- Q: was told by a Toyota Service that this would only be 1 hour more labor and cost me about 140 dollars more..and that they always recommend it being done same time as timing belt and water pump replacement....but is really a good idea or not? - dude its yur thermostat u need to replace it or it can even be yur coolant cap it can be on crooked or not on all the way look into both but ive had cars overheat on me for both reasons and ive had caars blow up on me due to both reasons so look into both

- CLR soak. Remove the calcium and lime from the tap water use. I would use a 50/50 solution in the inlet and give it 30 min then plug it back in with the in and out in a bucket with the 50/50 mix until it runs like new.

- Most cooling systems pump the coolant out of the engine through the top radiator hose. In the radiator. Out the radiator through the bottom hose. A by-pass system can be found on most cars and it includes the water pump and smaller diameter hose.l these smaller hoses rout the collant to certain components such as the heater core (which provides passenger compartment comfort). There many other variables depending of the car. Engine oil coolers. Intake manifold warm-up passages, I may be leaving some info out here but that is pretty much your basic cooling system routing. - Q: Water pump located on the ground floor of our 10 story building is leaking and therefore it is constantly running and spilling water into the parking lot. Therefore, a plumber shut the water pump off and opened a bypass valve.After we shut off water pump all units still have good water pressure so why do we need to replace water pump?When water pump is on the incoming city water gauge reads 60psi and the gauge measuring the water shooting up into the building reads 80psi. Now both gauges read zero.How can water coming from the city at 60psi travel all the way to the 10th floor without a boost? I do not understand what is happening.
- the pump may have been required before the city up graded their water system. and now it may not be required. but if it were me ? i would replace the pump . Then continue to use the bypass. the reason is , because one day for various reasons the public water pressure could suddenly drop. And then you will and emergency. or at least buy the pump and store it .. So if this ever happens you just need to pay to have it installed. This way you are prepared for what will prob happen someday. but 10 stories ! i am with you . i would think you need a pump to do that.

- well.... if the fuel was pumping before it ran out of gas, it probably pumps still... the pump wont stop pumping just because it ran out of gas.. but... if you do run out of gas, you WILL get AIR in the lines, and it COULD keep the car from starting because of a bubble somewhere in the lines that won't allow fuel to pass. hard to explain. Diesels have this problem a lot more than EFI cars do, but it can still be an issue. try going out there and turning the key on and off about a dozen times, but not trying to START the car.. every time you turn the key, you should hear a mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm sound from the back of the car. that's your FUEL PUMP priming. if you DONT hear the humming sound (which does stop after about 2 seconds) then your fuel pump isn't working. let it prime a few times. when there is too much pressure, a separate line pushes fuel back to the tank.. it SHOULDNT be that big of a problem, but i'm not sure about that exact car.. i have a feeling it's a northstar v8 or something, and those are notorious for sucking donkey nuts.

- Q: Yesterday my car was making squeaky noises in the front and then the fan came on FULL FORCE it sounded lik an airplane. It then started to over heat. I looked to see if there was any antifreeze/coolant in it and it was BONE DRY. I found out the water pump is bad. My boyfriend wants to change it himself but he doesn't know if where it is located is so complex he should take it to a mechanic. He has changed water pumps before. If you know anything about this.. your advice is very much appreciated!!
- Water pumps arent too bad to change. Just follow the hoses to the pump, should be connected to the sepentine belt. Your diagnosis seems to be correct,
