Q: I have a 2005 Impala and it has been acting funny. Some morning the heat takes about 20 minutes to start working. The air conditoner has not came on once. The gage also takes awhile to start working and when it does it goes pass the halfway mark.I even notice when im sitting at a red light, i can feel the engine shaking a little. I have a appt to get it check and put on the machine tomorrow. I just want to go there with an idea of what the problem could be. Could this be a thermostat or water pump problem???? Help?: thermostat for your heat problem but why your engine is shaking I don't know why, they will find out when they put the machine on it.

Q: My water pump in my pontiac bonneville 99 went bad, and while I was in the navy, in aviation fuels, some of my job consisted of repairing pumps and valves, and rebiulding them all together, and this water pump from my car seems to have some of the same features of previos pumps i've worked on, usualy when i use to repair pumps, most of the time i just replaced the bearings, just wondering if its do-able, im looking for the cheapist way to fix this, the casing for the pump seems to be in very good condition, but havent got it out of my car yet, im short on tools right now for the moment... thanks in advance for any help...: Don't bother. Water pumps fail on this motor all the time and replacements are plentiful and cheaper than dirt. I won't even use rebuilt water pumps in my shop - we only install new ones because they are much more reliable and the cost difference is literally only a couple of bucks.

Q: need to know how to change water pump of my plymouth voyager its a 96 and motor is a 4.: Rick is usually spot on but he kiinda missed the boat on this one. The only 4 cyl available in a 96 Voyager was the 2.4L. There were 3 V-6 options but only one 4 cyl. As C-tech said it is driven by the timing belt so I would recommend replacing the belt and tensioner while you are there. ALLDATA shows a labor time of 3.8 hours. Here's the procedure. NOTE: If you've never set up a timing belt before find a helper who has or hire a mechanic. If done wrong you can destroy your valves. Raise and support vehicle and remove right inner splash shield. Remove accessory drive belts and power steering pump. Drain cooling system. Support engine from bottom and remove right engine mount. Remove power steering pump bracket attaching bolts and set pump and bracket assembly aside. Power steering lines do not need to be disconnected. Remove right engine mount bracket. Remove timing belt. Remove inner timing belt cover. Remove water pump attaching bolts and the water pump. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following: Install new O-ring gasket in water pump body O-ring groove. Tighten bolts to specification. Fill cooling system. Best of Luck!!!

Thanks!: I strongly suggest that you purchase the Bible at a local outboard shop, it has exploded views and good directions, as well as tips, even if you don't know a lot about engine's it will educate you about YOUR engine, just thumb through it, the water pump change out directions are very good !

Any part that doesn't change the form, fit, or function can be used in place of the OEM part. My question is what is this upgraded pump going to do for you. Does it deliver more water per minute? If you have no other modifications, my wouldn't a stock or exact replacement work for you? If the pump adds water delivery, then they could argue that the water is traveling too fast in the system to effectively cool the engine.
