- Q: Hey everyone, Im looking for a Sofa Bed/Futon to put in my dorm. Im looking for one that's between $100-$200. All the ones I have seen have very horrible reviews. Could anyone point me in the right direction?
- Idk if craigslist in your area has futons/sofa-beds, in the free section, or furniture..there are also areas to request what you are seeking, as well as a 'trade/exchange' section, too. Diatomaceous (sic) earth, according to a person on cl aka craigslist, removes any bedbugs, (also fleas and all soft-bodied pests), in case that's a worry. Get this from garden stores, farm supplies and hardware stores, possibly.The person on cl was offerign the 2nd 1/2 of the diat. earth, as it cured their onetime bedbug problem, they'd been bedbug-free for months, and wanted to share the unused remaining 1/2 of the bag. Alcohol sprayed via a spray mister bottle also might work (I have seen it work, but idk if it works at all life cycle stages. I bought a mattress brand new!! that was loaded, horrors, with bedbugs (the mattress came plastic-wrapped too)..I spritzed the wooden floor-boards, mattress and surroundings..I spritzed me!, hair and body...did pillows and all bedding, and vacuumed/dusted, until there were zero creepy itches..that was last year, and I have not had any recurrences, since. Hooray for alcohol!). So, anyways, there may be a way to collect a free futon :) I would ask re: bedbugs, again, if that's in your area (too -- In the city here, there have been troubles that way, especially in hotel mattresses. So, that prompts me to guide you, on the matter, in case you wanted to take advantage of a 'freebee' bed, free of fear!). Also, there are some shops that sell foam fold away beds. You didn't say, are you looking for a twin, dbl, queen, or king size. I used to live with 2 futons. It's true. They can be incredibly uncomfy -- I'd 'test' them in the store, or when collecting them from cl. Most of them feel too thin, like, the wooden slats are right there in your back. Are there any blogs to do with futons?

- there's a microfiber sofa at pier one stores this season that the salespeople swear is the most comfortable sofa bed ever. i haven't bought it, but have visited a few stores and they all say it. it retails for $699 also consider a mattress topper ( maybe 4 inch memory foam). it's usually thin enough to fold right in with the bed when you need to convert back to sofa.

It's really comfortable and for a good price (there's a tiny thing I can easily fix, that's why it was cheaper) and the smell isn't a bad smell at any account. I just have a very sensitive nose and all but the most subtle smells give me a headache. - I would sprinkle baking soda on you couch for a few hours and then vacuum it up in the morning or maybe next day. Baking soda should take smell out without depositing any new scents. But, you may have to sprinkle it a few times or leave it sit over night. Baking soda has always worked for me and scent problems.

- I had a sofa and love seat set of this style for 16 years. The only time I experienced the shifting of the seat cushions was when someone had slept on it. Depending on the fabric BENEATH the micro-fiber cushions, the cushions may or may not be more likely to slip.

- If your sofa hasn't been professionally cleaned lately, call someone to do it for you. They have affordable cleaning packages that include other furniture as well. After having it cleaned, be careful how people sit on it, including yourself. Wear shorts when sitting on it, if you're the one who left the odor on the sofa. If not, make sure others who sit on your sofa, do so with respect. Febreeze for Fabric, is a great sofa deodorizer too. Mist the sofa, don't drown it. :(
- Q: My 4 month old pekepoo stuck his face in my large mug of hot Starbucks Sumatra coffee with skim milk.Then, he sneezed and spit the coffee all over the leather sofa and threw up on the carpet. - Wipe down the sofa with warm water on a soft rag. Consider washing it with saddle soap. I have only used it on shoes, handbags and boots, so no idea how long this will take. You can find it with shoe police at your local store. Or there may be some type of leather treatment cream that will restore the look of your sofa. As for the dog, consider getting a blanket that stretches all the way across the seat of the sofa, fold it in half lengthwise, and insert long pieces of aluminum foil between the layers. Put this on the sofa. Dogs and cats hate it and will avoid the sofa. It will protect the sofa when you cannot. Be sure to tuck it in firmly around the edges when you are not at home. (It will look fine if you choose a blanket that goes with the decor; try it first with something you have on hand.)

- that really sucks the only thing i can say is get a Professional dry cleaner to come and clean it it will cost 100 or even over but that's really the only thing you can do at this point, sorry

- You may have faded the sofa. However, you could try cleaning the entire sofa and if you have an attachment piece and it is still wet remove as much water from that area as possible before hand. If the couch is faded, you may be better off just getting a slip cover. Good luck!
