About the wires...At some of the office supply stores you may be able to pick computer wire bundlers. I sometimes see them advertised on TV. They are fairly inexpensive and wrap around several wires at one location thus eliminating the tangle of wires. They are still somewhat visible but better contained and come in a couple of different colors.. As with any AC, it cools off everything in the room not just the people. The more the AC has to cool, the harder it will work. Get my drift? No matter what you chose, there are pros and cons. You just have to be willing to make concessions for either choice.
