- Well, it depends where you live and the horses you have. If you live in the UK, for example, and have cobs which are out 24/7 they wont need a rug for most of the year, unless they are clipped or the weather is exceptionally wet. Perhaps just one lightweight turnout and one heavyweight turnout, and maybe a fleecy underneath for the very cold days.

- Replace the carpet. Nothing will ever get all the odor or urine out. It's soaked through to the pad and possibly the concrete under that. You might think about painting a sealant on the concrete after you take up the ruined carpet and pad. Before putting down new carpet. That odor can seep back up from the concrete (or wood) subfloor for years to come. Every time it rains or is damp outside, you very likely will smell it again. Better yet, put down wood laminate or something instead of more carpet.

- If you have olefin carpeting you can use anything to get it out. If you have a blend then you are out of luck. If it can penetrate wood to stain it, it will penetrate carpet fiber. We use a solvent to break down oil stains. Water based cleaners will not work. Like takes out like. Be careful with solvent cleaners. If you use too much it can beak down the glue on you carpet backing. You can get solvent spotters from carpet cleaning supply stores. We consider this to be carpet damage not a stain.
