- Q:Leather treatment? sofa restoration?I’ve just bought a 2nd hand huge leather Chesterfield sofa with a genuine distressed leather look and some tiny cat scratches. I was told to get some leather treatment on it, but have absolutely no idea were to start.Any top tips anyone?
- You need to use a good quality water based foam leather cleaner. DO NOT use anything containing oils, waxes or silicones. (Most 'conditioners' contain waxes or oils) and furniture polish contains silicones BABY WIPES are the worst thing you can use as they will destroy the finish on your leather. They are very strong alkiline cleaners to neutralise urine (acid) on babys skin so they are not the right thing to use on leather. Saddle soap is too harsh to use on todays furniture. A lot of leather wipes contain chemicals which will also destroy the finish or leave residues on the leather which will damage it.

- Q:My room is tiny. ANd I need a double bed. So I got one about 2 years ago and there is no space what so Im looking to buy a sofa bed (which i will be using as an actual bed rather than a guest bed) to replace my double bed. So I can have my mates over ect and were not all squashed in a tiny corner. I already have a memory foam mattress on my bed but its quite think so should be able to fold up with a sofa bed. Any suggestions on a comfy sofa bed or futon?? Preferable one that would be the size of a double when pulled out. Thanks :)
- Sofa beds are not all that comfortable for daily use and you will not be able to add or squish a memory foam topper mattress into the sofa bed folding mechanism. Consider this. A trundle bed. This is a bed that appears to be a single mattress (39 wide by 76 long) by day. You can have it pushed up against the wall and use wedge bolsters so it can be used as a seating area while company is over. Under the bed is a pull out mechanism that allows the bed to double in size or just use the bed as it and sleep on a single mattress. You will never be happy with a sofa bed over the course of time as they are not built for daily use. Think about it, any mattress that folds in thirds without a box spring cannot be very good for constant nightly use.

- I find that with each time I move and re-decorate, I get more daring. For your first house, play it safe. Stick with the earthy colors and keep the decor simple. Embellish with pictures and accessories that you like. Decide if you like cool tones or warm tones and stick with one or the other throughout. I like decorating with paint - you can change it if you don't like it without costing a fortune. In fact, it is good to have one color for the main living area and work off of that color throughout. Once that is done, you can get comfortable with the theme and you'll know more where you want to go from there - every house has a different feel to it. From there, you can go bolder with a foyer or add an accent wall color, or you can add a faux finish or mural somewhere. Sometimes after painting a room neutral, you can get a painting or print and decorate around it. In fact, that is how I do bathrooms. I pick out a shower curtain that I really love and decorate the entire room around it. It already provides my color pallete, so there isn't much creativity that has to go into the colors. I watch HGTV on cable and when I see something I like, I go to their website and print it out if it's there.

- Don't think so. SOFA applies to foreigners in a country. It sets limits on how many can be there at any one time. Your girl friend is a citizen of Japan and has nothing to do with the Status of Forces Agreement.
