- Q: Okay so I know a lot of you are like ew, why does your carpet smell? But I need some serious help its embarrassing. My aunt smokes and I borrowed some shoes from her and if you've ever come in contact with a smoker you know the smell gets into everything. My room started to smell of musty cigerette's and I found it was the carpet because of the shoes. I've tried this Glade Carpet Room Odors but it just seems to mask the smell terribly instead of getting rid of it. I'm thinking I might have to clean it on hands and knees, using some soap and water.
- Wow... I have never heard of carpet smelling like smoke because of some shoes but, You can clean it or you can put some carpet fresh on it and leave it there for a few days ( it its not a large area ). If it is a large area, leave it there as long as you can..
- Q: if i use oxyclean and water in my floor scrubber for a cleaner to do my whole carpets will it work nice?
- I use oxyclean in my residential grade carpet steamer all the time and I haven't noticed any negative effects. I add about half the carpet soap that the instructions say to use and use about a tablespoon of oxyclean. Make sure to use really hot water and shake the water holder around to dissolve all the oxyclean before you put it in the machine. The reason its OK to use oxyclean is that any residue left behind won't be sticky and attract dirt like soap products would. That being said make sure to test out the oxyclean on a hidden corner of the carpet first, just brush in a small spot to make sure nothing bad happens.
- Q: My cat keeps scratching the carpet next to our backdoor.Its not the carpet anywhere else,or the furniture.Just that carpet.I have a scratcher thing for her to use,but she doesnt use it.How can I get her to start using the scratcher,and stop scratching the carpet?
- I have two kittens and had this problem at first. I would try this...every time she starts to scratch at the carpet, pick her up and re-direct her to the scratching post. Literally take her to it and if you have to, put her front paws on the post. Another thing, what kind of scratching post is it? If it's the kind made out carpet material, maybe try the kind that are made out the rough brown straw material. My kitties like that kind better. Oh, and one more thing, make sure you keep her little claws nice and trimmed. She may start to scratch because they are getting too long and they are uncomfortable. I really hope this helps.

- well theres not really a big reason for it its just that most of the time its the living room and bedrooms that have carpet which makes the floor warm, when you are just walking in your house barefoot you dont want to walk on a cold hardwood floor the whole time, some like carpet because it can be considered a luxory ( i have no idea why it is i guess because its expensive ) others have it just because of the color! well thats the only reasons i have known. if you are buying the apartment you can always take the carpet out of the house, thats what we had to do in our house because of my 2 littlest brothers they would always spill drinks etc. on the floor so we just pulled up the carpet, and there you have it. =)

- You can use a needle or water environmental protection. Find a bottoming cloth and do it slowly.
- Q: So I have this cheap $20 rug from walmart thats teal. I did away with it for a while but now that I want my room redone, I want a black rug to go in front of a futon. How would I go about dyeing this rug instead of buying a new one and leaving this one to collect dust? It has a plastic wired bottom to hold the rug together and to act slip resistant. Would dyeing it affect it?
- Whether dyeing would work depends on what fibre it's made of. If it's wool or cotton, it would dye quite well with ordinary dyes, though it might present a few difficulties since dyes usually call for being heated, and a lot of rinsing after. If it's a synthetic fibre, which it very likely is, it might not dye at all because synthetics don't absorb dye very well, if at all. If they do, they usually require processes that would be very difficult to achieve with a rug, such as heating the dye bath with the item in it. All in all, it's probably not worth even trying. Find a cheap black rug to buy.

- You need a deep cleaning method. Simple vacuuming won't do. You should consider steam cleaning because they penetrate the deep layers of the carpet and in combination with special carpet cleaning shampoos they can effectively clean your carpet. Shampoos containing benzyl benzoate or tannic acid can reduce the airborne allergens by 64%. I'm not saying you should steam clean your carpet every month. If you keep your carpet fairly clean then a deep cleaning once every 6 months is more than enough.

- well for starters there is no such thing as a muslim prayer rug... its just a prayer rug used by muslims... islamically its okay.. BUT, if a person doesn't want to use one, all they have to do is put something in front of where there head will land in sujood so that people know they're praying and don't pass in front of them, and they're good to go! also they CAN have intricate designs.. unless of course you have ADD or ADHD and can't keep your focus for too long and your mind drifts away to the geometric prints lol...
