- Dawn dish-washing liquid is the best thing for cutting grease or oil stains. I would put it directly on the stain and scrub it in well. Let it soak in an then rinse and blot. My husband is a chef and his shirts are constantly getting grill grease on them. Dawn is the best thing that I have found to remove the grease. Dawn is what the environment uses for oil spills in the ocean. They also use it to clean up the feathers of water birds that get caught in the oil slicks.
- Q: I just moved into a house that has a very narrow staircase leading up to the second story ( which is actually a finished attic). I want to have my tv room up there. The width of the doorway and staircase is 24. I want the biggest comfiest couch possible. Please help!
- Futons are not all cheap and uncomfortable. You can buy a quality frame of wood with a high quality cotton mattress. If you add a tempur pad to that before zipping on the mattress covers, you should have a pretty awesome bed. Just don't go to WalMart--go to a high end furniture store.
- Q: I have recently come into possession of a really good couch. The ONLY problem being is that it has stains on it, and smells a little. Besides that, it's brand spankin' new and in nice condition (no rips or tears) / everything in tact. I've decided to make a project out of this couch, as I know that most of the time, suede can be a b17ch to clean, but honestly, my husband and I don't have the money for a new couch as all of our money is going towards getting a new car. - Not sure how bad the stains are. When I bought my suede sofa, the guy at the furniture store said the best thing to use was a cotton cloth and a bit of methylated spirits diluted with water. Seems to work. You could try it, the good news is that a bottle of metho will only sting you about $4.00

- You can get anti tabbacco shake, oust is a air freshner which eliminates the smells rather than covering them up, try bicarbonate of soda just shake some on the sofa or any where else it smells leave for 30 minutes and hoover the bicarbonate of soda off it, it should smell.... well clean.

- You have to teach him Off. Every time you find him on the sofa, make him get down and say off!- it doesn't have to be shouting, just firm consistent every time. In addition, watch him and say off before he even gets a chance to get on the sofa.

- My flat coated retriever LOVES to make himself at home on the sofa. So I went to Home Depot and purchased those plastic carpet runners with the spiky things on the bottom side. You can purchase basically the same thing in several dog supply catalogs for much, much more. When I leave for the day, I lay these across the sofa, 3 across, draped front to back (otherwise he just pulls it off). Works like a charm! Kris
