it's done. So far so good. Some people have complained about a plastic taste to their coffee if you leave the coffee in there too long (since the press has plastic parts). I've had no problems so far.
