- Q: I was told Wed. that I need to have my aortic valve replaced. I was wondering if anyone could share their experience with this surgery good or bad. I am meeting with the surgeon on the 26th, and am very nervous. Any tips and or suggestions appreciated. I'm a 39 year old female. Thanks in advance
- Lisa Sorry to hear that you have to have this done . I will put you in my prayer's , Haven't heard from you in some time if you feel like chatting send me a e-mail . Hope all goes well and Merry Christmas
- Q: My house has hot water baseboard heat. In the basement, there is a wood burning stove (now it is like a radiator) that has the pipe system going through it Between the pipe in and the pipe out is a valve. Does it have to be opened or closed all the way? There is no other way to control the heat in the basement I was thinking of opening the valve half way, but I do not want to destroy the valve.
- you have water baseboard pipe heat running through your Wood burning Fireplace? is that correct? At the end there is a valve? If so these two have no correlation with one another. Your water heating system is pumped through with a circulating pump and the temperature is controled by a thermostat. If If the house is hot then you have a thermostat problem OR there are zone valves located within the piping that opens and closes according to your thermostat setting. If you are not getting comfortable temps then check this little zone valve motor and replace. Just open all the baseboards covers until you locate a little zone valve motor valve. Change this out and see what happens.
- Q: How does a deluge valve differ from a standard alarm valve in a wet system? What are differences from a standard wet pipe system regard alarm trim and NPFA codesAlso if an existing system, over 2000sft, (pipe sched method) has no siamese connection, and I am adding addtional heads via the same pipe schedule method - Am i required to upgrade the riser/alarm trim to include a fire department connection? - (re:NFP13, 2002)
- Open sprinklers or spray nozzles are attached to piping and to the valves. The valve is connected through control valves to a water supply system. The deluge valve consists of a housing, a swinging clapper like an ordinary check valve and a retractable keeper to hold the clapper tight to the valve seat. Electrical pneumatic or hydraulic mechanisms can retract the keeper, causing the valve to open. Other attachments provide for alarm sensors, gages and the like. See one at the link below
- Q: my pcv valve tube is broken in half I replaced it with a rubber hose does it have to be whole
- pcv valve does not hepl transmission inany way it stands for positive crackshaft ventilation pcv valve is for emissions only it does nothing for transmission should be replaced on most cars every 48000 km, i would'nt worry about a pcv valve..
- Q: I just installed a iac valve on my 2001 blazer but didnt go through the reset steps. Do i have to unistall and do the steps or go from here with the reset. Truck stalls out now and surges... Or could i just hava a defective part.

- Q: Where is the illusive heater control valve?
- The only valve i could think you are referring too would be the vacuum control on the back of the dash mounted heater controls. They do not have a valve in the coolant lines. The heat turned on or off by a vacuum operated door inside the heater box that merely closes and blocks the heat from escaping into the car. If you are having heater problems first make sure both lines running to the firewall feel hot/warm when engine is at temperature. Secondly you will have to find the actuators under dash on the heater box and make sure they are moving if not ck for vacuum.......
- Q: The hot water in my bathroom is leaking from the faucet. I've shut off the valve below the sink, but it continues to dribble out. Also, there appears to be some rust build-up. Could that account for a failing valve?
- It sounds like your shutoff valve is not working properly. You need to shut off the hot water at the main valve where it comes out of the water heater (this will shut off all hot water in the house); drain the line (there's a little knob on the main shutoff valve you can twist that will allow the water in the pipe to drip out), then replace the shutoff valve. The shutoff valve is probably threaded pipe and can be loosened using two wrenches (hold the pipe with one wrench and twist the nut with the other - you want to conteract the twisting motion on the pipe so the pipe does not weaken and burst, which is why the one wrench needs to hold the pipe). once the valve is removed, clean the pipe threads with a wire brush and cleaning solvent to remove the rust and install the new valve. Be sure to read the manufacturer's directions to see if you need to wrap the threads with teflon tape first. When the valve is replaced, you can turn on the main hot water valve at the water heater; then use the new shutoff valve when you prepare to repair or replace the faucet. I would expect the faucet is leaking due to worn out washers, you can take it apart and tell. I susupect the rust you see is a result of the leak and not the other way around.
- Q: Mitral valve prolapse have impression on lifetime?please answer with source
- Mitral valve prolapse (MVP) is the most common heart defect in population. The prevalence of MVP is about 0.6–2.5%. The occurrence increases with age, and the highest is in young woman. MVP is diagnosed by transthoracic echocardiography when displacement of mitral valve leaflet(s) above the annulus into the left atrium during a systole is present (Fig. 1). The clinical symptoms of the disease are connected with instability of the autonomic nervous system. Fig. 1 Two-dimensional echocardiographic long axis parasternal view of mitral valve prolapse. MV mitral valve, LV left ventricle, LA left atrium, RV right ventricle, Ao aorta Such a large population of patients becomes a problem of social significance, and it is extremely important to determine the influence of MVP as a chronic disease on patients. That is why our trial to evaluate the health-related quality of life (HRQOL) in children with MVP was undertaken. There are many publications concerning MVP in adult patients, but no study on their quality of life has been found. The literature concerning HRQOL of children with heart defects is not very extensive; the authors analyzed the problem of patients with serious conditions, such as hypoplastic left heart syndrome, transposition of the great arteries, pulmonary atresia, tetralogy of Fallot and non-complex heart defects, like ventricular or atrial septal defect [1–3]. The aim of our study was to evaluate the quality of life of children with MVP and the impact of clinical symptoms on HRQOL. You will detailed information on the link given in sources, as it is long topic.
- Q: My Dr placed me in the care of a cardiologist who ran some test and an echo scan reports i have a leaking valve but she failed to tell me which one and i failed to even think to ask. What are the results of leaking heart valves? I asked my mother and she says each one has a different result. What are they? Any help would be great. thanks.
- There are four valves in the human heart (Mitral valve, tricuspid valve, aortic valve and pulmonary valve). If the heart valve is leaky, the doctor can hear heart murmurs through the stethoscope. Leaky valve may cause bacterial endocarditis, heart palpitations or even heart attack. Medications will be administered for prolonged period to control the heart disease complications. Echocardiography report will clearly state which heart valve is leaking.
- Q: what is meant by inherent characteristic for the steam control valve??
- There are different type of valves, (ball, gate, globe, needle, diaphram) each have their own characteristics in how they operate and the effect they have on flow. Inherent characteristic would be an effect that valve has on the fluid flowing through it.(steam can also be considered a fluid ) An example is a globe valve used to throttle a flow does so by adjusting the size of its opening. In essense its a variable orifice. Flow through an orifice results in a pressure drop across that orifice. So, an inherent characteristic of a globe valve is a pressure drop.
