- Q: I am currently visiting Japan and am interested in a couple jobs on base and possibly staying here for a while if I can find a decent good paying job. My question: what is the most efficient means of getting a SOFA stamp to be able to apply for the jobs on base here...?Does anyone have experience with my situation?I am visiting my Japanese wife on my passport and have base access as I am now inactive military. One place (MWR) on base told me it would take 4-6 weeks after I turn in the paperwork to be sponsored by them to get a job.What other possibilities are there or jobs people know of that they need positions filled?Thank you all so much for your time and thoughts.
- TokyoLiv_in09 okorder / This link provides options for Federal Jobs in Japan but I'm pretty sure you would have to go back to the states because you would probably need a SOFA stamp. Some other options can include working as a gate guard or at the chow hall? I believe some of those jobs are contracted to Japanese workers you probably can apply since you have a spouse visa. Again, you will have to research what I have said because I'm just throwing some ideas out there.

- Q: I bought a used microfiber sofa and didn't notice until we got it home that it smells strongly of cologne. I called the pro's and had it cleaned but after everything was dry the scent is a little better but still there (I'm sensitive to smells). I have read about using vodka or vinegar but I don't want to ruin the upholstery. Any suggestions?

- It depends on your style. What other things are in the room- do you have any pictures/art you like that you can pick colors from? Tan generally looks really nice with black (maybe leather), reds, other vibrant but earthy colors. I wouldn't put it with blues, oranges or yellows. whites or greens would be okay, depending on the rest of your room. Also, I recently bought 2 sofa sets- one tan and one green, both microfiber. we had them sprayed with the protectant, but they are still horrible to clean. water leaves more marks than the original stain. I had to call the warranty people to clean them. Just thought you should know if you are considering microfiber, in my case, it hasn't been easy to clean. Good luck!

- A 100% polyester microfiber. Additional hint - cats don't like citrus smells. When you get your new sofa, place lemons on plates on each cushion under the sofa to deter the cat. Pretty soon the cat will associate the sofa with a citrus smell will resist getting the urge to scratch. There are also citrus scented cat deterrant sprays at the pet store. Before you sell the old sofa though, consider buying cut yardage of the fabric have the areas that are torn reupholstered. Call your furniture store see if cut yardage is available. But, if the sofa was inexpensive in the first place, you might as well buy new.
- Q: Couple of months ago I asked about my dogs peeing on sofa. Got several answers back; all said to crate train them, train them to go outside etc. The problem is that they are trained to go outside and they won't pee in their 'crate'. However, I have one sofa that they tend to pee on even if they just came in from outside. They are nearly 18 months old, sisters, and are Chihuahuas. I'm not even sure which one does it! Any suggestions?
- Don't let them sleep on the sofa - or spray it with a special spray.. Make sure that you're getting rid of the smell of pee on the sofa as dogs like to pee where they've already peed. You really need to tell them that it's a no, pick them up, show them both the pee, and say NO sternly then put the outside.
