- Q: I tried asking WikiAnswers but no answers. So I wanted to ask here.
- The person meant the look of the two cords.
- Q: i just bought a cobra radar detector and im a bit of a perfectionist. it bothers me that the power supply cable drags from the windshield across the head unit and into the cigarette lighter. i need ideas on how to hook up the detector because it needs to be plugged in to work but not have the cord out in the open. thanks
- Mount the detector on your sunvisor. Run the power cord fromt eh detector under the edge of the headliner and down the A-pillar next to the windshield (you should be able to remove the plastic over the A-pillar and run the cord behind it.) Cut the cigarette lighter plug off and wire it into the fuse panel to a switched 12v source (something that comes on when the car is cranked)(radio, etc). That will allow the radar detector to power on when the car is cranked and to power off when the car is stopped. I wired all of mine like this and never had any problems with any of them.
- Q: Okay after installing Deus Ex on a brand new PS3 slim I pressed the start button and when the screen went black the console hanged, I couldn't even press the PS button, at the suggestion of a friend I yanked the power cable. Now it works fine but I'm wary of putting Deus Ex back in, I doubt that its regioning since there's no such thing. Any ideas and troubleshooting solutions?BTW what are the consequences to yanking the power cable.
- I don't think its the game cause I mine hangs to and I don't even have Deus Ex. pulling the Power cord ain't really a good idea it can lead to some issues
- Q: I have a Benq scanner 5000 and have lost its power cable. Please tell me what adapter to buy! input = 220v
- here okorder /
- Q: Can I do the big 3 upgrade by only doing the 2 ground cables(battery to chassis and engine block to chassis) now and doing the power to the alternator at another time? Will this give me a little performance boost until I can get enough material?
- no, that would be a waste of your time. having a fatter ground won't mean anything if the power wire is the same. you would be better doing the power wires only. problem with that is, there will be built up current that can't dissipate fast enough before damage is done
- Q: im curious what a good rule of thumb would be for determining how strong a fuse to put in line to the amp. im getting a 2300 watt amp but dont know how many amps of fusing it uses. so i dont know its power draw. any help would be great
- current(A)=power(W) / voltage(V) go with Jeffs answer so you can blow them all-idiot do the math! 2300/12=191A! How hard is that!
- Q: I found a box of power cables that I could use to hook up my PC and I know some of them were for old CRT monitors. Is it safe to use any of them? I'm not sure which one actually came with the monitor.
- From what I can tell, all of the monitor power cables are exactly the same. I don't see any reason why they wouldn't work or why it would be unsafe. As long as it fits easily into the LCD and plugs into your power supply then it should be just fine. (P.S. I've used old power cables on newer models before when I lost a cable once)
- Q: So I have a ordinary pc with a 500gb seagate hardrive in...and I have another seagate hardrive I want to put in (also 500gb) but do I need the sata power cable since it is not the main hardrive or can I only insert the Data cable for the harddrive since I didn't get any cables with my hardrive do I need need both cables, the Data and power cables or can only use the data cable ?
- The drive needs both power and data. You'll need something like the cable in my source. Figure out where you're going to draw power from before you order a cable. The cable that I link to will connect into a 4-pin molex connector. It is a passthrough connector, which means that it has both a male and female end. If you have a 4-pin molex that is already in use, this splitter connector goes in the middle so that the molex still provides power to the original connector. I'm not sure if I'm explaining it well.
- Q: I have 8x220ah deep cycle car battery's at 12v and i wanted to run an 5kw 12v power inverter but i would need cable which is 400amp 12x4004800 so could i use two cable connected to the battery's and split the power into 2 cable or would this not work if so whythe inverter would be using 400amps from the battery and it would be supplying 20amps at 240voltsis my working out correct
- In this case, you should have put the batteries in series to get 48 or 96 volts, that makes the cabling easier. Too late now. Yes, at 5kW, that is 5000/12 420 amps I don't know what size wire you are using, and what the distance is, so I can't help further without that information. For example, if you are running 10 feet of cable (20 total) and you want to lose only 5% of the voltage, which is 0.6 volts, then the resistance of the wire needs to be less than 0.6/420 1.4 mΩ. That is, over 20 feet, 71 mΩ per 1000 feet, which is 000 AWG wire. Mush more than 10 feet, and you need to use MCM wire. .
- Q: Where can I buy a replacement power cable for my ps3? I can't find one anywhere.?
