- Q: I have an off-white microfiber sofa, and the cushions are getting dirty. They unzip so I can machine wash them, but I don't know the settings, or if I need to use some kind of special gentle soap. Also, can I use the spray stain remover beforehand? - Try to talk to him about it, but don't make it an issue as he'll think your whining. Guys don't see the sentimental value in things like girls do, so he may not understand. He probably sees the stuff left behind as just wasteful crap he needs to get rid of someday, not as leftovers of a relationship. It may be easier if you box the crap up and say it's taking up necessary space and what should you do with it. Then you won't have to worry about him getting around to doing it. If he wants to keep it, then maybe you need to go find another couch to sleep on - and don't leave any of your stuff behind! Good luck.

- Honestly, if you;ve let him on the sofa for so long this may be a hard habit to break. Start by removing him from the sofa and using the command off. Eventually he'll start getting off on his own. That said, I have a friend who tired this, but the dog still sleeps on the sofa when she's not there or asleep.
