Q:The water pump on my 1997 corolla has been leaking, I want to replace it by myself. I did some research online, and get the diagram of the engine structure. It seems to me it is not very hard to do, but who knows, it might end up being a very tricky job. Did anyone replace the water pump on 97 corolla before? How difficult was it? Two things I actually worry: 1. It might be hard to unbolt the water pump pulley, because there is little room insert a wrench. 2. Also, because of the lack of room, it would be also hard to unbolt the timing belt cover (the 2nd/middle cover). A shop gave the quote of $440 to replace the water pump, and I think I should be able to do it myself.
it is the water pump. you will be bettor off letting the shop put it on because if you don't have the right tools DO NOT TRY TO DO YOURSELF. the water pump is right in front fan motor all that has to come off to get to the pump.
Q:Theirs a house on a hill and a pond at the bottom of the hill what kind of pump can pull water 50ft up a hill?
None. Atmospheric pressure is equivalent to about 10m of water height = 30ft. When a pump pulls water (or any liquid), up a certain height of pipe, it does do by lowering the pressure. In a centrifugal pump (the most common type for handling water) the point of lowest pressure is the centre of the rotor (the eye of the pump). In order to pull water 10m up, equivalent to 30ft, the pressure at the eye of the pump would be 0, which is unattainable. Not only that, but the water will begin to boil at a certain low pressure determined by the temperature of the water. That pressure at which the water begins to boil determines the lowest pressure than can exist at the eye of the pump and is a critical design variable. There are several ways to circumvent the problem of pumping water higher than 30ft. One would be to install more than one pump, with one of the pumps half-way up the hill. The other would be to install one single pump, but to place it near the pond. There is a limit to how high a pump can PULL (suck) water, but there is no limit, other than the amount of pressure the pum can generate and the piping can handle, to how far up a pump can PUSH water. If you need to puch water higher, you can always buy a bigger pump.
Q:what could cause a impeller on a water pump to be completly shredded up i just had to change mine in my toyota camry and was wondering if i could do anything to prevent this from happening again?
I have seen this once before, the impeller was so old and corroded that it partially separated from the bearing or shaft on which it spins, and came into contact with the pump housing. No fault of yours, just replace the water pump with a new one.
Q:i have little leak from water pump need to replace it in my mazda 6 2006 v6 3.0l. i have little over 120.000 miles on it. Any body know how much it may cost me?
I don't know why, but the water pump costs between $125 and $160. That seems a little high. It probably retails for $186. Under normal conditions, you just get things out of the way, unbolt the old pump, clean it up and put the new one in. The problem is the other stuff that gets in the way. I'm just estimating the job will take 5-8 hours. Just multiply times the labor rate in your area. Don't forget the anti-freeze when you're done.
Q:Im looking for a battery powered water pump, or, solo powered water pump that will pump water up about 30 feet up and 30 feet out.I would like to bring water from a pond up to an out house, which s 30 feet away and 30 feet up from the pond.I know water is heavy, but if this thing only moved 50 gallons (a day for solar, at once for battery) that would be enough.Any links to products you have experience with would be appreciated.
First, okorder has battery powered sump pumps but those only pump water to about 17 ft. You can search their web site to see if they have pumps for higher heads.
Q:I had to have my water pump replaced on my '95 Saturn because the car was leaking coolantFirst, why does the coolant leak with a bad water pump? Second, I paid $250 part and labor. Did I get screwed or is that pretty fair?
Saturn Sl1 Water Pump
Q:I'm planning to install a water pump using electric generator from a very long distance going up from a cliff
if it is powerful enough to power the pump then yes.
Q:i learned from wikipedia that the water pumps back to reactor where it is heated again and the cycle begins again. but then i saw this diagram
I can see why you're a little confused. There are actually 3 separate loops in most reactor designs and you can see this in the diagram. The primary heat transport loop contains the water that touches and cools the fuel and this is the water that is pumped back to the reactor where it is heated again.... It is shown in the diagram in pink. The water from the primary heat transport loop passes into a steam generator which is full of water but the water in these two systems is kept separate to ensure all radioactivity stays in the primary heat transport loop and in the containment building. Basically the pipes from the primary heat transport system pass through a large tank of water and heat the water in the tank causing it to boil. The steam is then passed out of the generator, out of containment, and into the turbine. Next it goes into a heat exchanger which is similar to the steam generator except it is used to cool the water. The cooled water then passes back into containment and into the steam generator to be boiled again. Finally, the third heat transport loop moves cold water from either a lake, ocean, or cooling tower, into the turbine building where it cools the water in the secondary heat transport loop. This water is kept completely separate from the water in the secondary heat transport loop to ensure that if the secondary loop water somehow becomes contaminated, it doesn't pass into the third loop and get into the lake, ocean, or atmosphere. I hope that clears things up :)
Q:I have a '97 Grand Prix with a 3800 V-6. There is a single bolt on the left side of the water pump that is directly behind the power steering pump pulley. How do you get the PS pump pulley off? I pulled a tricep trying to get this thing loose, and I'm no further now than when I started on it. Can anybody give me a tip on removing the pulley or the whole PS pump? I have a brand new water pump that I can't get on because of this fine piece of design by the brilliant engineers at GM!
you dont have to pull the power steeing pulley off...There three holes in the power steering pulley that allow access to two or possible three bolt that hold the pump to the bracket... Remove the belt, then get a deep either 13 mm or 10 mm socket and place it in one of the holes in the pulley...you will find that when you remove the bolts, the pump will slide out of the way.... Do not remove any powersteeing lines or any other item from the power steering pump..You will only be causing yourself more work..... The brillant engineers at GM left you an out...All you have to do is look...ha ha
Q:How many lift pumps should be used for 100 meters tall buildings?
