Description of Single Stage End Suction Chemical Pump
ASP5020 series standard chemical pump is a centrifugal pump, which includes horizontal, single stage, single suction, volute casing, foot-mounted, cantilever type.
The pump is designed based on the SO2858 "End-suction centrifugal pumps Designation,nominal duty point and dimensions", and GB5656 "Technical specifications for centrifugal pumps(Class II)".
The pump is reliable, steady and efficient in hydraulic performance, and comply with International standards with simple structure and easy maintenance.
Sealing system includes packing seal, single mechanical seal, double mechanical seal and tandem mechanical seal according to different working conditions.

Structural Characteristics of Single Stage End Suction Chemical Pump
Bearing support,shaft,sealing box and impeller form an installation module,which can be changed among different pumps in order to save the holding cost of spare parts.In the meantime,after dismantling separable coupling,there is no need to dismantle pipeline and motor before disassembling the installation module formed by Bearing support,shaft,sealing box and impeller.
(1) Pump casing
Single volute and double volute structure shall be designed on the pump casing,with interchangeable impeller ring on the pump casing to protect pump casing from abrasion.And pump casing shall also be designed with the structure of heating jacket.
(2) Flange position
Inlet flange is horizontally suctioned,outlet flange is radially upwards.
(3) Hydraulic and axial force balance
Performance curve is stable with low cavitation and high efficiency,and this characteristic shall be kept like this even when load is not enough.
(4) Bearing and lubrication
Single-row ball-bearing and thin oil lubrication shall be applied on the bearing;bearing sealing is labyrinth seal;oil level is automatically controlled by a constant oil cup.
(5) Shaft seal
Mechanical seal box or packing seal box shall be applied on the shaft seal,and seal box can be cooled or heat retaining,shaft seal can be cooled or washed.
(6) Flange pressure rating and rotation direction
Flange design pressure rating is PN16 and PN25,and ANSI125,150 is also applicable.
The pump rotates clockwise from the direction of motor end.

- Q: to see if it is pumping coolant
- If your radiator has a cap you can take it off when engine is cold. Start the car and notice the gently flow of coolant and then after the engine warms and the thermostat opens, about 10 minutes at idle, the upper hose should start feeling warm and the coolant should flow faster past the radiator opening. If you don't see the rushing coolant the impeller of the water pump isn't working. Hope you don't have a leak but you can lose the bearing in the water pump without losing the seal, so there is no leak.

- Well, the most common failure on a water pump is that the seals go and then it begins to leak, and drips or pours down the side of the engine. As to the bottom of the radiator being cool, bear in mind that a large number of cars and trucks have a transmission cooler or oil cooler located at the bottom section of the radiator, and that would of course remain cooler than the cooling system as the oil or transmission fluid do not conduct heat as well, not do they tend to get quite so hot. I would guess you have not gotten the thermostat in backward, as if it were never to open, it would not allow the hot coolant from the engine into the radiator against the flow of the water pump. As to the head gasket, yes, steam from the exhaust is a fairly strong indicator that coolant is getting into the combustion chamber and being steamed off. Of course, that could also be a cracked block or cylinder head or a warped head that caused the gasket to fail, but the head gasket would be the first thing to examine.

- water pump is usually replaced with the timing belt since it is easiest to get to when you are doing the timing belt. your water pump may go out on you tomorrow or last for another 300k miles, who knows. but with it not having been changed, you are still riding on a pump with 138k on it. lots of miles on that impeller. if it lasts, just have it changed next timing belt...which I would do @ around 160k miles ~ 80k is about right for a timing belt to last. civic water pumps are cheap...as are the timing belts.

- Pretty fast. Engines operate at 600-6000 rpm and the pump pulley is a little smaller than the drive pulley, so it is spinning even faster. That said, 600 rpm is plenty fast enough. You can attain that easily by applying pulley to rear tire tread, raising tire off ground and pedaling. To apply bike chain to pulley would give a disappointing water flow.

- book time to change the water pump is an hour, which is a kinda right if ou know what your doing. if not a lot longer...you'll need a few specialty tools, for the tension-er, but if you don't have a lot of time and some mechanical knowledge, don't try it
- Q: I've bleed the lines, and gotten rid of all the air bubbles. I've replaced the thermostat correctly, (triple checked) and I don't think it's the water pump because it isn't leaking what so ever. My temperature gauge is not moving what so ever, and the coolant reservoir over flows heavily, and I can hear a thumping sound in the radiator.
- Its gonna' take some doin' === Drain the radiator..remove the thermostat..fill the radiator with water and radiator flush chemical..run the motor..until hot..either with the Radiator Cap--ON or OFF.. If you left the radiator cap installed..the engine will need to cool down--to remove it.. Flushing your motor with the radiator cap removed offers time savings.. === Yet..the radiator might over-flow during the flushing. cedure.. === Stand away from the car..and be ready to turn off the motor.. ..safely drain all the flushed material..refill with fresh water and drain out(no need to start thre motor).. === Now..look at your thermostat..does it have a tiny little hole in the flange area.. The flange is the flat portion that supports the opening and allows a place to seal the gasket--there should be a tiny bleeder hole..that's not in the gasket portion.. It allows some coolant to flow--freely.. I once bought a thermostat that was missing the bleeder hole.. I used a tiny drill to replace that item..tiny hole like THIN Spagetti/..so fluid can escape thru thre system.. === With that in mind--get the system back together..check for leaks..//[end]
