- Q:I have a shaft that is in a vertical position. I need to support the axial (vertical) and the radial (side) force. I can understand how to support the side force with the ball bearings. I would just slip the bearings through the shaft and then create some kind of housing and bolt it to a structure close to it. But the radial force? The ball bearings I have do not have any type of set screw, so their is nothing to lock it into place.
- There are pressure bearings which are installed (in your case) at the bottom of a vertical rotating shaft to support the weight or downward pressure of it and reduce friction. Those bearings are usually roller or needle bearings. I have seen them also with steel balls but having an identical top and bottom plate or ring. It is unwise to use regular ball bearings with an inner and outer ring for that.
- Q:Do you need to relube your bearings if you leave them in their boxes(opened)?I bought bones reds, and I opened the box. I plan to leave it there for 3-5 days untill my other shipments(trucks, wheels) come. Will the lube dry/go away? Should I relube it in 3-5 days?
- I would not recommend re-lubing cause they are already lubricated with speed cream and if you put too much in the bearings slow right down and get dirty so I would leave them especially cause they are new ..the lube is meant to dry in a way so the balls absorb the lube ....And make sure you buy speed cream DO NOT use CRC or WD40 cause it breaks down the Nylon part and is generally not good for them ..Also don't clean with citrus cleaners, the best thing to do is get some petrol and take the bearings out of the wheels and take the red barrier thing off (carefully) and drop them in ..Then lube them with speed cream 2 drops is perfect ..But yeah that's about all you need to know ...Definitely buy Bones speed cream its $10 in NZ where im from so go to a skateshop and buy some Good luck and Happy skateboarding Tom
- Q:where can i buy furnace inducer motor bearings?
- You can swap out the entire motor in ten minutes. Why would you want to replace the bearings? Just change the motor. Google is probably your best option. Most local part suppliers will not sell to the public, at least here anyway.
- Q:Will the bearings rust if you wipe them with a paper towel?
- i've had the same bearings for about 5 years and the only reason why is because of my bearing protectors. i have never cleaned them but i need new ones now. i dont think you should clean them. you should probably buy bearing protectors and you'll be fine. my board has been waterlogged about 3 times and my bearings still survived because of the protectors. well gl skating
- Q:Can anyone explain what the symtoms of main bearings being bad versus rod bearings? I think I have a slight rod knock and am going to try and replace the bearings but I wanted to know if I have to replace the main bearings too or if there is a way to know. Also does anyone know if I can replace the main bearings on my car without having to pull the engine out? I know I can do this for the rod bearings by taking oil pan off and replacing them...I have a 1996 honda accord LX
- Main Bearings make Racket or thump when You Push Pedal Accelerate: As opposed to Rod Bearings that knock when You let off Gas Pedal; I would do an Overhaul if I needed Main Bearings;
- Q:A friend of mine had his Nissan repaired recently. He had the timing chain and water pump replaced. A week later, the car dies. He returns to the shop that fixed it. They say his ball bearings are pretty much gone and that he needs a new engine. When he asked what could have caused this, they say that somewhere along the line a previous shop put the wrong trans fluid in his car and that that is the cause of this whole thing. Is this possible?
- You know that stuff you have to be careful not to step in when you're walking through a barn yard full of bulls? Well, that's the biggest bunch of it I've heard in a long, long time. The reason engine bearings go bad is from excess wear due to a lot of miles or a lack of lubrication within the engine. The transmission fluid has nothing to do with it. He may well need a new engine or the old one overhauled but, I'd get a second opinion and I'd darn sure never let that shop do any more work on my car.
- Q:How do I work out this bearings problem?A helicopter flies 15km on a bearing of 053, then 7km on a bearing of 112. How far north is the helicopter from its starting position?
- This problem needs some thought since when you use directions North and bearing 0 degrees is at the top of the page But, in math, if you use degrees, 0 is usually to the right. To translate, so your calculator will give the correct answer, subtract the bearings from 90 degrees. So 90 degrees minus 53 degrees equals 37 degrees. The distance to the east is equal to cosine of 37 degrees times 15km = 12 km Sine of 37 degrees times 15km equals 9km So the first leg he ended up 12 km east and 9 km north of original position. Then to translate the 112 degrees, subtract it from 90 to get -22 degrees Cosine of -22 times 7km equals 6.5 km and Sin -22 times 7km equals -2.6km. The second leg took him 6.5km farther east and 2.6km south since the 2.6 was negative, it is in the direction south. Next, add the two together Cos + Cos for the travel east and you get 12 + 6.5 so he ended up 18.5km east of the starting point Add the Sines for the north/south directions. 9 -2.6=6.4 km north of starting position.
- Q:I am putting on new abec 7 skateboard bearings. I cant tell if when first applied if they should have a little room to move back and forth or be completely isolated at first. I know when I took my other wheels off they had room to move back and forth
- Well u probably want them so they move a little man. Because ur others moved a little and i skateboard not longboard but i think bearings are so tight inside the wheel that u should put them so they move a little
- Q:when im parked on a flat surface my tires sit perfectly straight and look completely normal, then when i park on a small incline the tires and wheels spread t outward really bad, it turns and drives fine, it has 35 inch tires and 16.5 wheels and ive heard 4wd can cause it to do that but if anyone can give me some info thatd be AMAZING..lol-thanks
- What kind of vehicle is it? Is it coil over, torsion bar, twin I beam, how many miles: dont gremlin hunt, get some deinitive answers. I would have it inspected for upper and lower ball joints, control arm bushings, drag and center links, idler and pitman arms, and the integrity of the radial runout of the hub to bearing assembly! Remember, putting bigger tires on vehicles that were never intended for them, tend to cause some pretty unusual circumstances! Especially when a lot of the factory geometry is now different! Hope this helps! Best Luck
