Q: I recently purchased a new power cable for my HP laptop (v6000 series) due to the disappearance of my old one. When I first plugged in the laptop, I noticed that it did not charge. I thought this might just be due to the fact that the battery has been dead for an extensive amount of time, but after leaving the computer plugged in over night, nothing has changed. What can I do to make my laptop's battery charge?Do I need to have a more powerful power cable?Thank you all for your help.
by power cable im assuming you made sure to purchase the correct model, and that you mean the cable, along with the transformer connected to it? (ac plug transformer cord laptop) if everything's plugged in, your charge icon on your laptop should let you know with some sort of animated plugged in/charging icon. if the charger is known to be good, then unfortunately you may have a loose/bad dc receptacle in your laptop. the port where you plug in the cable sometimes comes loose from wear and tear and the connection fails. try gently jiggling it around to see if it comes on when its plugged in. if it is bad, you can take it to a computer tech shop and they can fix it. just a thought.
Q: I live in the UK and I am going on holiday to Taiwan/Japan where the voltage is 110/100v as opposed to 220 here (i think).I was wondering if I could use a power extension cable (with multiple sockets) so that i would only need one adaptor to connect the extension to the mains and then I could just simply plug my 3 pin plugs into the cable saving me money and sockets. As it would be a lower voltage, I assume that there shouldn't be any problems with power however, if there are any electricians or anyone who has done this before I would really appreciate some guidance just to ensure that this is safe. Thanks is advance.
Using your 220 extension cords and outlet strips on a lower voltage will not damage them or your devices, which of course will be receiving whatever voltage your cord is plugged into. You will need a transformer if any of your item(s) won't work at 100 volts. The same is not true for for running surge protected outlet strips intended for use at 120 volts in countries where the mains voltage is higher. Don
Q: im having probelms with the end piece that goes into the computer, and it needs to be replaced.

Q: How can we manage power (voltage ) loss in the long distance if elcetricity is fed along with the cable?
The repeaters use copper wire bundled together with the fiber optic to power the repeaters, the voltage drop is managed with an engineered choice of voltage and current. Each cable has a different combination to suite the particular distance. And each cable would be tailored for the individual application.
Q: I need 600W of power for my new computer, but all I have is 2 300W, 20-pin power supplies. What I'm wondering is if I can combine the 2 20-pin connectors and turn them into 1 24-pin connector?

Q: The hard drive is: Western Digital Caviar SE WD3200AAJS 320GB 7200 RPM, I'm getting from Newegg OEM. I know that OEM's don't come with a SATA cable which is fine but where can I find a compatible power cable? If it comes with one already please let me know. Thank you in advance.
An internal drive would be powered by your power supply. If you don't have any additional SATA power cords in your PC, I believe you can by a 4 prong to SATA converter. Otherwise you may have to look at getting a new power supply for your PC that has more SATA power adapters
Q: does anyone know a website that has like a chart with pictures of the different power supply connectors and where in the desktop computer they go all I know is the 24 pin goes to the motherboard and the 6 pin goes to my graphics card
Its on your motherboard factory web site. usually there is a 4 or 8 pin for the mobo PCI bridge, sata, pata, power connectors for drives. smaller for floppy, blue wire for PSU fan speed report. just find out what FORM you need, most are ATX.
Q: The power button doesn't appear to be wired correctly. I press it and nothing ever happens. The only way to shut it down is to forcefully remove the power cable. My PC also does not shut down when I select shut down in the start menu. It just restarts.

Q: hey people i would like to know that my big fat power cable thing is not going into the socket the main power socket thing of the back of my xbox 360 elite and was wondering is there a way to fix that
make sure the terminals arent bent....it should slide right in.
Q: I was just wondering what ATX power supplies (exact model) that can support the Antec P182 computer case. Like, the power supply goes on the bottem of the case, but the power supply cables need to be long enough for it to reach the top of the case?Basically, I am trying to ask what ATX power supplies that have long cables? Thanks! :)
Unless you have a good reason for putting it there and plenty of air flow the bottom of the case is not a good place to put a power supply. They generate a lot of heat and this will rise up into the case.
