- Q:I ordered basic digital cable from my local cable company (Comcast). I was just wondering when they come out to install it, how will they limit my channels to just the ones in the basic package? Do they handle this at the head-end, or is it done at the junction box outside my apartment? Do they install some kind of filter on the line? And if so do you suppose the installer comes out with other filters in his truck? Just curious, of course.
- With digital cable, the access is controlled by your cable box. Everything is broadcast, and the head end periodically decides whether that particular box is authorized to decode that channel. If so, the box is authorized for another epoch. With analog cable, many years ago they would put a filter in at the connection sometimes.
- Q:hi anybody who can help ive fitted a kenwood stereo in replacement of my factory fitted tape stereo i still want to use the steering wheel remote control as it doesnt work now.do i need a code? adapter? plug osmething in? all help appreciated cheers
- Yeah it can be done, but you need a 'Control Stalk' cable (the name may vary! I've come across a few names for these cables). Basically, there was a cable which connected from your steering wheel to your old stereo (which allowed you to control it), and now there is nothing to connect this cable to your new stereo. So what you need it: A control stalk specific for your car (Renault Clio 05for example) and then a Kenwood control stalk adapter. The car-specific cable will plug in to the existing cable which once plugged in to your old stereo, and the Kenwood cable will plug in to your Kenwood headunit. You will then connect these 2 cables together and hey presto!
- Q:I'd like to use a single cable box to watch cable (in high-def) from my living room and bedroom. They're not far apart, they're just partitioned in such a way that I can't swing the living room TV around or anything like that when I want to watch TV from the bedroom. I know I could just split the coaxial cable from the living room into the bedroom, directly into the TV, but that wouldn't give me high-defand just to be clear, I don't need the TV's to be viewed independently. Both TV's can be displaying the same channel.Any ideas?
- Look for a decent quality component or HDMI splitter. This will allow you to split the output from the Cable box to both TV's just how you want it.
- Q:Hello everyone. I just built a new PC that is running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. I want to transfer my music and videos what not from my old machine. My old machine is running Windows Vista Home 32-bit. I tried connecting them via a Crossover Cable. Neither of them show when I go to ComputerNetwork tab. Is this not possible or do I just not have it set up correctly. Are there any other ways to move my data? I heard of male-to-male USB transfer cables, are they good? Any and all advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

- Q:I tried answers on demand. I tried the retarded website. I read through the stupid manual like 10000 times. I even followed all the dumb procedures. My brother is a retarded dummy. He set the volume on the TV to the max and the volume on the cable to the low. He even messed up the the remote set somehow and the volume for the cable box is out. Since he mixed matched it, you can't hear anything. How do I fix this?Remote#: UR5U-8700L-TWY

- Q:I have cable service in my place that I am paying for but I just sold my tv. I also have enternet service. I am just wondering if there is a way that I can watch my cable to on my pc without a tv. I sold my tv because I am moving but not for about a week or so.
- of course u can! usually u need a tv tuner on ur comp and a comp with a tv tuner usually has the right software to play it. as for tv through ethernet, i've seen it done and that's waht my big sister does but i don't know how it works or much about it
- Q:I bought a Cutlass Ciera yesterday as a side project, noticed it has cruise control, what IS cruise control and how does it work?! Anyone?Fankz
- when you get the car going the speed that you want it to stay on, you can turn on cruise control. Most cruise control systems are directly linked tot he throttle cable, and will use the throttle to increase or decrease speed as needed to maintain the set speed. many cars have the ability to increase or decrease the CC speed using buttons. if oyu go to increase the speed, look at your gas pedal and you'll see it move down to speed up.
- Q:Hi,I recently found a cruise control stalk, like the part that connects to the steering column for sale. I am wondering if I need something under the hood to make cruise control possible or if I can just plug in the stalk and make it work. Thanks!
- you only have the switch for it ,you still need the actuator and the cables that connect to it plus the wiring harness for it and the vacuum control unit your still missing a lot of pieces to have cruise control, plus the pedal release switch, its harder than most people think to add this to a car that never came with it,good luck.
- Q:What is the difference between a Kvvr cable and a VVR cable?
- . VVR cable for the polyacetylene insulation and external protective layer of soft copper cable, in front of K for the control cable. . the cable is usually a few or several groups of wires (at least two each group) twisted from the rope-like cable, each group of wires are insulated from each other, and often around a center twisted, the entire outer package Highly insulated cover. Cable with internal power, external insulation characteristics. . the cable has power cables, control cables, compensation cables, shielded cables, high temperature cables, computer cables, signal cables, coaxial cables, fire cables, marine cables, mining cables, aluminum cables and so on. They are composed of single or multi-strand wire and insulation layer, used to connect the circuit, electrical appliances and so on.
- Q:I am looking into buying a VGA Cable to go from my computer to my HDTV. I want one that will not mess up the signal and have a very nice picture. There are different display modes for the one I am looking at. There is the SXGA which displays at 1280x1024 and the UXGA which displays at 1600x1200. Is there a difference in which i buy? There is also a XGA which displays at 1024x768. Do I need to buy a certain one? thanks for your help!!!!!
- Well i believe any DVI cable can provide you with a nice resolution depends on your HDTV , and concerning resolution you can control it over your PC
