- Q: I am looking for some answers when it comes to soldering wires. Lets say I am using 6 to10 (22 AWG 2 conductor wires) and I want to solder those to 1 wire for power source and 1 wire for ground. Now lets say soldering 10 wires to 1 wire for power and 10 wires to 1 wire for ground. All the wires are the same AWG guage. Now that the wires are twisted together and soldered to the hot and ground source, by doing this will I actually make a resistor or change the amperage or reduce the voltage by soldering so much wires together to a 1 wire source? The power source I am using is 12 Volts. If anyone knows of anywhere I can find this information online, etc, I would appreciate it.
- The amount of wires won't create a resistance or change the current. The devices and the power consumption of each will affect current. How do you think a car fuse panel works? Many fuses (connections) all come from the same positive wire on the car battery. The battery provides well enough current for every device to be turned on (for a period of time) and no device will suffer from lack of current. ____________________________ Resistors are what limit the current to LEDs. The only way to exceed the wattage of a resistor is to short out the LED.
- Q: i need to know how to rewire it to make it fire the only wire that is still there is the one that runs to the distributor cap all the other wires are gone is it sopose to wire to the key please help
- to the + terminal of the coil, run a wire that sends 12v. when the ignition switch is turned on.
- Q: I have some salvaged wire from a computer power supply and would like to know it's break-down voltage rating. Most hookup wire is rated at 600 volts but unfortunately, all computer stuff is now made in China. The repair job of a vintage piece of equipment requires wire that can withstand 300 VAC.
- Computer power supply cables do not deliver anything like 300 volts, so I would say no, don't risk it.
- Q: How can I investigate the resistance of wire and how it changes with the length of the wireCheers
- get a multimeter. get long lengths of different gauge (diameter) copper lead wire. for each diameter, measure the resistance. cut 1ft off, measure the resistance, cut 1ft off, measure the resistance, cut 1ft off, etc etc. plot the resistance vs length for each gauge separately. show that the resistance is linear in the wire length in each case. now use the different diameter data to measure the resisitivity of copper. resisitivity rho = R*A/L R = resistance L = length A = cross-sectional area cheers
- Q: ok i bought a cd player off of OKorder a couple weeks ago and i decided to save the money and do it myself, but me and my friends didnt get a connector for it so we decided to go old school and wire every wire, and now the problem is we dont know what wire goes with what. so i need a accurate wiring diagram of a 2002 v6 hyundai sonata, (car wires first) i hook the black with black for ground, orange with yellow for battery( which there is two oranges so i tried both and together) and yellow with red for accessory just to see if the cd player will turn on and it doesnt, so i need some help pretty bad, and i have checked the fuses ( audio one) any answer will be greatly appreciated,

- Q: I bought a bathroom fan timer and tried to install it. It has four wires and the wall switch circuit has only 3 wires. What do I do?
- sounds like you have one wire short in the box. you need to power the timer. which means you have to use your ground wire for the neutral wire. and this means you have no proper ground. so wire it like this old black to black old white to red old green to new white and to box new green to box. to do it properly you need a 4 wire cable coming into the box and going to the power source or to where there is a proper neutral wire. the thing is the timer wants full power going to it complete with a ground circuit. the switch before it was just that a switch which interrupted the power on one side of the fan so all it needed was 2 wires and the ground to be properly wired
- Q: can aluminum wiring catch on fire
- The wire does not burn, rather it causes arcs in the connections that then start a fire in the insulation around the wiring. If at all in doubt about the wiring have a qualified professional electrician do an inspection of the panel and the wiring.
- Q: I know there must be a difference, and reason why some wires have a solid strand behind the rubber, or some have several strands. can someone explain to me how it works and the differences in wire. m trying to get my head into electricity. resources would be good too.
- you ask a fairly broad question first, the larger the wire, the more current it can handle as far as stranded wire, it flexes more during use and vibration and heating, etc. the solid wire is the smallest size and most accurate diameter if that is important such as high frequency
- Q: How do I find the remote wire on the back of my stock Ford Focus strereo? I have a line output converter to connect the rca cables to the deck, but I cannot tell wich wire is the remote wire. How can I track this wire down to connect it to the amp?
- it should be a blue skinny wire striped with white
- Q: installing ceiling fan, when remove light fixture, it has 4 wires system, wires used: white red and green with one light switch, what is black for, it has a wire nut, but has nothing connect to it
- Look in the box where the switch is installed. Is there a black wire that also has a wire nut on it? If so, someone used a little forethought when they ran the wires to this switch. You will connect one of the wires (red or black, doesn't matter which) to the black wire of the fan, and the other goes to the blue wire of the light kit on the fan. Then connect the white to white, and the ground wire goes to the mounting bracket or bare copper wire of the fan. At the switch box, you will need to add another switch for the fan. If there is only room for 1 switch, you can buy a combination fan/light switch that fits in the space of 1 switch, but has controls for both the fan and the light. Hope this helps.
