- Q:If you put clay over wire and bake it would the wire melt and ruin the sculpture?Details on wire:I'm not sure what kind of wire it is but it says Bright Floral Wire..Wire is silverDetails on Clay:Again, im not sure what clay...its from polyform products and it says Premo Sculpey so im guessing Polymer? :#92;Clay is Black.Bakes for 275F (130C)30 minutes per/par/por1/4 in (6mm)
- No the wire won't melt - besides fuse wire or solder, the lowest common melting point wire is aluminum and it melts at over 1200F Floral wire is usually steel and melts at more like 3000F, but even if it were copper, that melts at about 1900F The real problem with using wire in polymer sculptures is that when the clay shrinks in baking it may pull apart along the wire or that you may make parts of your sculpture thin (like legs or arms) and part thick (like body or head) and thick clay tends to crack - so these parts need to be hollow, which is why people talk about crumpling heavy duty aluminum foil as a core, so the clay is more uniform in thickness all over. Don't forget to have an oven thermometer for accurate temperature checking - don't trust the knob setting on the oven.
- Q:I NEED TO CHECK IF A WIRE IS GOOD ON A FITNESS MACHINE. HOW DO I KNOW IF ITS GOOD? WHAT SHOULD THE OHMS BE?
- any wire, unless it is very long or very thin, will measure zero ohms on an ordinary ohmmeter. But check for continuity does not completely check a cable. Most cables have several conductors in them, so you need to check each one end to end, and check resistance between the wires. Between them, it should measure open or infinite ohms. But the cable could still be bad. Tell us the details please. .
- Q:I am trying to take 4 lights in the basement that currently all have to be turned on independently and wire them all in series to a single switch. I just took the wires and put them to the switch and then to the first light. it came on but when i held the silver metal shielding piece that houses the wires, I got a tingle. I think that would mean I need to connect the third wire. The grounding one. The light did come on which I think means I had the pos and neg connected right. Where do I connect the ground wire and what caused the tingle? by ground wire I mean the third wire that is nothing but copper. I think I just put it to the case or the light or whatever looks like a good spot to get grounded. any extra knowledge or advice is a big help! In the mean time I will be searching the web for how to's.
- Why do you have a clean change with 4 terminals? It seems such as you have a three/way change w/floor rather of a single pole change? verify THIS 4 TERMINAL change until now YOU proceed. A single pole change would desire to have 3 terminals. Line, load and floor. you're saying the change container has only 2 wires. it quite is all you would be able to desire to connect a single pole change working a easy from one region in older installations. interior the change container - the white one is warm to the change and is a runner, (criminal). The black is the load cord lower back to the ceiling easy. Sounds as though the independent is already interior the ceiling junction container ,(2 white wires taped jointly and linked to the lamp). the two black wires are warm and taped jointly to the white to the change. would desire to be waiting to connect the white and black, interior the change container,to the recent change. because there is not any floor on the change - the floor terminal heavily isn't used. Disconnect the breaker or fuse for this circuit until now attempting to connect this change!
- Q:All household socket have two wires.Plese do not mention grounding, the ground would act as de-facto second wire
- It would depend on the type of power. Three phase AC which is commonly used to transmit power cannot be transmitted in one wire. Single phase ungrounded AC could be transmitted in one wire. DC can also be transmitted in one wire.
- Q:If you were to hot wire your car and didn't have the manual to consult the color code, what would be some ways to identify which wires are {power} and {starter}? If you were to cut all wire pairs and attempt different combinations, would that result in imminent failure? (knowing the different pairs correspond to different key positions)
- Ok, so far you people have all proved to be completely useless and immature idiots. You people who comment just to comment have to realize that your opinion, nor your life, matters in this world and should express it by publicly burying yourself alive or jumping off a tall building or something simply for the amusement of others. You are dirt, you are worthless, you are nothing; no excuses.
- Q:Found some electrical wiring resonably priced on craigslist but it says -----8 gauge (AWG), 3 wire, direct burry electrical cableDOES THAT MEAN ITS 3/0 WIRE? Because I need 3/0 wire direct burriedI am looking to buy some extra 3/0 wire and found some on craigslist for a reasonable price..
- 8gauge 3 wire means exactly what it says. you will be getting a number 8 cable with 3 wires in it...the best thing to do is dig the trench put the wires in conduit and use 3/0 wire..Will last years longer and you probaly will not have to dig your trench back up in a few years.
- Q:On the wires leading to existing system I can see the main power lead. However all the other wires are different in color leading to existing valves. From the wire bundle two black wires (the only black wires) lead out to nothing and were left with no electrical end caps protecting. Manual says nothing on wiring valves. Any ideas on black wires? Or how can I splice in to existing system wires at valve point having one valve working at a time when system is operating? Am I going to have to get a new controler or run new wires existing controler?
- As long as you have an extra colored wire and your controller will support the extra valve, it will work. I am wondering why you have 2 black ones though, unless one of them has a stripe. Normally multi-strand wire has only one of each color. To see a wiring diagram, follow the link below
- Q:want to get ready to solderis the fuzzy stuff the wire? or the shiny (positive green and negative red color) the wire? sorry i know its a noob questionlet me knowthanks
- wire is metal and metal is orange or silver . The fussy stuff is string
- Q:I am replacing old 3 button (vertically aligned) light switch. There is 1 thick wire wrapped in white, 1 thick wire wrapped in black and 4 thin wires wrapped in black. I attached the white wire to the common wire screw and put the remaining wires around the screws. I am also replacing a toggle switch that will control the vanity lights above the sink. There are 4 clumps of wire coming through the box. The copper grounds are all twisted together, and there are multiple strands of white covered wire twisted together and then the 5 black cover wires and 1 white covered wires. After hooking it all up, it doesn't do anything. No lights, fan or heat lamp. What did I do wrong?
