- Well, you have 2 options. I used this first method when I installed subs in my cousins car because there was no remote turn on wire on his car. In this case you can run wire directly from the battery to a toggle switch that you can mount on your dash, then run the wire from the toggle to your amp. So the amp only turns on when you slip the switch.(Usually, even if there is a remote turn on I run that to a toggle and then to the amp, so then you can turn your amp on and off whenever you want not just when ever the radio is off or on. Your second option is to use a circuit tester to find a wire that has power when the radio is off has no power but it has power when the radio is on, then you can splice your remote turn on into that.

- Q: i am going to be installing a flood light outside, i am running the wire on the outside of the house. i have down some small electrical work light outlets and switches but not sure on running wire. i was looking at lowes at outdoor wire and there are different size gauges. just wondering what size or gauge is best to use for an outdoor flood light?
- Previous answer was partially correct. There are building codes depending on your local government. Some outside wires have to be in conduit, some have to enter and exit the ground in conduit, others do not require it. However, the wire size is associated with the circuit breaker that you are going to attach it to and the length or distance away from the circuit board it is going to be. Don't try to save money and buy indoor wire however, stick to the heavier outdoor coated wire. It is best to buy a higher Gage and not use it all then to buy a Gage that is too small.
- Q: Ok I've been changing the old outlets in the house and all of them were fine until I got to this 1 outlet. The outlet had 1 ground wire, 2 white and 2 black (if that helps). The wires were a little chewed up looking so when I went to wrap the upper white wire to its screw it broke and now the wire won't reach the screw and certain lights in the house won't turn on because of it. - using a wire nut just get the same size wire cut it about 4 inches long and make whats called a pig tail use the wire nut to connect the new wire to the short one its most likley a 14/2 wire if its on a 15 amp breaker if its on a 20/amp you should use a 12/2 wire
- Q: I currently have a ceiling fan wired to a dimmer wall switch that controls the fan and the light, not good I know. I would like to set up the dimmer switch where it controls the light only and then i can use the fan pull switch for the fan. but i am not sure how to wire this with my current wires. In the wall box where the dimmer switch is I have two sets of wires coming from two different locations. one set has a black, red, white, and green. the other location has black, white and copper. currently the green and copper are connected and capped, the two whites are connected together and capped, two blacks are and connected to the black wire coming from the dimmer and the red is connected to the other black wire from the dimmer. how would I wire the dimmer switch to only control the light and not the fan? I want to make sure i do this safely.any assistance is greatly appreciated.
