- Q: I have been doing research online and have found replacement power cables from Kimber, Nordost, PS Audio, Cardas, Monster and Audioquest. While Kimber did win an award in Audiophile magazine, the write up for PS Audio's SC statement cable appears to be very good as well. Nordost makes a great product too, but have read some complaints that it actually cheats the bass. So I am basically looking to see if anyone owns any of the replacement cables from these companies or what they could recommend as a good replacement power cord.
- For many years there has been a debate within the audiophile community whether power cables influenced the sound of components. Someone finally performed a double-blind study. The only reasonable solution for such a debate. A power cord made no discernable difference in sound. Choose your power cord replacement on appearance (It’s nothing more than decoration.) I have some purty Audioquest interconnects and speaker cables.
- Q: i'm using an older mac at uni to do illustration, i pulled the computer round to put a tablet in it and the computer shut down, there are about 20 computers in the lab....the power cable at the back that is connected to the monitor is loose, i tried to put it back in but it's crackling....can i get electrocuted from putting it back in? i can't shut down all the computers so there's still electricity running through...thanks

- Q: Last step to install my amp is the Power Cable. Their is a fuse device i must attach to the cord so im guessing i have to cut the gauge install it on both sides and run it to the battery. Does it matter were this fuse device connects? because i want it right next to my amp.thnx
- Actually, you're on the right track all by yourself. Your in-line fuse SHOULD be right next to your amp. Specs say not more than 12 inches from the amp, but I personally wouldn't gop more than six inches away. It looks much cleaner, and is the most common way systems are designed. Just make sure your connections are rock solid. Sounds like you're doing a great job.
- Q: I have a Scientific Atlanta Explorer 8000 DVR Digital Cable box and yesterday when I arrived home, it was not showing the time or any evidence of power. The TV and DVD player work just fine, but not the box. I unplugged it, tried a different plug but no power. I hear the box working, but it never shows any sign of powering on. This box is maybe a month old.Any thoughts?

- Short answer: gravity Medium answer: the cable is longer than the distance between the poles and gravity pulls it into that familiar shape. Long answer: you can actually find the shape the cable takes by using the calculus of variations. I'll update my post a bit later (I'm a little busy at the moment).
