Q: My neice spilled pink nail polish on a beige carpet, what can i do to take it out?
I read where someone said creamy peanut butter will take the stains out of a carpet, if that doesn't work try Magic Eraser by the same company that makes Mr. Clean. Magic Eraser took ink stains, nail polish, and other stubborn stains, off of toys that I use to recycle for the mission.
Q: Hi, I am considering byung a rug for the living room where my child will be able to play/crall in couple of months. What do you recommend. Quality? Type? Any suggestions? What not to buy? Thanks
This rug from lowe's is very soft, and easy to clean. Darker rugs would show spit up and drool stains easier. I also agree with the rug grip underneath. It will prevent a possibly very painful slip!
Q: read my other post
You can normally exchange or return unused items to Home Depot with a receipt. If you don't have the receipt then they give you a card with store credit for the purchase price.
Q: How can I lay a carpet on an iron sheet in winter?
Carpet paving generally has two kinds of methods, one is the simple paving method, is the carpet with a stick adhesive on the ground, also known as B pavement; another way is to put a layer of rubber or foam cushion on the ground, and then pave the carpet at the top, and around the edges with dowel bars will fix the carpet the carpet, splicing place, need to use hot zone will be two pieces of carpet bonded together, this approach is called a pavement.
Q: So, I m moving to an apartment that has totally outdated carpet. I want to change it, but obviously I can t being that it is an apartment I m renting. Are there any other options, other than buying a giant rug? Also, what are carpet tiles? I ve heard that they re cheaper than actual carpet, but do they require installation? Are they permanent? DIY people, help!!
You cannot lay carpet tiles over existing carpet.
Q: My ex landlord is charging me pro-rated costs to replace the entire carpet. While I don't think the carpet needs to be replaced, they said they couldn't get all the carpet installed before the new tenant moved in that they will replace the carpet upon the exit of the new tenant, whenever that may be. Can the legally do that? They've sent me receipts for the carpet cleaning have deducted the pro-rated amount to replace all the carpet. FYI I moved out the end of June, they sent me estimates the end of July now in January they've just sent me the invoices, I asked, for the work they completed, the new tenant moved in-in August.
They can't charge you for cleaning the carpet and also for replacing the carpet. If the landlord fails to replace the carpet I would sue him for the full amount that he deducted for the replacement. If he didn't replace it he can't charge for replacing it. It should not take more than a day to replace all the carpet in a normal sized apartment. Him telling you that he didn't have the time to replace all the carpet is total bull crap. In California the landlord is required to provide you your security deposit returned or a statement within 21 days after you surrender possession itemizing the reasons he is not returning any part of your deposit and the itemized cost. Also in California the landlord is required by law to give a tenant the opportunity to have a move-out inspection prior to vacating the premises. If he failed to ask you if you wanted an inspection you could be entitled to your entire security deposit to be returned to you.
Q: I need to settle an argument with my husband on this one, does anyone know first hand if steam vacs ruin your carpet?
Hi Using a steam-cleaning machine on your carpet will not destroy your carpets. Now after saying this. Using too much water (drying times of over 24 hours) can damage your carpet. Using soap with a PH of 10 and up will damage your carpet. Using a lot of soap can damage your carpet. (Leaves a sticky residue) Carpet manufactures recommends that you clean your carpet every 18 months minimum. From a carpet cleaner of 14 years.
Q: It seems like my hardwood floors are dull where my area rugs are. Is there any way to prevent them from permanently damaging my floors?
The rug is supposed to be protecting the floor. The exception is when you have cherry floors which darken from the sunlight. Then when you move a rug you have a much lighter area of wood where the rug was. Sometimes the backing from the rug may dull the floor but a quick clean up with soapy water will restore the finish shine. Good luck---
Q: Can anyone suggest the best carpet cleaner ( aside from a steam cleaner...) for a light-tan-old carpet? The stains are from the previous owners; but, also, are over active puppies bladder... Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreicated... Thanks...
We have a rug doctor that we use at home and with rentals and with extremely hot water and a good carpet cleaner the stains do come out. The trick is to saturate the padding below as well as the carpet and extract it so the stain comes all the way out. Vinegar rinse helps the smell go away and does clean as well. (white vinegar) As well as a good pet stain cleaner you can purchase We have 7 year old carpets and they always come clean if you keep them that way. Rug Doctors can be rented as well as bought. If not some of the over the counter types just do not deep clean steam is the best . Good Luck :)
Q: I'm trying to figure out how to make one of those carpet things cats climb on. i have extra carpet and want to make one for my cat.
Try Plywood and even some strong cardboard tubing, try to stay away from Shag carpeting, or loose knit.....otherwise, you will be picking up loose carpet, or the Cats will eat them....not good for the inside organs of your baby. Remember to balance the seating if you are making a multilevel condo.
