- Q: my sister is about to move into army married quarters and also expecting a baby so we are looking for a sofabed for her and her husband for christmas, however, all the reasonable priced sofabeds seems to have metal frames which aren't good with a baby in the house. does anyone know where i can look to find more suitable options?

- Q: We already have a fabric (slate blue color) recliner that is only about 6 yrs old, perfect condition that we have no intention (at this time) of replacing.With this new tax refund MAYBE coming this summer ($2100 WHOOOO HOOOO) I would like to replace our sofa/love seat. We have never had our own and this one is shot. I haven't told my husband of my desire yet but I figure if we spend 1/2 and save 1/2 on something we are putting into the house :) Anyway. Since our recliner is staying and it's fabric, we should probably not even look at leater as it wouldn't go. Correct? Or is mixing pieces ok? I'm not sure about leather w/ little ones either. Does the soft plushy type of leater scratch easily? Also..if we went w/ fabric, we should probably go w/ the slate blue color as close to the recliner as possible, yes? Or would going w/ a tan/darker tan/khaki color not look right? Our carpet is tan.
- You could get leather, as leather will go with anything. However, there are a lot of styles and qualities of leather sofas. If you have a lot of kids and pets, I would wait on the leather. Go to a furniture store and look at what they have. Most stores have a designers section where you can check out fabric samples. I would suggest getting a durable fabric with a high # rating that will last for years and... get one that is in a print with lots of different colors (easier to hide spills and stains).
- Q: My Fi and I are moving into our first house together. We need a new sofa and I've been looking online. Ikea has a sofa that has removable covers (which I liked for easy cleaning). It was priced at $450, which seems reasonable.Does anyone have an experience with Ikea furniture? Is this a good quality sofa? I'm not looking for something superior. - General quality-wise, IKEA sofas and chairs are a LOT better than what you'll find at Walmart or Target, but not usually as good as the sort of thing you find at Homemaker's or Ethan Allen. (That's assuming you're in the United States). Not knowing the specific model of sofa you're referring to, it's hard to say for certain, but the less fussy the design, the easier it is to clean and repair. Of course, any piece of furniture will wear out if you use it enough. Regardless, if you're looking for a contemporary look, it's really the best value out there - anything that's both contemporary and higher-quality will probably cost at least twice as much as what you'll find at IKEA.

- You might have some difficulties finding exactly the kind you want without paying a high price for it. Most sofas are designed for sitting rather than sleeping on. However, if you currently have a sofa bed type couch, then it probably is not very comfortable to sit on. Try checking out some Futons, since really good ones have removable pads that are comfortable for both sitting and laying on. However, don't expect to get one for a cheap price. Rather go for comfort not price. Also, you might look into getting a roll-a-bed, that can be stored when not in use. They are coming back in style and are pretty comfortable to sleep on. One the other hand, there is always the day bed that can be used in a den or spare room that looks great and sleeps good too.

- Q: Carpet is light brown,, walls white (can't paint) , need inexpensive window coverings. Sofa, loveseat, end tables could be contemporary or traditional. I lean toward trying to incorporate both. Will be buying new lamps and accessories. This room is used as a living room/family room.I definatly need ideas, if not a complete plan.
- If the kids really love the red furniture, put it in their play area or the garage. If the loveseat fits, put it in one of the boy's rooms. They can even alternate months on owning it if they are so attached to it! Then you can redecorate the family room as you like!
