Q: My wife and I are buying our first home. The current owner has new carpet in the living room, stairs and upstairs hall way. We are not going to have the funds to change the ruugs right away so we will need to paint around them. Currently the walls are white and we do not really care for plain colors, but want to stay somewhat conservative. The furniture we are chosing is probably going to be lighter fabric. Also, what wood would look best? We are changing the railing. I was thinking a lighter wood with white pickets.
To tone down the uber-greenness of the forest green rugs, a nice neutral beige would be good and would warm up the room considerably. If you want to break up the vast expanses of green, opt for a cream-colored rug. Warm wood-tones will be good, like a rich honey color. After seeing that space, perhaps a nice earth-tone, such as terra-cotta or honey brown would be best. It would distract from the darkness of the rug and make the room look much richer.
Q: How to deal with bedroom carpet near the door
When indoor decoration is completed, make a mark, which considers from a beautiful and practical point of view, by the way. Fifth, the device is qualified acceptance, it only makes home full carpet: even if you don't use carpet, you still need to do. Fourth, if the floor heating paves along corner, you should pay attention to: According to the personal economic situation, the waterproof should do well: The door bottom should reserve the height of the thickness of carpet plus 1cm from the ground (or the door will not open), seventh water pipes, now at home, try to buy high-quality carpet: The door of carpet and hard material junction do not to use loose sand, wood finishing have done mirror processing: Cement floor has done self-leveling or mirror processing, there is no certain height of the people; there is no furniture and sundries debris piled up indoor(convenient for construction) second: The bottom of skirting line should reserve height that the thickness-1cm from the ground
Q: I am getting carpet installed tomorrow (Monday). I had bent it to get it upstairs. I kept it bent for about 1 week. There is some wrinkles now near the middle. Will this stretch out when he installs the carpet in the room???
if it's installed correctly they should come out
Q: I have pets. Is it okay to have a solid floor, like tile or terrazo, on my living room floor and just put a big rug on it instead of carpet? Do you thik that will hurt the resale value of the home?
Carpet is a matter of taste. In many cases there is a allowance given by the seller of a home to a buyer for carpet. Very seldom does a buyer keep the carpets installed by I seller. I've even seen a seller install new carpet just to have the buyer rip it all out before they move in. Save your money and buy a through rug.
Q: My carpet had high traffic so I bought a large bottle of carpet spray from the grocery store. I sprayed and worked the solution in with a sponge, I cleaned a 5X7 area = 35sq ftSome parts of the carpet are still kind of damp when walking on them, it has been 20 hours.I have my windows open and I live in Colorado, very dry...humidity meter in my house says 26 right now. Even with my windows open for the past 20 hours the carpet still isn't completely dry.I am concerned about mold because I lived in a house once where we had mold problems and I don;t want them again! I read Mold can grow very fast...Since I used carpet cleaner and didn't just pour water on my carpets will the carpet cleaner cause mold the same way water will? Thanks!
Mold takes 3 days and warm temperatures to get started, they also require a food source. You should know that what you did was create a dirt/soil magnet with the soapy spray. All professionals will rinse the soap, called pre-spray, from the carpet fibers, using treated hot water and powerful vacuum extraction. Consider this a part of your education and do not repeat the attempted cleaning process that will end in dismal failure. A professional carpet using van mounted equipment and a rotary head cleaning machine, such as an RX20 or a Roto Vac 360, for best results and do this at least once a year.
Q: So I have this big area rug in the middle of my living room and it keeps rolling up and sliding around how do I make it stay in one place. Nothing permanent because I rent. And its on carpet.

Q: The rug is wool, no backing and about 5x8 and covered in dog and cat hair! Can I do it myself? Or do I need to take it to the cleaners?
i would use a damp cloth to get pet hair off then i used vanish bar soap and warm water, comes up a treat and smells fresh just dont have the water too hot! also put a bit of washing up liquid in the water it helps.good luck
Q: I want to make a rug, but I don't want to buy any of the patterns they've got at the store. I don't know what I'm supposed to do. If someone can walk me through it, that would be great!
Get yourself a piece of 'rug canvas' and buy a 'rug hook' and several different 'colors' of 'rug yarn' to 'fit' the size of canvas and hook. Start 'hooking' in any 'corner' and just go across to the next corner, then back ... and you can 'draw your own design' or just use 'different colors' randomly ... and the 'hook' should have 'instructions' on how to use it. It's best if you buy the 'already cut' yarn and fold it in half when you 'hook' but if you do that with your 'first' rug (which can be really small until you learn how to 'hook well') then you can decide whether you want to 'cut your own yarn' when you do your next rug. Good luck and HAVE FUN! I've hooked many 'rugs' and wall hangings, and it's a 'total blast' ... but I can't do it any more due to rheumatoid arthritis ... so you can now have 'all the fun' I'd have, with my blessing.
Q: I purchased this large rug at IKEA, I think its made of wooven cotton, but Im not sure (it doesnt have the tag anymore). Its really dirty, but I'm not able to put it in the laundry machine, its to big.The rug is this light cream color, so stains are very visible. Its got this weird stains, but they are made of dirt ,not of another substance. I already tried cleaning with the vacuum, but it doesnt remove them, the rug still looks dirty. Any ideas on how to clean it?
I used to have a rug like that. The first few years I had it I would hang it out over my clothesline and spray it with the hose using a gardening attachment, that instead of fertilizer I filled with a mixture of water and laundry soap. Once that was done I sprayed it with plain water to rinse out all the soap. After a few washes with hose it eventually came clean. I did this about 2 times a year. That rug lasted almost 10 years. I finally got rid of it when we got a new carpet. Of course you have to do this on a nice day so that you can leave the rug on the clothesline ot air-dry when you are finished.
Q: how do I crochet an oval rug for my bathroom?
I okorder / ... Here they have instructions for crocheting a basic oval shape. They give instructions for making a crocheted oval rug from fabric strips. You could always use the same basic method and crochet 3 strands of cotton yarn together instead of using fabric strips if you wanted to. There are also crochet pattern leaflets that have patterns for crochet rugs. You might do a search on line at Annie's Attic or Leisure Arts and check out the pattern leaflets they have for sale. Or just do a search on OKorder for crochet rug patterns and see what you come up with. I think you'll be surprised with what is out there... Good luck on finding a pattern you can use...
