- Yes it can be really effective cause there is a load of different exercises you can do with the bench press. There are exercises to target every muscle group that you can do with the bench press so just do those with light weights and high many reps. But diet is very important if you wanna loose weight. So dont just do the normal chest exercise look up some other exercises to do also so you target all muscles correctly

- When bench pressing with free weights, secondary muscles are involved in balancing the weight, where as with a machine, these secondary muscles are not involved. using a machine is fine, but in order to build greater density and strength, free weights can be a little bit better. Remember when benching with free weights, ALWAYS have a spotter!

Can you imagine having that happening at Normandy Beach? I say if the media wants to record battle, give them a gun and let THEM fight, too!

- generally speaking force some new adaption through accessory work - Joe's advice is decent but I will add the concept of adjusting the load by adjusting frequency. Consider a 5x5 linear progression on a barbell bench press for example - you can use this as an accessory still - but it will allow you to shift a heavier weight rather than go for the endurance/hypetrophy training of multiple sets of 8-10. It is generally acknowledged that 3 reps is for power (such as a power clean/olympic lifts) 5 is for strength training (like starting strength/ 5/3/1 / Stronglifts/texas method) and 8-12 is body builder/hypertrophy range. I like to ensure when I plateu that I consider all of these rep ranges to provide a new stimulus to the area. Some fundamental things to also consider: Diet - particularly increasing calories, to a lesser extent, ensure you have enough carbs to burn in the session - this is generally an issue for low-carbers though, not the general population (who already eat too many carbs). I hate these people who say drink 7 litres of water every 2 minutes or you will die! (ok, exaggerating :) but you know the type...) but I would say drink a small cup with every meal/decent snack you have (assuming you have about 6) Rest - if you noticed your sleep going from a nice 8 hours to a meagre 5 + 1/2 then you need to consider going to bed earlier.

- Yes you can build muscle with just a bench press but I would not recommend only doing the bench press. If you are planning on doing bench press make sure you moderate on days so you can relax your muscles, and new tissue can be built. Try to keep bench press to 2 - 3 days a week max. I highly recommend doing push-ups and sit-ups. They build your body, and even if you can't do many just start out slow. Then add more push-ups and sit-ups to your routine. If your nervous about going to the gym you could also just do the push-ups and sit-ups at your house.
- Q: I need some tips on how to do a straddle press to handstand........i can't even lift my legs off the ground to get them in the splits in the air....so are there any good work outs to help me get stronger in the areas of muscles that I will use for this trick?!!?
