Q: I have a beige/off white couch (The link is below) and my accent furniture is black/brown. I'm trying to find a rug and drapes to go with what I already have. I really need something to brighten the room a bit and give it a little more character.

Q: What can be laid on the carpet to prevent dirty?
The foam joint floor laid in children's room, is waterproof and easy to be collected.
Q: I'm going to redo the flooring in my bedroom, so I was checking options. Traditional carpet is not really in my budget, so I was thinking carpet tiles, I really have no idea about them so all the info will help. But what I want to know the most is the seams, are they noticeable or will they blend in? I'm thinking plush carpet tiles if that makes a difference.
Ideally, you need a sub-floor for carpet tiles. If you have hardwoods, you can ruin them with carpet tiles. Otherwise, I have carpet tiles in my attic, which is my kids bedrooms. I went with that style intentionally because they love anime and we went with an Asian decor. Here is where I also admit that the builders put in a sub-floor for us and gave us the carpet tiles for free...lol I love them. One of my husbands friends is a very handy person and helps with all the DIY, so he helped to lay them. There are no seams and I think they are perfect. Carpet companies usually have some carpet that they will sell for cheap. We had them lay a plaid carpet in our basement because it was good quality, but wasn't selling because its plaid. I love it. Its off white with navy and black lines. Perfect for our exercise room, my sewing room.and under the pool table. Made us get blue felt for the pool table and I think it's beautiful. Check with them.
Q: I have 13 grandchidren and want to put in a carpet that is stain resistant and wearable
Berber is the toughest carpet. As far as stain resistance, Scotchgard or another chemical finish helps a lot, but it's no panacea. It is important to understand that not all stain resistant carpets are treated to resist all types of stains. One common error that many people make is assuming that a stain resistant carpet will somehow magically not incur a permanent stain, even if the liquid or dirt is left in place for a long period of time. What the chemical treatments achieve for the carpet is slowing down the process of absorption. Hardwood Tile = stain resistance
Q: what is a penny rug?
It is a type of applique made from felted wool. A penny rug is a folk art style of decorative appliqué, traditionally made from felted wool. Primitive shapes were cut out and sewn onto a wool background using an embroidery blanket stitch of contrasting colors. Dating from the mid-19th century to the early 20th century, a penny rug was not used on the floor, but instead as decorative table coverings or wall hangings. This folk art appliqué was often finished with a tongue-shaped border. Coins such as pennies were used as templates for the circle shapes which were layered onto the bordering tongues. Hence the name penny rug.
Q: I have this expensive shag rug from pottery barn, and my two cats have peed on it. I couldn't tell because the shag is so fluffy but when i moved it there pee had stained my wood floor. I love this carpet, and don't want to throw it out. Does anyone know how I can clean a shag rug from cat pee? They only went in one area so its secluded to that one section.(No I will not get rid of my cats)
Without knowing what the rug is made of, I'm not sure of what to tell you exactly. If you think you could wash it in the washing machine, try that. If your washer isn't big enough, maybe a triple load washer at the laundromat will work. If it's too big for the washer you could take it to the carwash and use the clips on the wall of the carwash stall to hang the rug on. Spray the rug with the soapy water, making sure to rinse well. Take it home (take some large trash bags with you to avoid getting your car soggy) and let it dry in the sun, perhaps over your fence.
Q: I am going to rent a rug doctor to clean the carpet in my apartment. The only stains are from my puppy, and I am not sure what kind of cleaner to use with it. should I use the regular cleaner or am I going to need a heavy duty/pet specific cleaner? I have shampooed before, but not since I got my puppy.
The rug doctor will not remove the stains, but if you use an enzyme cleaner on the spots first, any rug machine will, with any shampoo. Cross your fingers there's no smell. That's another problem.
Q: How do I keep the the coffe table from digging into the area rug (persian rug) and moving around ?
Put a set of coasters under the legs of the table.
Q: Does anyone have or know where I might be able to get the quot;Clock Rugquot; from the kids show The Big Comfy Couch? Thanks....
check the pbs web site they might have it or a link as to wear to get it
Q: Its almost thanksgiving which means lots of guest! I have nasty old stained grey carpet. what can I do in only a weeks time?
Well, you can get lots of area rugs...or just a couple big ones for the center of the rooms. Sometimes Wally World has them for about $25-30 each. Of course, they aren't high quality, but they'll do. I say center of the rooms, b/c that's most likely where most of the wear/dirt is. But I would try cleaning the carpet really well first. Rent a Rug Doctor and clean it, vacumming with a regular vac REALLY well first. You can save on the carpet shampoo if you use liquid Gain (it's low foam enough, use the same amt. of it the machine requires of the reg. stuff). I have off white carpet, and I've even used bleach in my steam cleaner before. Not something I'd do often, but I was desperate to get it clean and didn't care if it got messed up. It stung my eyes before it was all said and done, but it looked really nice afterwards (I used Gain at the same time also). It didn't bleach the cream color out of my carpet at all, and that's using about 1/8-1/4cup per clean water change. But if you're worried, dilute some bleach with water and test in somewhere hidden first. But if you think your carpet is ugly anyways, I don't know that you'd care if it were lightened up a bit.
