- Q: I do not want to get a cheap carpet. Is $30 a sq yard above average or expensive?
- I think average is about $15 to $20 per sq yd. I did pay a little more for the carpeting upstairs than I did downstairs, because I knew I'd replace the downstairs carpet sooner. I picked out a $25/sq yd carpet for upstairs, and I thought that was expensive. I think $30 is WAY too expensive.

- I had this problem when I was living at home. I had a ugly dark green carpet. Very little money as well. Here is what I did I went to good will and the salvation army as well as discount stores. I bought a lot of bath room carpets. You know the little ones for the tub and sink. I sewed them together and did a patch work on my carpet. The whole thing took about 1 month to find them all ,but it was done under 40.00. I even asked people around the neighbor hood for their old carpets if they had any. My colors was light blue,pink,purple and beige.
- Q: I purchased this large rug at IKEA, I think its made of wooven cotton, but Im not sure (it doesnt have the tag anymore). Its really dirty, but I'm not able to put it in the laundry machine, its to big.The rug is this light cream color, so stains are very visible. - Treating any carpet stain depends on what your carpet is made of. If it's wool or another natural fiber, it will be harder to treat these stains. If it's synthetic (most wall-to-wall carpet falls into this category), you may have an easier time. A diluted solution of brake cleaner, which contains the same chemicals that professional dry cleaning incorporates, will work to remove most food stains. This is a nasty chemical, and you have to consider whether you want the fumes in your house -- but it will do the job better than off-the-shelf carpet cleaning products. Whatever solvent you try, the method is to blot up as much of the stain as you can, wet it (with water or a cleaning solution), and blot some more. Don't rub, as this will abrade the carpet fibers and work the stain in deeper. I would try plain water on the shampoo stain before anything else. For the nail polish on the floor -- depends on what kind of floor surface you are talking about. You might try applying a non-acetone nail polish remover *just* to the polish spot, with a Q-tip. Avoid using an acetone-based remover (will damage almost any surface). If your floor is vinyl or laminate (engineered faux wood), you may have better luck trying to gently scrape it off with a table knife. Finally, if you have wall-to-wall carpeting, a professional carpet steaming service is a pretty good buy for the kind of results you get (and the work you save yourself). Consider spending a couple hundred bucks and skipping all the work. Good luck!

- If you know where the carpet came from, you can contact the retailer. If not, I would try looking in a closet to see if the carpet is the same. You could remove the carpet from the closet and use that for patches. Put a new piece of carpet in the closet. Another alternative. Since it is near the door, could you cut out a large section of carpet and replace it with tile or linoleum or similar flooring material to make an entry area? You might have a carpeter restretch the carpet and see if you can gain enough carpet to cover the area. This might work if the carpet is a few years old. Contact a carpenter to see what they think.

- These rugs may have been designed for prayer but they are not blessed or consecrated or anything like that and for the most part serve a utilitarian purpose. The people who use them will kneel and prostrate on them, so I don't think they will be kneeling on top of sacred images. If the rug has some history or is of an especially ornate design, then it probably won't be cheap enough for him to send of to a child as a plaything. I think he should keep sending these souvenirs, the children will enjoy them and maybe get a glimpse of another culture. If he decides to buy a Koran then he should treat that with respect.

- Remove the carpet on the plant and animal oil, cotton can be used to clean gasoline dipped in high purity; fruit juice and beer stains, first with a soft cloth dipped in detergent solution to wipe, and then add a little vinegar water scrubbing solution; ironmould, in sewage sprinkle fine salt, reoccupy lukewarm soap scrub; if the trace is appropriate with milk soak for a moment, then brush can brush dipped in milk.

- Preen carpet stain remover ~ you just spray it on, leave it for about 1 minutes and then use a dry cloth and using a circular movement rub gently on the stain and it should come off ~ good luck :)
