- Q: I vacuum every day with a kirby sentria. I read somewhere that vacuuming daily can ruin your carpet, but I haven't had a problem (yet). Supposedly it'll wear out the carpet sooner? I use the correct settings for my carpet. We have a 3 year old, a dog, and 3 cats, the thought of vacuuming even every other day kind of sickens me when I think about how many crumbs and how much hair can build up in the carpet lol.Is it okay to vacuum daily? Not gonna have to replace the carpet every 3 years if I do it that way?

- wal-mart is usually a pretty good bet, i've found a lot of area rugs there for $20-$25. if you're looking for brighter colors though i'd try for Target...they tend to have some really bright colors in the dorm-kinda furnishing areas.

- There may be a reason for the carpet in the first place...Try pulling up a corner and then pulling back to check the floor surface The surface may not be pretty to look at ..Are you considering redoing the floor surface...What ever you decide, if you pull the carpet you'll have to pull the tack strips. Again when pulling the carpet use a carpet or utility knive and cut it up in handlable segments. Good Luck
- Q: I don't have the cash to rent a rug doctor. I have a large white rug in my living room and I guess from walking around the house with no socks on, there is a 2'x6' area that is darker than the rest, along with a few stains from spilled drinks.I have a bottle of some carpet cleaning foam with a cheap scrubber on the end but it's just too small to cover that large of an area.So I'm thinking a bucket and a rag might be the best option. I have since bought a small bathroom size mat over the area my feet go on but I'd like to clean it still.So maybe a bucket of warm water with a dab of dishwashing liquid detergent? Or some baking soda?I also don't want to get so many suds in there to where I have to keep scrubbing with a rag and water only 5-10 times to get all the cleanser out.Any ideas?
- If okorder . Carpeting is an expensive investment, you should take care of it. Dishwashing soap normally is colored, these dyes can redye your carpet if you administer it in the cleaning process. Use only clear or white dish soap if you are bold enough to try this your self. The bottom of your socks is probably where the dirt is coming from. Keep a pair of slippers available, preferably without black hard foam soles, and wear them inside the home.
- Q: My color scheme is all earth tones, what should I do to cover said carpet?
- You said the carpet is grey and beige...and your color scheme is all earth tones....with all the earth tones, this should bring out the beige tones in the carpet more than the grey, but if you want to disguise it a little more in open and high traffic areas, get a large area rug with predominantly earth tone colors and just a small bit of grey or blue. This will make the rugs blend easily with the grey tones in the carpet, but draw the eye to the rug not the carpet under it.

- Trying to clean it with soup will make the stains even worse, especially fish soup will leave a bad smell behind. Try using soap instead, it might work wonders. ;)
- Q: Okay, so that's 2 questions in one. Don't hold it against me. Instead, please suggest a cleaner (or a home-made recipe/solution) for cleaning and shining stainless steel small appliances (coffee maker, panini maker, barmen's toolset, and some others) and for how to get set-in stains out of a small oriental rug. Don't know the composition of the stains; they've been there for awhile. They are on a white-ish background. Thanks!
- we use Sprayway Glass Cleaner on our stainless things. it doesn't contain ammonia which leaves a film on s.s. and that is what attracts dirt and fingerprints. it's great on windshields, too.
- Q: We recently had a storm and I had water damage in my bedroom and the carpet was soaked. A company came out and extracted the water and steam cleaned the carpets but I can still smell that wet carpet smell. Any ideas on how to get rid of the stinch?
- Did the carpet guys that came out put a fan on the padding and under the carpet, If they didn't then your growing mold. Make sure that you get the carpets and the padding dried. Then use baking soda to get rid of the odor that the mold is causing . Just sprinkle it on the carpet and let it sit for a bit and then vacuume it up.
