- Q: I just spilled coke on the cream colored carpet and just scrubbed it down with a wet wash cloth thoroughly. The problem is that I don't know if it will stain when it dries. How can I get the stain out if it occurs without ruining the carpet. I live in an apartment and don't want any damage.
- Next time, don't scrub, just blot repeatedly. Now just press a damp (not wet) wash cloth into the area and leave it overnight. The sugar will tend to migrate up into the cloth as the outside of the cloth dries. Tomorrow when the cloth feels quite dry, check the stain. It may be all gone. Let the carpet dry completely and fluff up the nap with an old hairbrush or coarse comb. If there's still signs of the stain (likely around the outside of the perimeter where you were scrubbing, try brushing a mixture of baking soda and salt into the carpet. The salt has a slight bleaching action; the baking soda is a good absorbent. Leave on the stain for 24 hours and vacuum.

- The bleach spot is permanent unfortunately. You've stripped the dye out. If you're talking wall to wall carpet you might want to call a carpet installer and ask if there is a dye you can use to re-dye it back to as close as possible to its natural color. Mind you, I have never heard of this, just a shot in the dark and have no idea if they would have something like that. But I should think calling a professional carpet dealer/installer would be your only hope. Otherwise, as the other poster said, lay a throw or area rug over it if at all possible.

None of those right now? Blot up as much as you can with paper towels. Put vinegar down on the spot and cover it with a wet cold cloth. Mix up a very little bit of dishwashing liquid (a few drops) in a bucket of water. Blot, scrub, press out as much water as you can. If it really won't come out, try a little bit of OxyClean stain remover, water, bucket, clean towels to blot up the extra water.

- Q: We purchased the recommended pad for use on carpeted areas. The problem is that the wrinkles are pronounced/high. This diminishes the attractiveness and safety of the new rug.The rug was tightly rolled for shipping. It was laid across a bed for 4-5 days allowing the edges to hang hoping to straighten and smooth out these wrinkles. - Personally, I'd have her in a rug right now. I'm in Scotland and both mine are in middleweights - its dropping to near 0 degrees at night already and I wake up to frost. When she gets clipped she MUST have some form of rug on with weight in it unless its gorgeous weather - when you take away their coat its like taking away our clothes and expecting us to stand in the cold - we can't heat ourselves up and so we get cold very quickly. This is what I said for another answer. Weather for no rugs / fly rugs - HOT weather with no / little breeze. Weather for a rainsheet - Rain but no wind. Weather for a lightweight - Rain with wind, or just wind. Weather for a mediumweight - Rain with a lot of wind, just wind or cold temperatures (basically, as I don't feel the cold, the minute I need to be putting on a jacket is mediumweight weather) Weather for a heavyweight - The coldest it gets. Snow. Below freezing temperatures. Last year in the worst of it I did put a heavyweight stable rug under a heavyweight turnout, it got that cold.
