Q: Hi well I'm wondering if I can by those 8 pin 6 pin power cords what goes in to your graphics card to plug in to a power socket on the wall. Because I only have 500 wats and at the moment I have the 4850 and already I'm thinking about getting the GTx 295 or something can't remember. But it needs more then 500 wats lmao.I don't wont to upgrade my PSU so will I be able to plug the GTx in to the the wall like as a sprite power cable what goes in to the AC power cable in the wall?BTW I live in Australia so could could you tell me where you are like USA London ect just in case Australia doesn't have it. =)And where can I buy this transfer as well.
You cannot plug it into the wall. Its too sophisticated. A single GTX 295 requires a 700-watt PSU with a 50 Amp 12v rail. Insane power consumption going on here. Upgradable to quad-SLI (woo). If you can afford a GTX why can't you afford the PSU? A PSU regulates your power and protects your equipment from voltage spikes etc. Get the PSU. Whats wrong with your 4850? can your board support a x-fire setup (two 4850s linked?) That'd be cheaper in the long run.
Q: I'm thinking of the power cables that connect houses to the national grid in the UK. Not only do they appear to be the green colour of copper in full sunlight, but this colour isn't evenly spread. In places there is still black. What causes this, as it's presumably not exposed copper or the colour would always be apparent?
This could simply be moss / lichen or fungus growing. the north side of the cable will have more moss on it than the south side. As the sun is over the equator and England is in the Northern Hemisphere so the sun lights the south side of the cable, and the moss grows on the darker side. This is a classic way of telling directions in a forest or paddock. Garret
Q: Recently, I purchased two power tools from Craftsman - a 19.2v 1/2drill/driver and a 4.56A angle grinder that look exactly like ones sold by Porter Cable. I don't have links for the drills, but compare pictures of the two grinders below. Other than part of the plastic housing being a different color, you can clearly see that it's the exact same tool.

Q: the power cable for my macbook is frayed and today started to spark. its currently unplugged, because of the sparking. i am trying to figure out if the power cable is covered under warrantee. the macbook is still covered under warrantee until August 2011Thanks in advance
They do NOT fray like that without careless handling, which is NOT covered on warranty.
Q: I need 300 ft. of service entrance cable and I've been told I need 4 guage 3 wire 200 amp aluminum is what I need but I'm wondering if this 1 guage overhead line would work just as well if buried in 2electrical pvc conduit for 300 ft.
When you say 4 gauge it is unclear whether you mean #4 (rated for 80 amps) or 4/0 AWG which is rated for 200 amps. Also, I've not seen a 1 gauge overhead line. Now then, that being said, if the cable you have is a triplex in that it is three conductors braided together, then I assure you, it would be a nightmare to wrestle that 300 feet in a pipe. Secondly, your voltage loss could be great enough that you would want to probably up the wire size to 250 MCM cable which would require a larger pipe. As an answer, the plan that you currently have is going to cause you more problems than it's worth. If I can be of further help, feel free to contact me personally.
Q: Im running a dedicated power cable from battery to trunk for 2 amps and i just want to know if drilling a hole through the firewall is the only way to do it? What happens in 15 years when the hole gets rusted and coroded from the moisture even with a gromet?
2 amps is a pretty small current so it doesn't need a big cable - there are other cables passing through for the back lights, find out where they run and see if you can just ease another one through the gap,it might work with a little lubrication. Just don't try to poke anything sharp through the hole. There are special fish wires that electricians use to get cables through holes conduits, you could try one of those or at least see how they are shaped so you can use something similar - you'll only need a short fishwire you probably have to buy a 5m length if you want the real thing. Good luck.
Q: Trying to play Kingdom Hearts on PS2 Slim but my power cable is wrecked beyond repair. The game room at my apt complex has cables for PS3 (not sure if slim or not). Will the PS3 power cable work with my PS2 slim?
no, but I can be used on the fat original ps2
Q: is there any way to fix this? i don't want to upgrade my power thingy though.
Not sure what you are referring to here. But you should be able to find a power cable long enough at Wal-mart or maybe a flea market or even a yard sale.I've seen them at Salvation Army and Providence Ministries that sell all kinds of stuff.
Q: Two weeks ago, my 1 yr 19 lcd monitor began to flicker? Why? The power cord and usb cable are secure?
I've had a similar thing happen with my 17 GEM monitor. Eventually, I relocated the monitor and redid all the wiring and the flickering ultimately stopped. I'd wager it's a wire issue.
Q: I have a Netgear router and just now when I tried to plug the power cable back into the back of it, it would fit. I look more closely and it seems that the metal end of the power cable may be slightly bent. But I'm still confused because it's bent at the end of the metal, and even though the very tip of it isn't bent, that part still won't even slide into place a little. Could anyone help me in resolving this issue?
If it is the correct adapter for the router and it fitted before, gently force it and it will comfortably fit eventually. There is probably a reason it doesn't fit now (it has been pulled out with some force) so I would suggest getting a new power adapter for it if the above does not work
