Q:The computer is a Hp compaq.So I took the connector out of the computer but left it in the power socket.When I tried to reinsert the connector I hit the metal back panel of the computer and it made contact so I was wondering what is the part(s) that is likely to be broken?I want to know it so I can replace the damaged parts.Thanks in advance of your help.: The power cable should have enough rubber/plasitc to stop contact with power supply directly unless you seen a spark I would try the a different cable. Is the power supply turned on? If it did spark and is turned on try swapping the power supply. Actually I missread, it touched the case itself so now you have to start swapping all parts starting with the power supply, then motherboard if that doesnt work. I hope you have some spare parks around. you could also take out the power supply and you will see a long 24-pin connector you can short the 1 green wire with a black one to see if the power supply turns on. The connector is a cable comming from the PSU not on the motherboard. And lastly each time you try to start the computer after swapping somthing only have the essentials to have it start. No CD drive extra HDD etc.

Q:Recently I bought a EVGA Geforce 8800 GTS. When it came in, the card fits in my case but has 2 cables to plug in. I only have 1 cable to plug them in connected to my power supply. Should i only plug in 1, or is it nessesary? Is there an extra one I just dont know about? Please answer!: After looking at several 8800GTS's online, I don't see any that require two PCIe six pin plugs. This means I think your talking about the 4 pin molex adapter to be used by those that lack a 6 pin PCIe plug. Because this is a powerful card and it can't get enough electrical power to run from the socket, it needs more juice, and it gets it from the 6 pin PCIe power plug found on newer PSUs. For people that don't have that, many places include an adapter that you can use. If you don't have enough open/free molex plugs however, I question whether or not your PSU has enough power to feed the 8800GTS. What PSU do you have? How many Amps are on the 12V rail? Open your case up and see if you can read the sticker that should be on all power supplies. If you don't have enough open plugs, I would NOT use a splitter. Splitters can be used to hook up several low power devices (like fans) not high power devices like video cards.

Q:Ok, my pc and monitor have the same socket for a power cable, and i mixed the two cables up, but one has a 5 amp fuse and one has a 10 amp fuse... What one goes where??: Depend on the monitor and the pc. Is the pc a laptop? if so it gets the 5 amp. is the the pc a full tower gamer ? then it gets the 10 anp .Same with the monitor is to a old monitor or a new flat screen with powerstar ? See what I mean. It best to call your monitor manufacture or pc to get the right answer. it should not make a big difference but with the cost of a new PC do not take chances.

Q:I got two hard drives. The cable connecting the hard drive has 2 connectors, does it matter which connector goes to the master drive and which goes to the slave drive? same question regarding the power supply. 2 connectors on the power cable, the order matters?: it doesn't matter which power cable you use for your hard drive. however, the hdd cable is different story. I am assuming you have EIDE cable. If you just have one hard drive connecting, then it doesn't matter which connector you use. If you have 2 hard drive connecting with one cable, either you have to change the jumper setting so one HDD will be master other one will be slave. Another way is to change the jumper setting on both HDD to cable select; in this case, the hard drive connected at the end connector will be master and the hard drive connected to middle connector will be slave.

Q:I have recently decided to scrap my capacitor and need and extra two feet of power cable in order for it to reach the amp....is it possible to splice and join two power cables together or is it a better idea to rewire with a longer cord?: The only way to properly splice the cable is to solder the cable to another piece of cable the same size. The best insulator is brush on tape , just make sure whatever you choose to use, it is sufficiently wrapped. There should minimal power loss if care is taken to make the connection well. However, the best way would be to run a new cable. But considering the trouble this may pose, a quality spice may be the best choice.

I wand to add a 3.51TB internal drive: you have such a small case, i doublt that there will be room inside the case for another internal drive. if there is room, the PSU should have an extra Sata power connector and you will need to get a Sata cable if you buy an OEM drive, if it's a 'retail' version of the drive then you should get a Molex to Sata power cable and a Sata data cable. you probably wont have space inside the case for another drive, go with a USB 2.0 external desktop drive.
