Q:i dyed my hair black, got hair dye on the carpet.. how do i get it out?: willhemina is right the carpet is now dyed. one solution is to replace the carpet in that spot. you do this by using something square, like a cake pan, as a pattern to cut out the stained carpet. if you have scraps left from the installation use the same pan to cut a replacement piece. if not you can use carpet out of a closet. before you place the patch in the hole, use masking tape to cover the padding. spread elmer's glue on the masking tape. lay the patch on the carpet and brush it with your hand to insure that the grain is running the same way as it does around the patch. place the patch in the hole and allow the glue to dry 24 hours. blend in the patch with the surrounding carpet with your hand. if you've done a good job you won't be able to tell the patch is there.
