Q: I have a 94 Mazda b2300 it was working great last week then all the sudden it started making a knocking sound and started to overheat! Its still drivable but it overheats if i go far! A friend told me it can be the Water Pump so i put a new one, I was told it can be the Thermostat so i had a new one put in. It worked for awhile but began overheating again. My truck is my livelihood so its important i get it fixed! I cant afford a mechanic but just asking to see if anyone knows what it could possibly be? It catches good and the engine sounds strong but it keeps overheating!: Tell your friend thanks bot no thanks for any more automotive advise. If you had checked your upper radiator hose for HEAT with the engine running 20 minutes you didn't need a thermostat or a water-pump. Lets do things in the order of cost and effectiveness: #1. Ask a trusted private mechanic to do an inexpensive *cooling system pressure test to see if you have any external or internal coolant leaks. #2. Replace the electrical temperature sensor in the water-jacket. #3. Cooling systems need to be drained flushed and *cleaned every five years. When was yours done last? #4. You're five years overdue for a new radiator even with the best of cooling system care. When was the last time that your cooling system has been drained. flushed and cleaned with a one part powered acid cleaner? By now, your five years overdue for a new radiator

Q: antifreeze leaking from the water pump. antifreeze wont stay in car, car overheating. 96 chevy cavalier. 2.4: When the bearings go out it damages the seal, which allows coolant to leak from the weep hole. Change the pump ASAP. You don't want the fan going thru the radiator.

Q: I was driving when my temp gauge shot up all the way so i pulled off the next exit and my car shut off and started smoking i noticed the water pump belt was in shreds and what seemed to be anti freeze fluid and water was everywhere. I'm curious what could have broke maybe a gasket or the waterpump it's self besides just the belt?: The bearings within the pump, or the belt tensioner pulley bearings, or even the alternator could have gone bad. Any one of the components that draw from the serpentine belt may be the origin.Once the engine cools it may be determined which component caused the failure. If the water pump turns freely then it's not the source and can be ruled out. Same with the tensioner pulley.

Q: 1988 fleet wood prowler 22HJust bought it, first time camper owner. I need a battery and a water pump. I only want to buy one, but don't want an overpriced pump. The pump is only required to deliver water from the fresh water tank of your camper to the faucets and if equipped toilet of your camper when you are not connected to City water, ya I know I have probably been connected to an actual City water supply 4 days in over 10 years of trailer camping... but any campground water supply is referred to as a city supply in the trailer literature. The only accessory I recommend to have is a combination filter which will stop both sediment ( very common in campground water lines ) and secondary charcoal filter which will reduce both taste and chemical intrusions on your system / palate. Would I buy a basic system demand pump? Yes, but if the cost of the pump stands between your camping season and your camping plans for the season, cancel the pump and camp!

Q: its a honda accord 1991 Lx my car started overheating only when i stop when i go it doesnt overheat what should i check like the water pump: Pull it out of the car and look at it. But since your water pump is most likely driven by the timing belt, that's a hell of a job. My guess is you probably need your timing belt replaced anyways though.

Q: I need to replace a water pump on a '95 3100 Pontiac Grand Am and am looking for a guide how to do it. Also, do I need to flush out the coolant or can I just put a pan underneath the water pump and let the coolant pour out when I take the water pump off? Thanks.: no you need to drain the anti-freeze out of the radiator. after your done you can flush it or you don,t have to. take the belt off, take the bolts out, clean the surface on the engine, put a new gasket on the new pump, put some sealer on the gasket ( both sides) place the pump on the engine, put the bolts back in and tighten them evenly, put the anti-freeze back in, put the belt back on, start it up and check for leaks.

Q: my water pump is making this quot;chuckingsound, and i was wondering if bad water pump creates these sound? and also, do i need to replace the serpentine belt at the same time?: Make sure it's the water pump, but yes, they can make noise. It's never a bad idea to replace the belt when doing that kind of work. It's already off, so there is no labor, but if it's newer, it's not necessary.

Q: Iv got a 2002 Chrysler Sebring with a 2.7 in it and recently it started leaking coolant, its been determined that i need a new water pump. Iv gotten quotes from various places and various prices but there all telling me i need to replace different things. One guy said i need a timing kit, the other guy said i dont need a timing kit but need valave covers and a couple other things, another said i dont need anything but the pump itself. Im lost and the leaks getting worse and i need to make a decision but dont know what to do. Some insight from you helpful people would be great!: Usually water pumps just go, and you can't drive the car until it is replaced. They leak horribly before too long. Just keep putting water in it, but it will leak out as fast as you put it in there. A mechanic removes the water pump and puts a new one on. Nothing else has to be replaced. Go to the mechanic who said only the pump needs to be replaced. He sounds correct - although I am sure a 2002 car may need a couple of other things done to it.

Q: Water is leaking from the front of my car, on the right where the radiator is located. only thing is that its not leaking a lot, just a little.... but people keep telling me that my timing belt is going to go out and that i will be stranded!. i will like to know the cost of both the water pump and timing belts for my 2001 PT Cruiser please.: um ur timing belt isn't leaking its the water outlet pipe.......i just replaced it in my wife 02 about a month or 2 ago........it was 50 bucks with new gasket from dealer timing belt and water pump were about 100 total form parts store.......i went ahead and replaced them because ur supposed to every 90k miles...even tho they had nothing to do with the leak....its a crappy design the painted steel pipe rusts underneath the paint and collapses at the o-ring styled gasket causing it to leak....
