Q: How do you remove it without taking the engine out?
2001 Windstar Van
Q: on my 92' toyota celica, i got the heater core by pass fixed and also a new radiator because both were leaking, and now my mechanic tells me i also need a new water pump , which can be really expensive! apparently it is leaking water too, so i was thinkng just filling up my car with water before driving until i can afford to get it fixed.. can this shortcut be done to prevent my water pump causing me further problems?
You can do that, but you can't fill it with pure water because in time you'll have only water in the system which can cause problems. Antifreeze also increases boiling point of the water/antifreeze mixture thus protecting the engine... You should always add 50/50 mixture. Anyway, bad pump is generally bad for cooling. It is better to have leaking radiators than bad pump.
Q: I have a 94 Mazda b2300 it was working great last week then all the sudden it started making a knocking sound and started to overheat! Its still drivable but it overheats if i go far! A friend told me it can be the Water Pump so i put a new one, I was told it can be the Thermostat so i had a new one put in. It worked for awhile but began overheating again. My truck is my livelihood so its important i get it fixed! I cant afford a mechanic but just asking to see if anyone knows what it could possibly be? It catches good and the engine sounds strong but it keeps overheating!

Q: Home water well is artesian, to holding tank. I am needing to replace my pump yearly. Inside of the pump is rusted, this causing a real loud whining sound before failure. Pump motor isn't failing, the inside of the pump ends up freezing loosing the ability to spin.Any suggestions as to why?
that's a vague description of the pump. theres several types of pumps too. you need to either shield the pump, or move it to a different location, so its nots moist and damp all the time. drop a sand point down to the well, seal the well from the pump , or buy a different type. call a well service and ask them your options. good luck man! gee, that must get expensive.
Q: my car ran hot a few times, its a 2006 chevy impala LS with about 50k miles.I do alot of driving but never had a problem until now. I took it to get an oil change and they said that I need a new water pump. I really dont know what that means but im afraid to drive my car until i get a new pump. i called around a few auto places and no one has the part. I called the chevy dealer and they said part and labor is $600. any suggestions of other places i can check for the part? can i still drive my car in the mean time? is it safe?are water pumps usually that expensive?
Since your car is out of factory warranty, I would check the web for recall notices for that model. Just type 06 Impala recall in google and it will come up. If no recall I would call around to local auto shops and get an estimate. That engine is in a bunch of GM vehicle and the part should be easy to obtain, especially for a hometown shop. The labor should not exceed 4 hours max and @$75 an hour max labor should be no more than $300. This is a HIGH estimation. The pump should be no than $125. The dealer will overcharge because thay can. I would not drive it but to the mechanic because you could do alot of damage. Head gasket could go. Radiator could be damaged. Engine could seize depending on how hot you get it and for how long.
Q: It is a 110 shallow well pump for my water source to the house.
The pump will turn on when it detects a loss of prepressuren the system or if there is a bad foot valve in the well. A bad foot valve lets water back into the well thus lowering the pressure in the system. An overlooked problem may be found in the toilets and is sometimes undetectable unless you take the tank top off, flush the toilet and wait for it to fill and listen for any hissing noises coming from the fill valve or if the water level in the tank is too high which will allow water to go down the over flow tube after the tank is full and will kick the pump back on after a while. Check for drippy faucets including your outside hose bibs. I deal with this on a regular basis and it is a simple fix more times than not. Good Luck!
Q: my 2003 dodge durango broke down 6 weeks ago. the mechanic put it on the diagnostic machine, and it said i needed a fuel pump and a water pump. well i got the fuel pump changed and he told me if i kept water in the car it could hold out for a little while until i get the water pump fixed. so i kept water in it it's been 3 weeks. saturday night all of a sudden i watched the temperature gauge jump to HOT! I pulled over and it was smoking like hell. i'm lucky a friend of mine drove by at that instant and went to his house and got me antifreeze and water and put it in the car. so it was fine sunday. then last nightafter i got home it was smoking again. i let it cool down and then filled it up with water. this morning i took my daughter to school and then drove to my other daughter's daycare and it was smoking like crazy and there was antifreeze and water all over the ground where i parked. so i left it at the daycare and got a ride to work. should i fix the water pump? or is
it may be the waterpupmp but the again it may just be flow valve. Take your car to the dealer and have them look at it. If it's the flow valve then you save a lot of money.
Q: Hey for the past month my car has been leaking coolant, making a wierd noise when i drive it, and saying low coolant when its filled to the top.my husband took it out to get gas this morning and it stopped on him and had to be towed to the mechanicthe mechanic said its the water pump and somethin about anti freeze and this cost almost 300 bucks with parts and laborim just wanting to know if a water pump does indeed cause issues like this before we dish out this kinda money!!! btw its a 96 chevy luminathanks
Yes, when a water pump starts going bad it leaks antifreeze, and if you have low antifreeze engine will get hot and lock up. You'll be lucky if you didn't screw up the bearings(or any thing else). The low coolant light comes on when the water pump quites pumping too. If the car still doesn't turn over after it has cooled down, then the engine is toast.
Q: I have a fairly new jetted tub. I stupidly used bubble bath 2 days before and have since read that it is not good, but just because of the amount of bubbles, not that it will actually harm the system. The electrical circuit is not tripped. I hear this clicking but the pump doesn't turn on. Any ideas? Do I need a new pump?
Also may want to check inside the access door underneath some have a cord plugged into a GFI receptacle that may be tripped. May want to check it just in case.
Q: i already removed all bolts including the fan except for the last bolt on the water pump which the serpentine belt rides on the bolt backs into that so i am trying to find out how to get the bolt from the serpentine belt pulley off do i have to pull the serpentine pully off and if so how there is no bolt or allen holding the serpentine pully onim just trying to replace the water pump
If the pulley is bolted from behind, the bracket has four bolts that mounts it to the block, you need to find those bolts remove the pulley/bracket assembly. If it is a 3800 engine you might need the plastic elbow from the bracket to the the intake manifold also. Coolant flows through that elbow to the heater hoses. poor design, I know but what are you gonna do? Got to love tose engineers LOL. Good luck
