Q: I got a new bmx frame, my old one was flatland and looked funny on all my street parts.Anyway, i tried putting my old fork into the new frame, along with everything else to see if it would even fit. When i put in the fork, obviously it fit since its standard 1-1/8. However, once i tried pushing the fork all the way up, the bearings at the bottom wouldn't allow the fork to go any higher, they seem to big for the frame. i took the bearings out and tried the fork alone, the fork fits fine and looks like there is still space for bearings, but much smaller bearings. is there such a thing? smaller bearings? i thought it was all standard.. if there are i will simply go to the bike shop and buy these bearings.
It shouldn't be too thick, I've framed things thicker than a puzzle. There is this sealer you can get a a craft store to put on the puzzle so the pieces don't come apart, that's if you don't mind it being together forever. I like to use swiss clips for frameless frames (kind of an oxymoron).
Q: Okay, I have a 99 olds intrigue 3.8 with 100k miles. Recently, I started noticing a clicking noise when turning right. I replaced both CV axles, and it did not go away. This noise ONLY happens when the car is on the ground. it happens in neutral or drive, braking or no braking, and only happens when I trun right. Now, recently I noticed the car makes a horrible grinding noise when the wheel is LOCKED to the left under acceleration. (like making a U-turn). Could both noises be caused by a bad wheel bearing? or bearings?
replace both wheel bearings, you figure, the car is resting on them, if they're grinding as you say they are you should feel a slight vibration in your gas pedal. for the clicking take it to a few shops see if anyone knows. after that i really don't know what to tell you.
Q: This may seem like a stupid question as I am just learning to skateboard.I bought a brand new complete board with abec 5 bearings and they seem quite stiff. Am I suppose to oil them before I ride or do they eventually loosen up as I ride? Also I took the riser pads off because I heard it makes it easier to learn to ollie, will this help me? I have 51mm wheels so I dont think they will rub against the board. Thanks for your help.
spray a little dwi 3 oil on them.
Q: For a skateboard. Which are better?
Bones Reds try and get ceramic bearings keep maintenance on them every month and don't worry about ABEC ratings cause it counts for nothing and you will have bearings for at least a year or two depending on where and how you skate.
Q: i have 4 wheels and when i spin 3 they sound fast and they make a roaring sound and they spin for at least 40 seconds but when i spin the last wheel it makes no sounds and it spins for atleast 20 seconds, and when i ride on my skateboard it makes a weird sound
The okorder /
Q: do bones reds super bearings work good for longboards?
DO NOT listen to the other guy. Reds are known for being the best performing bearings in skateboarding and they are very inexpensive. I mean sure if you spent like $50+ on bearings you might get slightly better then Reds but really it's not worth it. reds are great. i've skated other bearings, always go back to reds. ask anyone at a local park
Q: What skateboard wheels, bearings and trucks for my sons new pool skateboard?
Lets see... For a good deck I'd check out Plan B, ZooYork, or Zero they're all 3 pretty good brands. For trucks u have either Silver or Independent, I think Silver is better but that's my opinion. For bearings I'd go with either Bones or FKD saw blade. For wheels Bones would be a good buy as for grip tape u can either check out mob or check out Torey Pudwill's new brand called Grizzly Grip but it just came out recently so it may be hard to find in stores!
Q: i am a beginner skateboarder and i am going to buy a skateboard and debating whether to buy cheap trucks and bearings and save money or to spend more on a little bit higher quality ones. i am just a beginner so i dont know whether i would even tell the difference. if you think i should get better ones can you recommend any to me?
Ok so first off don't buy cheap made trucks or bearings, I've had cheap bearings there slow, get dirty fast, and all my abecs fell out. And I've never had problems with trucks but I've heard of them snap and alot of other bad things. Secondly, buying better quality will last you a butt ton longer. Some brands of trucks are: Independent,Thunder,Theeve,Tensor, and Venture. Some bearing brands:Bones,Shake Junt,Spitfire, and Shorty's. P.S. get Bones Reds bearing their cheap but last at least a year or better and their really fast. Hope this helped.
Q: I have split the case, and removed the crankshaft and bearing seals. I want to replace the the crank Bearings. What is the best way to to get them out with out damaging the case? Also, when it is time to install the new crank do I need to use the Yamaha Installing pot tool? I can't find this tool anywhere.
Well Yamaha Service Manager 1980-90 is correct in most of what he says but he left some stuff out, sounds like he still gets his check from the dealer. Split your cases, more than likely the crank will stay in one side or the other. If this is the case that makes removing the bearings easier as the one on the crank you should be able to get off without to much strain. As for the bearing in the case, he is correct, heat it up, I suggest I propane style torch using Map Gas (it gets hotter). You will want to take the case that has the bearing in it and freeze it over night, also put your new bearings in the freezer as well. After the case is frozen, remove it from the freezer and heat up the case around the bearing trying not to heat the bearing (aluminum warms faster then steel), once the case is good and warm then flip it over and with a punch and a gentle tap of a hammer on the inner race of the bearing it should just pop out after a few taps. Once you have the bearing out then you can remove the seal if you haven't already done so. Clean the surface that the bearing sits in very well, I suggest carb cleaner or something of the sort. After it is clean heat it back up, go grab your new bearings out of the freezer and drop them right in. As long as you have the case hot enough the bearings should push right in. Let cool to room temperature and then reassemble. Put the transmission back into the case, Yamabond the mateing surfaces of the cases and push them together. I have a piece of pipe that I have made to fit onto the case at the crank bearing, you can use something similer. Then press the cases together slowly making sure that the transmission is not binding with anything and the crank spins free. After they are together put your center case bolts and and finish assembly.
Q: I have noticed that my ride is very noisy. I thought about replacing them but they come as the whole assembly. Please help!
You have hub bearings that need to be replaced, once they start to make noise the damage is done and its time to replace them. If your tires are cupped they will sometimes sound like bad bearings.
