Thats purely incorrect !
- Q: I want to know what the definition is of a hot wire gauge.
- A hot wire gage is a tool that tells you which wire(s) are hot meaning that they have electricity running through them. If you go to the tool store you would ask for a voltage detector. These are about the size of a pen. They light up and beep when the detect voltage. I highly recommend having one when doing electrical. There is nothing worse than grabbing a wire that you thought was powered off only to get lit up. Hope this helps.
- Q: awg is an american stander to manufacturing electrical wires
- To repair it your self, which is what your question seems to be asking....Leave the breaker off.. Unscrew the burnt wire from the fixture. Pull the black wire out a bit for some slack to work with,. Cut the scorched wires end off to fresh wire, and strip the plastic coating off of the wire up to about an inch. If it isn't a solid piece of wire twist the ends so they form a smooth wire. Use some pliers, (needle nosed, work best ) to create a u in the stripped wire, and then hook it around the screw you removed the wire from, Making sure no exposed wire touches the other wire that is screwed on the plug too, tighten it down then push the wires back into the wall and remount the plug and cover. Then I would check the other outlet that is on that same breaker just for safety's sake.
- Q: I just read an article about a man who was electrocuted by a live overhead wire while trimming a tree. Horrible. My question is I see squirrels running on all the overhead wires. How do they not get electrocuted?
- Electrocution happens when electricity finds a way to ground. Squirrels are not grounded so they don't get shocked. Ever watch the Discovery channel? They've shown how the power company works on high voltage lines without shutting the power off. A helicopter hovers next to the power line while a technician reaches out to the power line with a probe. Once contacted the helicopter and the technician are at the same potential voltage so nobody gets shocked. However, during approach they are NOT at the same potential. That's the reason for making contact with he wire with a probe first. So that the technician doesn't take a big hit when he first touches the live wire. So squirrels, birds, rats - anything that can land on the wires doesn't get electrocuted. But if an animal touches the wire AND ground (or another wire), it's all over in a blinding flash. Hope this helps. 'av'a g'day mate. '')
- Q: Would any body please let me know about Bank Wire and Bank Transfer system?
- A bank wire is a telegram wiring cash money to a third party, usually directly into the bank account of the receiver. It is expensive, costing about $30 for a domestic wire and $45-50 for an international wire. The bank transfer system is a pre-approved electronic bank transfer from your account to the receivers account and is almost instanteneous and cheap (pennies, not dollars).
- Q: I'm doing a science project on resistance and I need several different types of wire. I know to use copper wire, but what else could I ask for at a hardware store?
- Gold, Silver, and Aluminum are common wiring types that are used in various applications, although you could also use tin or lead - you'll get lots of resistance. Not sure what you'll find at the hardware store, though - they generally stick to wiring that actually works. :) Also, if you can cheaply find superconducting wire and liquid nitrogen, you can show off zero-resistance wiring. :)
- Q: I bought a bathroom vent fan today, the one that was in there hasnt worked since we bought the house. Anyways, i have a black wire, and a white wire coming from the light switch on the wall ran up to the ceiling where the fan is, and a black, white, and GREEN comin off the new fan i bought. Do i need to get in the attic and run a ground wire from outlet to fan? Or are the black and white good enough? The old fan didnt have a ground wire, just the other 2. Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks
- Green wire should be screwed into the inside of the receptacle box or pigtailed to the bare copper wire in the back of the box. If neither a bare wire or a green screw is present, call an electrician to run proper wiring to the box
- Q: I have two low voltage wires that run from one side of a building to another. The insulation on both wires is the same color. I eventually just walked an additional wire around the building and checked continuity. Is there an easier way to differentiate between the two wires?
- i think i get what your saying if for example your running 3 black wires (the insulation is black)and each one is for example a line or hot wire i would take different colored tape and color code each one on each end it eliminates having to ring them out RING =continuity
- Q: I am wiring a sony xplod amp up in my car and need to know what the skinny blue wire goes to. Any help would be appreciated.
- Run a fused (1 amp, 14 AWG) wire from a fuse in the fuse panel that only has power when the car is ON to one side of a switch. From the other side of the switch run the same sized wire to the REM (remote) connection on the amp. This allows for full control and you never have to worry about forgetting to turn off the amp. The switch is so you can turn off the amp at will so as not to give grandma a heart attack in the car. You can find fuse taps and in-line fuse holders at any autoparts store.
- Q: I have a 300 watt pioneer home stereo and four 15speakers that are250 watts each would it be ok to use this wire i just bought here is the link was wanting to know if it was ok to use if it seas car stereo wire thanks
- Its not very good wire the CCA stands for copper clad aluminum in other words its not real copper wire its aluminum... You need good copper wire for best results... also Oxygen Free Cooper wire or (OFC) is even better look for copper wire they have it on OKorder...OFC is better because the copper content is higher but most copper wire is still good and has good copper content if its advertized as copper wire...
