Q: I hurt my upper back last night while doing dumbbell shoulder presses. Today, the area is sore and is incapable of supporting much (if any) weight. Any ideas what I did to it?
You may have used too much weight on the presses. Sometimes the body needs a rest. Are you doing these daily? You should not work the same muscle group every day. Alternate between days doing different workouts. I like to recommend the upper body work out every other day, and the lower body workouts the opposite to give the muscles a rest. Sometime when we are a little under the weather our body is telling us not to over do take it easy a day or so. Give it a couple days of rest before working out again. Sounds like a pulled muscle.
Q: I need a few ideas on why the Freedom of the Press is more important to democracy than Freedom of Religion? pleez hurry cauze the paper is due tuesday!!!
Both are good. But Freedom of the Press or Free speech allows our voices to be heard. We can express our view in newspapers and books. We can make speeches and have other people hear different ideas. With new ideas and points of view, society can grow and get stronger.
Q: If i do so, is it good to press the brake without pressing the clutch... pls suggest me a clear answer...
Yes, if you press brake gently and release immediately the car will slow down.
Q: Bench press:Grip wider then shouldersElbows out wideTouch between nipples and neck then liftClose grip bench press:Grip inside shoulder widthElbows as close to body as possibleTouch under nipples then liftPlease correct anything
Chris is dumb for giving that answer dumbbell press requires each arm to hold the weight balancing each side of the body and also providing a better range of motion. With the bench press your stronger side will help your weaker side and also your shoulders are involved more which is bad since they both work your chest that's why you can't lift as much with the dumbbell press as you can with the bench
Q: I am required to collect and press a variety of plants for a plant identification course that starts in the fall. The instructions say to change the inter-leafing paper after 24 hours, but it doesn't say how long they ultimately need to stay in the press. Can you help? Thanks in advance!
There's no definite answer to this, as it will depend on the temperature and humidity of the area in which you're drying the plants, and how many plants you're attempting to dry at one time. Anything that will increase the temperature and decrease the humidity will decrease the drying time. That said, I have to say the average drying time for me is 4-7 days. Something you can do to decrease the drying time yourself is to put the press near an air vent so that the air blows through the ventilators (through the holes in the corrugated carboard). If you have a room with a dehumidifier, that works too, espcially if the press is put where the warm, dry air blows through the ventilators. Another thing to try is to put a table lamp with a higher wattage incandescent light bulb on the floor, and put the press above it between two chairs so the heat from the light hits the press. Again, you want to place the press so the warm air rising flows through the ventilators. If nothing else, you can use a fan directed at the press. As a side tip, one the plants have been drying a day or two, tighten the straps on the press. The shrinkage of plants as they dry can allow the leaves to wrinkle in the press, and doesn't give you the smooth, flat results that look best.
Q: When making French press coffee: What grind of coffee? What kind? Light or dark roast?
The most IMPORTANT thing to know regarding coffee made in a French press: you need LARGE particles of a uniform size for your coffee to turn out right. A high-quality grinder is your best bet--you can get the beans ground at the shop, or buy whole beans and grind them yourself. Smaller coffee particles lead to more dust, foam in the coffee and sludge in the bottom of your cup. Try to only grind as much as you can use in 2-3 days. I grind my coffee every day, use it and then grind more as needed. I have a French press, though do not use it every single day. I enjoy the flavor of the coffee, and sometimes will make a pot if it is to be enjoyed with the meal, such as brunch, but during the busy week, a coffee-maker with a timer is what I use most often. (With beans ground as I set the pot up the night before.) I often make coffee throughout the day if I am home, and use the French press then.
Q: When doing the bench press, where should I bring the bar?Is it in the middle of the chest like on the nipples 'line'?How do I build my 'upper' chest. I think it's called the pectoralis minor, just below the collar bone.
attempt doing dumbell presses as a replace of bar and flex your chest once you get to the splendid. you would be impressive at how briskly you may get reliable that way. hit upon a weight it quite is kinda heavy to you. Do 12 reps, then pass up 5 kilos and do 10 reps, then 5 mor kilos and do 8 reps. finally pass back to the 1st weight and do 12 back. each and every 2 week attempt to initiate at a miles better weight.
Q: i was thinking about when i first started working out in my shead with weights i remember i could only bench press about 65lbs and i was 13 now im almost 16 and i can benchpress 120 10x but at one time i could bench press 140 but i quit working out for a while and i practicly restarted from benching like 90, sooo tell me., how old were you when u started working out how much could u bench? and how much can u bench now? and how old are you?
Start: 16 years old, 115lbs x 10 Now: 17 years old, 185lbs x 6 It's better to press more weight for fewer reps if your primary goal is strength gain, not muscle gain. I work out sporadically - I started last summer but didn't work out at all from September to January (other than do push-ups and other calisthenics for fitness in my gym classes). I started lifting again in February with a new gym class, but I pressed the same old 135lbs for a while before thinking about moving up. That was probably the breakthrough. I managed 150lbs for 8 reps, and though I was sore for the next 4 days, I changed my mentality about bench pressing. Now I'm always looking to move up and get stronger.
Q: The press routinely posts stories regarding people accused of a crime but not convicted. This frequently destroys lives (e.g., the Duke Lacrosse team case, the Olympics bomb scare in Atlanta that resulted in strong accusations and eventual acquittal of an innocent man whose life was ruined, etc.) of innocent victims. The tabloids frequently destroy reputations based on conjecture, frequently delving into people's private lives even when asked to step away.Do these press actions call for a review of the concept of responsible journalism or is this acceptable press behavior?
Once you start restricting the freedom of the press, you are on the road to totalitarianism. The First Amendment states that Congress shall make no law abridging the freedom of the press. You would have to have a constitutional amendment in order to counter that strong prohibition and that will not happen. Lawsuits are the only effective means of countering false, baseless stories in the press. There will always be stories that hurt someone unfairly because criminal accusations, whether the persons are guilty or not, are news.
Q: So I am going to Disney World either next summer or 2010 and i want to get my aunt a purse. Where can i find a purse that is inexpensive and fun? Then i thought about doing the coin press. is it worth .51 or more to do just one or what do you suggest as souviners?
you can find purses at nearly every gift shop in disney world. depending on how big it is, the characters that are on it, and the material its made of it will run you anywhere from $10-$50ish. and there are coin press machines all over the place. each machine is unique and has different pics to choose from. its worth the 51 cents if you have some shiny pennies and like the picture options. but i wouldn't go that cheap with ssouvenirs you could get magnets, jewelry charms, pens with little characters on top, key chains, little stuffed animals with magnetic hands and feet and much more for about $5 a piece. so you still wouldn't be spending big bucks but those types of ssouvenirsdon't make you look like a cheapskate.
