- If it's only the very top part of the nap in the carpet, you can try snipping off the burned parts. Trim around the area somewhat as well, so the snipped dip in the carpet isn't as obvious. If it's too deep to cut, but only a small area (smaller than a quarter) and/or out of the usual area, you can try painting it over. Match the color, paint the spot, and then clear-paint it over to seal it. If it's bigger than that AND deep, um , area rug?

- Q: I have a rug in my inside hallway. I'm wondering how I should wash in washing machine? It's a tight knit rug like berber.
- I always wash my bathroom and entry rugs in the washer with a little detergent on the delicate cycle. I do dry them on the no heat setting. If your rug has a rubber backing it may come off and get in your washer. Usually doesn't happen the first time, but if you wash it often it probably will. No biggie though, just wash a load of towels after or just run a rinse cycle with nothing in it. Should help. Then you may get pieces in your dryer vent if you choose to dry it so be sure to clean the lint trap. hope this helps.
- Q: scorched my carpeting. the lamp cord had a split and it broke leaving black scorch marks on my carpet.
- The only way you can remove the scorch marks off the carpet is to clip the black scorch marks off. Very carefully so you don't clip more than you need to clip. Hopefully it was across the top part of the carpet threads. When we had our carpets installed the installer told me to correct some threads that pop out is to clip on them rather than try to pull them out. So when you think of it I guess it is about the only way you can fix the scorched problem. If it is more than just scorched you can replace a small area with an other piece where it doesn't show or matter. Best of luck to you and hope you only need clipping.

- I've never heard of it. It could be that this is the pattern name and not the manufacturer - you may try confirming at the store. Many designers/retailers don't want to give the names of what they are selling, since they don't want to be price-shopped either locally or online. Also, some carpets have several names, even though the manufacturer and the carpet are exactly the same! Larger stores have carpets under private label, but they may be the same as a dozen other carpets on the market. The manufacturers to this to create exclusivity for their dealers. It makes it hard as a consumer, but this is the reality.
- Q: Life span is 5 years on this bright white carpet. They lived here 2 years before us, and didnt replace the carpets before we moved in, and we lived here for 2 years.. Meaning the carpet is currently 4 years old out of the 5year life span. We did normal wear and tear, and we did make a few spots but nothing huge or horribly bad. - Hey,i happen to have a sisal rug myself!! Firstly, it depends on the kind of sisal rug you have. There are two types: synthetic fiber, which may contain nylon or wool-blend materials; and natural fiber, made of plant products such as sea grass, paper, or coconut fibers. To safely clean synthetic-fiber sisals, follow the manufacturer's directions, which may recommend hot-water extraction or a dry-cleaning method. Manufacturers of natural-fiber sisals suggest only a dry-cleaning method. Do not steam-clean or wet-shampoo; liquids or excessive dampness may cause these rugs to shrink or pucker. For spot-cleaning a stain, lightly mist the area with the manufacturer's recommended cleaning solution (do not pour or heavily apply any cleanser directly onto the rug). Then blot the damp area with a white towel and continue blotting until the stain is removed. A fabric protectant may be applied to both types of sisal rugs during the manufacturing process or by the consumer.
