Q:im looking at installing an amp and was wondering if its fine to go through the firewall were there is already a group of wires with a rubber seal, i was thinking of poking a hole through the rubber seal and running the power cable through there would this be a suitable option. Thanks
Of course you can. As many amps that I have installed I have only had to drill one hole through the fire wall. As long as there is a grommet you are good to go. You should be able to open the rubber up with a screw driver. Just be careful not to damage any wires.
Q:What kind of cable does the power cable 3 (1 * 240) +2 (1 * 120) Is it a separate cable?

Q:i replaced my ps2 power ribbon cable with a slightly diffrent ribbon cable but it had all the connections just like the original one. i plugged in my ps and i heard that slight clicking sound of the electricity entering the ps2's cuircut such as it always has when it was working fine. but when i plug the ps2 in the lights on the power buttons wont come on and they havent come on no matter whitch way i turn the cable. i would really like to get back to KH2 bugt this is getting annoying. what is up with my ps2 that even though everything is connected i cant seem to get the power lights to come on. help!
reassemble it again .pull out out the power cord and reattach it .it happened to me and thats what i did
Q:I just plugged a 300V power cable into power supply that accepts 115-240V then turned on the power supply. The power supply was not connected to the motherboard. I don't have another cable so I can't really check if its still working nor do I want to try again with the 300V cord if it can potentially cause damage.

Q:my friend and i were installing a subwoofer in his car and the rem cable touched the amp and caused a short. the cd player does not turn on any more and we could not find any problem anywhere the only fuse blown was the fuse on the power wire for the amp and that should not have any effect on the cars cd player what could be wrong? (the fuse on the back of the cd player was not blown this leads me to believe there is nothing wrong with the cd player and it is not fried)
did you check the car's fusebox? does the radio have a reset button somewhere ? does the head unit have a wire harness that plugs into the back of the unit itself? if it does maybe the harness melted and there is still a short in the wire or the wire melted somewhere between the head unit and your amp and is still shorted. you could simply unhook the remote wire from immediately behind the stereo and see if that helps edit *** also, i'm not sure if this is still true but most D.C. powered electronics like your cd player have a diode inside on the power wire. A diode will only let electricity run one way. What it does is basically if you where to say hook up you're stereo's power wire backward it would only burn up the diode (in theory). This may be what happened and would be pretty cheap to fix.
Q:i am going to establish a new power cable manufacturing business. i want to ask you what should i name to my business or what brand name should i adopt that is appopriate.
follow the suggestions. Good Luck
Q:Doesn't have to be super powerful, just lifting about 100 pounds, frequently. I've already looked at the normal places, and they are all DC powered (car battery). I suppose it could also be manual.
For manual, try Harbor Freight; I have one in the garage. that should be good for 100 pounds. And verrrry portable.
Q:I have a Belkin Tune Cast II FM transmitter. The fuse in the DC car power cable is .5 A but it blows every time I plug it in. What is the correct fuse to use for this charger?
Those transmitters are very low amp draw... as you noted 0.5 amps, which at 13 volts is about 7 watts of power... and even that sounds high for a portable electronic FM transmitter. With that little power, you probably have a faulty unit for a fuse to blow. I assume you are using an aux 12v power source in your car and the (cigarette lighter) adapter that came with the transmitter. Now most adapters are not fused, but yours might be, and you could open it up and just see what the number on the fuse is - probably 2.5 amps max. Radioshack carries replacements for those small fuses. Considering that the car's fuse rating on most aux power sources is about 15 amps, your transmitter could not possibly draw that much unless there were a problem. The problem may lie in the aux power socket or in the adapter itself. I'd start by trying something else with an adapter - such as a cell phone charger. If plugging that into the same socket blows the fuse (in your car's fuse panel) then its probably the socket. If however it works fine, then the problem lies the adapter on your transmitter; which = return that and get a new one. I have seen many adapters with bad design that shorted easily and blow the car's fuse. Pray that its the adapter and not the socket.
Q:Well I guess the more general question is:Are quot;twin power cablescompatible with 12v accessories and motorcycle batteries to make a safe running circuit?
This is absolutely possible. I would be careful about the weight of cable you use, ensure that it can carry the amp rating of the accessory you want to power from the 12v accessory socket. For example if you're powering a heated vest these can be rated at up to 25 amps. Maplin have a good range of cables at various A ratings. I would also advise you crimp and heatshrink rings onto the cables that you can clamp onto the battery terminals. The Anchor ones are excellent, but Maplin will stock a range of options. You may want to think about wiring an inline fuse, and/or a switch to prevent overheating, and to protect your battery. Hope this helps.
