Q: I've seen lights hung from it or material draped over it. It's usually used in school or church gyms when decorating for an event.: it is called T bar grid and is found at hardware stores in pieces

Q: I am trying to hang a 30 LBS item from a drop ceiling, with no luck. I would like to use 2-3 eyebolts to distribute the weight, but everytime I think I figured it out, it pulls right through. The ceiling can't be very thick at all. Can this be done?: You won't be able to hang from the grid. What you can do is to get some threaded rod and rod anchors, attach them to the framing above the grid, and then drill a small hole in the tile for the rod to come through for the object you wish to hang. Q: Okay so this may sound weird, but my bedroom ceiling is basically made out of office tiles (almost like a suspended ceiling) and I would like to change it to a normal ceiling (drywall). Is there any way I can do this, and if so how much would it cost and who should I contact to get it done?: if there is dry wall or plaster ceiling .and its in bad shape .if it some what level,you can install dry wall over, price depends on size and what it will take to complete the job

Q: I am finishing my basement and want to install a drop/suspended ceiling instead of drywalling it. I want the ceiling to be as high as possible but have a bunch of large ducts in the middle of the room. Do I just build a bulk head around the duct work and then put tiles around it or are there a bar system that will do that for me? I just don't want my whole ceiling at the height of the duct work.: First okorder /?XlinkID=13 Typical drop ceilings need about 4 whereas the CeilingMax mounts flush. As for the ducts, you could box them out with plywood and just paint them with a semi-gloss white paint (or the same as your trim color). I personally wouldn't tile them. If they are square and tight to the ceiling, you could install the CeilingMax right up to the side of the duct and just paint the duct itself.

Q: I'm putting suspended ceiling in my basement (using Armstrong tiles). Unfortunately, on one of the walls, the level of the ceiling has to be above the top level of the wall framing (it's a long story involving a structural beam, some heating vents and a window), so there are no studs behind the drywall where I need to attach the wall molding. Would molly bolts or something like that be able to support the weight of the suspended ceiling, should I try to cut some wood to fit and block in behind the drywall, or is there something else that I should do?: A coarse thread drywall screw would work, but then you would have to counter-sink each screw and go back and putty over each screw before you paint your molding or it would look horrible. Rent an air compressor and a finish nailler. It will shoot the finish nails into the metal studs. (just make sure that you use 16 gauge not 18... they would just bend ). It will make the job quick and easy too. It will be well worth the cost of renting if you don't want to buy one.
