- Q: The original carpet in the house is now trying to remove the carpet glue
- Nail polish remover. The usage is similar to alcohol acetone. The effect is also good. Washing water does not require quality, good or general, as long as you can wash off all nail polish.
- Q: An orange candle spilled on my light burber carpet. I've removed all the wax but now I'm stuck with an orange stain!!! Any suggestions on how I could remove it?
- Hi There is two ways to remove wax from carpet. 1/ Use the edge of a butter knife to carefully scrape off or lift up as much solid wax as you can .Use a dry clean white terrycloth place it over the wax spot then heat it with a iron on low setting because most homes have polyester carpet, and if the iron gets too hot, it'll melt the carpet. Keep checking the spot every ten seconds or so, moving the terrycloth so that a clean spot is on the carpet. 2/ Which is the better way. Use the edge of a butter knife to carefully scrape off or lift up as much solid wax as you can Heat up a full kettle of water and pour it slowly on the carpet at the same time with a wet vac vacuum up the water. Keep on doing this until the wax is removed. For the orange stain I would recommend using a wet vac and slowly pour hot water (almost to the boiling point) on the spot and vacuum it up at the same time (this will open up the dye ports on the carpet fibre releasing the stain. and remove the residue from the carpet). If the stain is still visible than use a little carpet spotter on it or Dawn dishwashing liquid (2 or 3 drops into one cup of water) and repeat step 1. The stain may come back in a few days so you may have to do this a few times. Please DO NOT put anything on the carpet that was not made for carpet. At this point if the stain is still there please call a carpet cleaner. From a carpet cleaner of 14 years
- Q: I bought this cool wool runner rug at a consignment shop. It is possibly a blended wool with some brown cotton type thread woven in it that extends thoughout and the remains of the thread is the knotted fringes at the end.
- It looks indian to me.
- Q: Ok, i have a white area rug that has a few stains, nothing major.. I want to bleach it to not only get the stains out but i also love the smell of bleach, i bleach my blankets and my sheets every week. Im not really worried about ruining my rug, cause its not like its going to get any better. I know that you need to delute the bleach i just dont know how much to delute or how to go about cleaning the rug. Should i just poor it on or use gloves with a sponge and soak the areas?? Please help :) thanks!
- Take the rug outside to your driveway. Clean a spot on your driveway (soap and water, brush and rinse). Place the rug on that spot. Dilute bleach 10:1. Use scrub brush with a handle. Scrub. Rinse with hose. Hang to dry.
- Q: wax cleanup from rug
- don't use an iron. You have a good chance of melting your rug if it is made of synthetic fiber. I used an iron on a rug before and the rug material actually melted and stuck to the cloth I had laid on top. If your carpet is wool or cotton it won't melt...but the melted wax will actually wick into the carpet fiber when it liquifies. Do the opposite. Get a bag of ice and freeze it for several minutes, then scrape the hardened wax from the carpet with a credit card or plastic scraper. If there is any wax color remaining in the carpet, you may have more problems.
- Q: I'm looking to hang about door size carpet pieces on my closet walls [don't ask why] and was wondering a good adhesive to use or if I should just use nails?
- Or, use a 'rod' (i.e. 'dowel rods') through the top of the 'turned over' top piece of the carpet and hang it up with ribbon or cord attached to the rod and then drill your wall and put a screw or two in and hang the ribbon off that! You could use ribbon or cord to match the colour of your room? Hope this helps:)

- Q: ive got 2 rugs in my kitchen i need to wash but they have a rubber back and im worried if i put them in the washier the rubber will wear off. last time i washed my fathers rugs for him the rubber started to come off in small chunks (it was also the first time they had ever been washed) and i dont want the same to happen to mine. im not worried about drying them id just lay them outside on the porch rail and let them air dry. does anyone have any suggestions? if i hand wash them will they get just as clean as if they were washed in the washer?

- Q: Hi everyone, how do i take a plain white area rug and make a black floral design on it on parts of the rug? like on two corners and maybe a swirl or two in middle ? i know ive seen people use templates and literarly spray or paint over template to make design. then use a sealer or something i dont know :( help thank you
- I did a design on an outdoor sisal type rug and it came out really nice. I used spray paint and sealed it with polyurethane. You can get the templates at a craft store or make one yourself. There might be a problem if there is a high pile on the carpet. The design might not have clean edges. You could try one section of it on the back of the rug. Or get a carpet remanent with a pile like you have on your white carpet to try. If the design does not have clear edges you might be able to touch it up with a tiny paintbrush. I don't think a dye (like Rit Dye) would work. It would run and make a mess. I think you would have to stick to a surface treatment only-like spray paint.
