- Getting hair dye out of carpet is tough - and if you're to have much luck it's best if you can get at the stain immediately. Here's what to do: Step 1 Blot the stain immediately with a clean, white cloth. Step 2 Mix a solution of 1/4 tsp. liquid hand-dishwashing soap and 1 cup lukewarm water. Step 3 Blot stain with soap solution, using a clean, white cloth. Blot from the outside of the stain, working inward. Step 4 Let sit a few minutes. Step 5 Mix a solution of 1 part vinegar to 2 parts lukewarm water. Step 6 Dab stain with vinegar solution, again working from the outside in. Step 7 Once the stain has disappeared, flush the area with cold water and blot dry with a clean, white cloth.
- Q: My carpet was just cleaned and is already dirty...it shows everything! I don't want to have to get down on my hands and knees to spot clean (the entire carpet constantly needs cleaning!) and I cant afford to pay a carpet cleaner every week. - There are some products that you put on your carpet and later vaccum up. Most need to be brushed into dirtier areas (they sell broom-like brushes). Woolite makes a can of foam that's sprayed down and vacuumed up after it dries... can be applied more heavily and rubbed into dirtier areas. Should be a few of these products in the cleaning supplies section of your local supermarket or discount store.

- Q: Hello I have a repti carpet coming today or tomorrow for my leopard gecko, so I'm just wondering how do I clean the repti carpet?Do I need to clean it with disinfectant liquid or can it go in the washing machine?
- I wouldn't recommend the washing machine; repti-carpet is basically just felt material and can easily become destroyed in a washing machine. Personally, I take some hot water in a large mixing bowl and some Dawn dish soap and wash the carpet by hand. I usually let it soak for a while to help loosen any debris before scrubbing. Then I rinse it well and let it air dry. Easy and works like a charm.
- Q: we are trying to shampoo our hall carpet, but someone had spilled quite a bit of laundry soap awhile ago and it doesn't seem to go away. Does anyone know a better way to get rid of this big blotch of soap on the carpet?
- Try diluting some vinegar in water and shampooing with that. Vinegar is used to cut oven cleaner cleaning solution making clean up easier, maybe it will work on the soap. My concern is how much water are you putting on the carpet? Saturating it could be damaging the under layer, promoting mold. You might consider cutting out that section, taking it to the sink or tub and running water through it until completely soap free, plot as much as possible out, let air dry and then use double sided carpet tape to reinstall it in the hall. They use carpet tape when installing carpeting when it must be seamed, so it's not a freakish idea.

- Yes it is very true. They live in the carpet like little vagrants. When little fluffy is walking to her water bowl just to get some water that is when they ATTACKKKK!!!

- oops! okorder IF the rug is cotton or similar plant fiber. If your rug is poly fibers, toss it... no amount of dying will stay.

- it depends on the age really carpet making sure it is reptile carpet is a smarter choice but as your dragon gets older sand is ok but i find it is easier to clean off a carpet because in the sand you have to sift it to get at the poop and even then the sand harbors the bacteria and it make the cage smell worse really if you think sand would make him feel more like at home well not really because his ancestors like 50 or 60 years ago were in sand they don't care as long as it is comfy and warm. but really the carpet is easier to clean wont cost a fortune if the cage is really big and some brands the carpet keeps the dragons claws dull and a better shorter length hope i helped.
- Q: So my carpet (40 year's of age) was torn out my bedroom this morning.And what do ya knw!! there was a beatiful hardwood floor underneath. I saw all the stains/mold on the carpet and whatnot.Before I had trobule breathing and would wake up with a headace every morning becuase of the smell. However, I can notice a slight difference in smell but not a drastic Now, I can't decide if I should get a new carpet or just live with the hardwood floor that's already there. . I still have to sweep the dust and mop. Getting a brand new carpet is expensive. But with a hardwood floor in the winter it can be a little uncomterable. Any idea's??
- Depends on what the hardwood looks like. You can always get a rug to cover up part of the floor you walk on so it is not so cold. If you want a new carpet I would suggest ripping up the hardwood if you know the sub floor is good. If you had mildew and mold it means you had moisture problem probably which could also caused mildew a mold in the hardwood. If you purchase a good quality pad with a new carpet it will take care of the moisture.
