Q:I am looking for the stand by large generator 15-20kw (to use all the power on one transfer switch). The problem is that stand by generator require large propane tanks (expensive to install). I would like to find a stand by generator that i could run off gasoline and use all of it available power. I think this would the most economical solution. In case of propane/natural gas the cost of propane tank installation is significant. The diesel stand by generators are significantly more expensive. So far I have found tri-fuel13kw portable generator that has several outlets. In this case not all the power can be utilized.

Diesel cranks but doesn't start. All that's left is the fuel system. Is there a pre-heat unit? Is it working? Pressure at the injectors?
Q:believe the mh didnt come with a seperate 12v power supply to run items after the mh engine is stopped! I want to run these items seperately from the mh engine 12v system if possible. The mh has its own stock inverter but i am unable to locate a pwer supply other than the 12v battery in the engine compartment which is used for the primary engine power supply. Does this sound right. For instance are their electrical systems that rely solely on the main or engine battery power supply(without a secondary seperate accesories battery or power supply) and are totally reliant on charging only from the engine charging system. I do have a 2500 watt external generator but i am limited on the hours of usage. Mainly i am interested in running the light ,tv and vcr without assistance of my external generator. How the hell do i set this all up??
what you basically need is a motor home generator for that one,i own an older one that did not come with a generator,and we addd one to it,plus we also added a 24 volt power system to power it with and an inverter,you can run the the lights for about 6-8 hours on the inverter system but when using the generator to keep the 24 volt batttreies charged you can literally run it all night long ,we put this one though a test to see how long it would run for and it never died out,first you have to increase the battery box size to hold two more batteries then you run all this through a switch that changes it from generator power to battery power,i got mine as a kit throug rv,s of america,they sell a complete kit for doing this,it took days to get this on and get it working right,but now i have a switch up front by the driver area that you throw that switches it to generator and then you use the invertor that came with the kit to run the tv vcr microwave,and just about all the lights are now on 12 volt dc,i got 3 batteries one for the main part of the rv and the other two power the invertor,its not hard to do they send complete insructions with the kit,its calle an update kit and works on all older model rv,s.it cost around 900 bucks though but it remidies the problesm of not having power,when i first looked at all the stuff it came with i freaked out,i thought there was no way i would get it to work,but we did,you dont get the generator with the kit though,that you have to buy seprately,you get the hook ups for it though,and you get a choice of getting gas or a diesel generator now,when i bought mine all i could get was a gas one,check their web site out on this ,go to the accessory part when you click on it it goes to power,you can sullpy your own generator though and it still works right,they just like to sell you a generator if they can,good luck with it.

Q:i have a plan to supply electric power supply to a colony of around 250 houses each have a load of approximately : 3 x1.5 ton air conditioners and all the other stuff of household use. voltage required is 400v 3 phase or 240 volt single phase. my question is if some one can please calculate the requirement of load for the above requirement and what size of generator is required for this load. thanks
With that large a system, you should get a quote from professionals. You need better numbers on power usage, both average and peak. And the pros can help with that. See if you can get a sample of 10 electric power bills and use that as an average to calculate the average power for all 250. Peak is difficult. They each have 4.5 ton worth AC? must be a hot climate. You can use 1.2 kW per ton, so that is 5.4 kW per house or 1.4 MW total just for the ACs Is there electric stoves, hot water, etc? that could double the above number. So we are up to perhaps 3 MW already. At that level, you probably need a higher voltage system, perhaps a 6 kV distribution system. That costs money, plus all the transformers, one per 2-4 house, plus all the underground digging. Assuming you want this underground, not on poles. Again, contact a company that does this, such as Siemens, Bosch, GE, they would be happy to give you a good quote. edit: when you look at the ratio of peak power to average power, you will see a large number, as high as 10. that means you could require a (eg) 3 MW generator although the average power is only 0.3 MW. That means the efficiency is low and the costa are high. That is why large power distribution systems are much better, as the peaks are not nearly as high, and also power companies have special units that are usually offline and come online to handle the peaks.

a 7kva generator isnt even that quiet. i know they say quiet but theres only so much you can do. why do you need a generator anyways? and yeah it probably would disturb the people in your apartment.

Generally to start any engine.you begin with (for gasoline engines) 1 put the appropriate fuel in the tank 2 open the fuel valve 3 activate a partial 'choke' 4 pull the recoil rope 5 let it run for a minute to warm up 6 move choke to off position(zero choke) 7 plug in your power cords as needed. If your unit is diesel or propane, the procedure is the same , with alteration for the choke, and possible 'glow-plug' heat for the diesel. If you have an electric start unitat #4 above, activate the start switch. Best way, is to locate that USER MANUAL.and review. PSan aid that never fails in assisiting a hard to fire engine, is to open the spark-plug and squirt a little bit of starting fluid into the plug-hole, replace the plug and retrythis can be done via the air-filter also.
Q:I want to build a deisel generator that electrolizes water to make oxygen and hydrogen to increase fuel efficiency. Then I want to make an algae bioreactor and extract the fuel from the algae to power my diesel generator. What is the smallest engine that can support this? Do I need fuel injection or can the oxyhydrogen come in through the air intake? As I understand with oxyhydrogen added you can acquire a 100% fuel efficiency.
I'll guess HOH can be used, with all sizes of diesel and gasoline motors, likely even in gas turbine motors and jet engines, BUT it as near zero utility for any of them. Even the fractional hp model airplane motors should work. More than a pint of HOH Brown's gas is a serious explosion hazard, so be sure production is reduced while the motor is idling.

Q:I know that various types of locomotive's produce different amount of horse power. Here's the question: A single locomotive (any type) about what would be the average speed it could gain in 0 to 4 seconds on take off. Any smart A** answer will be reported for abuse, Thank you.
Others here with more knowledge on diesel locomotive mechanics and operations can give a better answer but because most diesel locomotives, particularly road-switchers, are not rated/geared to accelerate that quickly in that small amount of time (now an electric locomotive is an entirely different story), I would guess no faster than between 10-20mph in the timeframe you noted, 0-4 seconds. Perhaps something like an EMD E-series locomotive (which is rated for speed carrying passengers) could make the best time but again, I would guess no better than maybe 20 mph in 0-4 seconds.
