Q: Hi. I am planning to install new kitchen faucet and noticed that there are two shut off valves under the sink. One of them is badly rusted and needs to be replaced. I noticed that it is connected to three pipes (one of which is kitchen faucet). The other is clearly water coming in. What is the third one connected to wall? Q: 1998 Ford Crown Victoria LX 4.6L Use 89 Octane BP, Shell, Chevron gas. When the engine is under stress(acceleration or going up incline) the engine sounds like the valves are chattering. I can increase the rpm's and the chattering goes away. Had the same problem with 95 Thunderbird 4.6 and have heard other ford cars going down the road with this problem. Air leak? Don't really want to use higher octane due to gas prices and possible engine damage. Also, in the thunderbird, i used a bottle of octane boost and the next day a valve spring broke. Was the octane boost a possible cause?: it is not valve chatter, it is called Pinging, it is a fairly common problem, what it is caused by is hot spots in the engine, or by overly advanced spark timing, i would check your base timing, perhaps even back it off a degree or two, i would also run a bottle of marvel mystery oil, or gm top engine cleaner through a vacuum line to burn out the crud that has built up, the sum total of these repairs: about 15 bucks, the savings: your engine! as for your t-bird, it was the pinging that broke the valve spring, not the tank of hi octane. hope this helps

Q: I own a 2001 Chevy cavalier Z24 with a dual cam... Just got it tuned up and noticed oil in my spark plug sockets, which leaves me to assume either the valve cover gaskets or the cam carrier gasket is leaking oil... I would prefer to so this by myself considering I'm sure it's going to be costly.. Anyone have any ideas on how I go about replacing either?: valve cover shouldn't be that much of a problem as long as you have some basic tools and some mechanical ability. Take it that its a 4 cylinder car, the size of the motor is very helpful when looking for tips. Just don't over torque your bolts when replacing. 89 in lbs is about normal on gm's valve covers

A globe valve is used when the ability to throttle and control the flow is desired. The globe valve can be positioned at anywhere from 1% to 100% flow. This allows for very precise control over how much liquid will be allowed to flow through the valve. There is another type of valve called a gate valve. The gate valve can not be positioned with such precision as the globe valve and it is used when flow rate is not as important.

Q: My new Trek 1000 has a type of valve stem different from the standard (car type) stem on my mountain bike. Do I need an adaptor to fit it to a pump or do I need a whole new pump? Also, have you seen a tire gauge that fits this stem type?: It okorder /

Q: also are those air flow limiting valves safe for the air pump to reduce the flow of air, I have one because the air bubbles are just way too many without one and it scares the fish away: a check valve is to prevent back siphoning of water into the pump if you have a power outage or unplug the pump by accident. I'd suggest checking it by blowing through it the wrong way; if air does pass through get a new check valve (check new ones to be sure they don't limit airflow too much, and that the close in the wrong direction, many are cheap crap and don't work the day you buy them, so check them before you leave the store with it...note: same with thermometers, compare them with each other so you don't get the one that's crap) what you want is a normal air valve, they come in various configurations, one or more valves so as to run multiple airstones and to balance the airflow to each stone or ornament. You should not however just use the valve to limit airflow, as this damages the pump eventually. You can just let one of two valves bleed off a little air; however make sure another check valve is in the line from the tank to the valves or else you risk water coming out of that valve if it's lower than the tank water level.....You may want a smaller air pump or an adjustable one instead.
