Q: I have just brought a sofa on ebay and the measurements are 3ft by 3ft by 5 ft 8 in.I live in a terraced house and I don't know the measurements to the door but does anyone think that I would be able to fit it through the door ?I really like the sofa and really don't want to tell the person I can't have it.Many thanks !: There are several sizes of doors, so I couldn't tell you without seeing the size. Most are 30 but they can be as big as 36. Also, it will depend on the configuration of your house. Ours has a tiny entryway and we had to end up punching a hole in the wall to get the couch in. Try tipping it up as far as you can if you need to clear interior walls and carrying it in at an angle to minimize the width.

Q: its like a black vinyle thing they sell at ebay like a couch support that prevents you sinking when you sit on the sofa?does it really work? for how long? is it worth buying: Like anything that is black vinyle thing, it is probably made of material like masonite covered with a thin vinyl/plastic that is heat sealed together. While it appears to work for a while, it too will eventually wear out, allowing your sofa to sag. These products are usually made for sleeper sofas due to the type of bed frame installed in sleeper sofas. If you want a better product to support your sofa cushions, Measure your sofa withoug cushions, from front to back, just under the area where the back rest and seat deck join. then measure from one arm rest to the other . Use the deminsions and have a piece of 3/8 or 1/2 plywood cut to the sizes you've taken. Cover it with some inexpensive bed sheet fabric and place it on the seat deck area, pushed back far enough to let it rest behind the front sofa rail. Put your cushions back where they belong, and sit on it. You'll find it to be more firm, and will last longer than your black vinyle thing

So can somone help me find out.: When you estimate yardage for reupholstery on a sofa you have to take into consideration the pattern of the fabric and the style of the sofa and the size of the sofa. In order to get exact yardage requirement, you'll need to have whoever is going to recover your sofa give you an estimate. Any professional upholsterer can do that. A hint...if you are using a fabric that is just a solid color something, have the upholsterer railroad the fabric (meaning the fabric runs on the sofa the way it comes off the bolt). You will use less fabric and have less seams. It only works with solids, though. If you try to do it with a pattern, it looks like the pattern is turned on it's side. A good rule of thumb for most medium sized (84 long) is to allow about 20-25 yards.

Q: I just brought a sofa and it doesn't fit through my apartment door. I don't have the measurements of the sofa but does any one have any idea how I can get this sofa into my apartment... I don't want to return it: You can try standing it on end, with the back towards the door opening. Push the back in, then rotate it around the door jamb. This only works if the length of the couch is less then the height of the door opening. Good luck.

Q: some idiot mistook my last question as being inappropriate so I will REPHRASE: Please provide websites where I can purchase a -ready to assemble- sofa, couch, chair, etc. Upholstered or just the framing. I have bought a sofa, for under $400 and I like it alot, but am wondering if there are more sites to choose from SINCE I LOVE HAVING CHOICES. (IN THAT PRICE RANGE AND THAT 'S WHY I MENTIONED THE PRICE AND THE WEBSITE IN MY FIRST POST, since I like having CHOICES.)and finally-to REPHRASE-If you have been happy with YOUR experience with any ready to assemble living room/family room type furniture and are interested in possibly expanding the offerings in that market, please feel free to email me. Q: Just wondering. I love microfiber but does it make sense in a sofa?: I have found it to be very durable, but stains easily.

Q: How do you clean your CLOTH sofa & loveseat?: you need to read the instructions on the sofa...sometimes you can't use water. but if you don't have it scotch guarded, and you've tested that the color isn't going to run, you could get a carpet cleaner with upholstery attachment and clean it that way. conversely you can hire like sears or something that does carpet cleaning and they will clean couches as well... usually though, a really thorough vacuuming is sufficient.

Q: There are very few obstacles inside or outside the doorway. The legs may come off of the sofa, but I'm not sure? Will professionals be able to get this sofa through one of my doors and into my house?: Call the retailer from whom you plan to purchase the sofa and ask for the Delivery Department... they'll have the true dimensions of the sofa as it's packaged and can tell you if your doorway is sufficiently large enough to get the sofa in your home.
